  1. Here's a pic of the head unit finally installed. Not the best picture in the world but it gives you an idea. Close-up of the new fascia after sanding/painting etc. I don't think I did too bad a job getting it closer to the look of the factory plastic. Is that a fingerprint I can see on it though ?
  2. Woo-hoo ! It's all in and working ! :D Many thanks to everyone who's helped me with this. Pictures to follow.
  3. Sorry if I upset some people here, but anyone who doesn't declare all their mods to their insurance company, or who tries to deceive them in some way, is being :iraqi-info-minister: .
  4. If you hit an uninsured driver, then you'll probably have to claim on your own insurance, thereby paying an excess.
  5. It probably won't help that much, but there are some diagrams of the two different types of diff and instructions on taking it apart here and here, but no technical specs that I can see.
  6. As has been said, these centre caps are hard to come by if you don't go to Lexus/Toyota. You could try breakers or just waiting for something to come up on eBay. You might be lucky or you might have a long wait.
  7. I can't help you with the technical details, but you can check whether an IS200 has an LSD by checking the manufacturer's plate inside the engine bay on the main bulkhead. See this posting for details. Prolex sell an aftermarket LSD, look here.
  8. Whereabouts in London are you ? I got my cam belt changed at ToyotaGT (one of the traders on this site), who are just a bit down the M3 out of London.
  9. Aaargh, bad luck mate, I'm sure that it must be the clutch as others have said
  10. Group Buy ? Check out the T's & C's on the Group Buy forum, get the mods to approve the idea, then post up a thread for it ! :D
  11. I think that if you're changing the cam belt then you should change the idler and tensioner too. Do you really want to leave it another 60K before changing those ? If they start to wear then they could cause a lot of extra wear on your new cam belt.
  12. Did you not want to try Lexus/Toyota ? They'll have them. Or are you looking for something cheaper ?
  13. I've never tried taking the whole thing off. But the relevant sections of the manual are here and here. They make it look like there are two nuts that need removing from underneath the headlining.
  14. It looks like you need to get underneath the interior headlining, according to the manual. That seems to show removing a large part of the interior of the car, but I can't believe that as much as that is necessary.
  15. ok I'm confused now. In a different section of the manual the wiring diagrams are different for later spec cars, e.g. the one here seems to apply to later model 8-speaker models. The pin-outs on there seem to be different to the earlier models, so I'm afraid it doesn't look like it'd be helpful for you to get the pin-outs from my (earlier, 1999) car.
  16. I have my OEM head unit out at the moment, so I can easily look at my connector and tell you which wire is where. I have an 8-speaker system (IS200 Sport) too. Are you looking at this diagram ? I can see 14 wires (not 13) on that diagram. The 15th wire is the green one for illumination in pin 2 on this diagram. So that sounds like the 15 that you're after. Let me know if you still want me to look at my connector in my dash. Edit - looking again, I take that back, looks like 12 wires on the first diagram with the 13th on that illumination diagram into the main connector, those other wires are on a different connector. My offer still stands of course.
  17. You sure you mean J2 ? Because that's pretty near me, not down near the coast. Not that I'm complaining if there's a meeting there !
  18. I want one ! Good to hear you're getting yours fitted though ! :D
  19. Amen to that. Your tyres are the only thing keeping you in contact with the road. No way would I buy some weird make of tyres that I'd never heard of off eBay, sorry.
  20. Congrats. It's amazing what difference it makes, isn't it ? Even after reading the forums, I was sceptical as to whether I'd actually feel the difference after being WIM'd (especially being new to the car as well), whether it could really make *that* much difference, but it sounds like you've joined the club of happily WIM'd IS drivers ! :D
  21. You will be able to get loads of useful suggestions etc on how to use a polisher over at the Detailing World forums, including from professional detailers as well as amateur enthusiasts. Combine that with a scrap panel bought from a breakers to practice on, and I'm sure you can do it. Or pay someone to do it for you if you don't fancy doing it yourself.
