  1. Just for info, I've made the connections that I think to be correct, and taken photos. I'm still finishing off the fascia. When I get that done I'll be in a position to install the new head unit and try it out. If I've installed it all correctly and it works, then I'll post up my photos.
  2. Janey's point about needing to have decent equipment is a good one. If you do get it done somewhere else, then they should be able to give you a printout of how they've set your car up, then I'm sure you'd be able to ask Tony to double-check that it's indeed correct. If you can make the trip to WIM, you won't regret it, they've very professional. But I realise it's quite some way. However, other LOC members have travelled a lot farther just for a WIM visit, they thought it was that worthwhile !
  3. Do you mean you're not sure whether to go for springs or coilovers, or you've decided on which route but don't know which brand of springs/coilovers to get ?
  4. Patrik Lindblom's got angel eyes in his black headlights, check out his thread
  5. You will be able to get the geo settings from Tony, if you can find someone decent in your area who can do the job. There are complications like the fact that in theory the IS200 isn't adjustable for one of the things that needs setting, but there's something else that can be adjusted which as a side-effect *will* make the necessary adjustment. So it's not that simple, but someone competent should be able to do it. Hopefully there will be someone on here who can recommend someone near you. For WIM's work you're looking at very roughly £100 for the geo setup. Obviously Tony could confirm the actual price.
  6. Oh dear, sorry to hear about that. Was it at the front or the rear ? As you say though, the C-One ARBs are thicker than the OEM ARBs, so I can't see an OEM bush fitting. So you're not sure yet (till James takes a look) exactly what's happened, i.e. whether the bracket for the bush has come off completely ?
  7. You are fully entitled to having the damage sorted, either via a new dash, or more likely via someone touching up the damage and making it invisible (as others have suggested). Let us know how you get on.
  8. If the wheels are properly balanced, then swapping them around won't affect that. But if they're not properly balanced then you could notice a problem more when you swap them. A trip to WIM will sort out that inner tyre wear, *and* improve your handling, via a proper geometry setup.
  9. Yep, a decent refurbisher will work wonders on them and get them looking like new. As for the colour, you will have to check exactly what colour they'll be refurbed as, e.g. get the guy to show you what colour he will make them in case it'll be slightly different. Can be a problem if you are refurbing less than a full set and you want to match colours.
  10. WIM have got a very good wheel-balancing machine, which can tell them all sorts of stuff about your wheels. Highly recommended.
  11. Update - *finally* managed to get the OEM amp out of the car. That meant I could connect up the bypass cable, use some cable ties to tidy it away, and reassemble the removed panels on the passenger side of the car. Still in the process of sanding down and painting the fascia, I keep ended up unhappy with the finish and starting again . Hopefully on the home stretch now. Other things to do are to splice in the aerial amplifier cable and illumination/dimming cables, now that I've got the bypass cable in position.
  12. The 5-spoke alloys on my car were in much, much worse condition than your ones, before I bought it. The dealer got them refurbed and they looked good as new.
  13. Think the headlamp washers should only come on when you press the headlamp washer button. At least, that's how it works on my 1999 model (or it should do, actually right now the headlamp washers aren't working at all).
  14. ok, just had a look at the OEM wiring in my car, and I can indeed see a green wire going into pin 2 of the connector for the OEM stereo. So I'm going to tap into that one. EDIT - for the benefit of others who might be trying this, I've noticed that there's a second green wire going into pin 16 of the OEM connector. But that's for something else entirely, as I said above, pin 2 is the one for the OEM stereo illumination.
  15. So do you know which green wire you tapped into ? I realise that probably any one will do though.
  16. I don't think that Tein do the CS for the IS200. Choices from Tein are Basic, Super Street or Mono Flex. Actually they're not listing CS for the GS models either on their website at the moment, wonder if they've discontinued those ?
  17. What wiring diagrams are you after exactly ? They're all available here
  18. The illumination wiring diagram here shows the illuminated switches and the dimmer itself, and also the OEM head unit illumination.
  19. Well I've been looking at lots of wiring diagrams today :duh: and already had a window open on the relevant section of the manual :D
  20. Sorry, I think I've just realised I did misunderstand your question. Yes, I think I just need to splice the orange wire into one of those connectors. That was my question, i.e. whether anyone could recommend a handy wire near the stereo, what colour is it, etc. From my research I think the relevant wires are all green. I will have a look tomorrow at what wires I can see in the big hole in my dash, to see if there are any obvious candidates.
  21. It looks like the black wire into pin 14 of the combination meter, to me at least.
