  1. I'm not really trying to justify that sort of price for a head unit, but bear in mind that it's a specific unit designed for the IS200. So not exactly going to sell in large quantities as a spare part. At the end of the day it's a complex box of electronics, and costs a lot new from Lexus just like any other complex box of electronics in the car. Much better idea to buy a nice aftermarket unit.
  2. Check this diagram for the location of the sensor. You could have a look and see if the cable has become dislodged, or the sensor itself out of position, but it could well just be that a new sensor is required, as Stav said.
  3. Don't wait for your OEM head unit to fail, get an aftermarket unit anyway, you'll be pleased you did ! :D
  4. Check this listing, on the IS200 the upper mounts are only available for the front from Tein.
  5. Presumably you removed the a/c controls and the connectors from this unit as part of removing the old head unit ? If so, might you perhaps have accidentally damaged/dislodged some of the wiring ? The clock light will be powered via this a/c control connector.
  6. I think that the top mounts are only for the front, although I could be wrong.
  7. Do you have a separate OEM amp ? Where did you get the amp bypass cable ? Was it just a plug-and-play job ? What sort of aftermarket head unit is it ?
  8. I switched from Direct Line to Sky. Sky seem a million miles better (and I don't just mean the price) :winky:
  9. You could ask Dave at Prolex if he can get them (since he sells other Tein stuff). TDi are showing them on their website too.
  10. You may be able to switch insurance companies even before renewal, to one that is more mod-friendly. Most will give you a proportion of your premium back if you cancel (phone and ask if that's an option, and if so how much you'll get back, so you can see if it's worth it). Sky Insurance are a trader on here and are very mod-friendly (e.g. they insure them like-for-like). As for the exhaust, what sort of thing are you looking for ? Something subtle or something loud ? Just something that looks nice ?
  11. Good luck, let us know how it goes. Remember though, it's a buyer's market, so if there's something that doesn't feel right about the car or the deal itself, walk away, there are loads out there !
  12. Mine were refurbed without the diamond cutting and I think they look great (or did before I scraped them a couple of times, argh !). Diamond-cut might look even better but I don't think it's 100% necessary. Down to personal preference of course.
  13. Thanks for the vote of confidence guys - I think ! Do we really need a specific Group Buy organiser though ? Isn't it better with anyone able to organise their own Group Buy ? Just thinking out loud here, I don't know how things have worked in the past (only been here since last summer).
  14. I did some searching, and according to this posting they are M6 bolts. You might want to PM Cous3 to ask him what length they are.
  15. According to Tein's data, the Super Streets can be lowered (if I'm reading it right !) by up to 53mm at the front and rear. It seems to show that without top mounts the front can be lowered even more, by up to 61mm.
  16. Exactly. Let *them* get them from a breakers if they want, why are they expecting you to help sort out their mistake ?!
  17. ok, so that's the so-called VVTi cover (since it has the VVTi logo on it). Anyone know what size bolts those are ?
  18. I haven't used them myself, but pretty sure some members have. Try a search for "japarts". Also, don't forget to check the price from a Lexus/Toyota dealer, especially if you're a Gold member and therefore probably can get a discount on parts. I got a water pump (OEM Lexus/Toyota) from CheapToyotaParts.
  19. You mean holding on one of the plastic engine covers ? They're just standard bolts. If you can say exactly which cover you mean, then I'm sure someone will be able to tell you which bolts to get, and you'll easily get them off eBay (or from lots of other places too).
  20. They quoted 2weeks to do the work?! I'm guessing that he means they won't be able to start on it yet due to their backlog ?
  21. Just had a look on the section to sign up as a Goldie, and I see that there's now a 10-year "Platinum" option.
  22. Dave Ellen at Prolex is checking out a price for us for a possible Group Buy. Think it could be time to start up a Group Buy thread ! :D
  23. No, don't use a chamois, use a microfibre drying cloth, like this sort of thing.
