thanks fluff, will try this, how long shall i leave the disconnection of the battery? The noise only happens when the car is on, the ring that the acclerator cable wraps round has a spring on the left of it, (sorry aint got a pic) both the spring and the ring tick n move.

Also, have had it hooked up to a diagnostics machine, no errors shown, everything normal.. my mate has one at a local garage - also his apprentice works in Lexus Leeds, a young lad says that the "Thottle Response Unit" is a regular failure on these..?? Anybody???

Hi All... Hoping someone can shed some light on this.. My IS is making a weird clicking n tick noise after it has been started..! happened this morning, the other night, there is a big drop in acceleration and the Accellarator pedal is heavy,kind of sluggish feeling you get when driving a diesal This morning it wasn't bad.. gave a 330Ci run for its money , but on way home from work yesterday, i couldn't overtake a CHAV'd out Corsa This has been happening for a while, had my alternator changed (due to failing), changed the batterry to Red Top, but then the other day the tick tick sound started.. The noise is coming from where the acclerator throttle cable thing is on the engine.(only happens on idle) i have the induction kit, so with the cover removed, i can see where the tick is coming from (sorry don't know name) something to do with the throttle block where the throttle cable wraps round :duh: it ticks n move left/right but If I rev the engine a little (from throttle thing) the tick kind of holds off for a bit.. It's like the car wants to idle higher (normal) but something is stopping it from doing it, the revs drop to .5, i have lost the exhaust ROAR as well, no power feeling. Sorry it's long and probably makes no sense

Yep.. think you could call it "JAMMY" Whats the process of getting these wound up? as you know i am running a few bits n bobs of ice myself with the Optima Yellow Top Battery... So far the battery is copin very well indeed, considering the cars been runing all the ICE and the engine on battery power for the past 3 weeks due to the alternator being bust Felt the difference driving into work, bit of power there, the exhaust tone has also returned now

After getting my car checked out yesterday by a local freind of mine :P My Alternator had gone capput :tsktsk: Rang up a local scrappers : Alternator off a 51-reg IS200 SE ... £35 Fitted and tested... £10 Checked Air Con & Re-Gassed+oiled ... £40 Total Cost... £85 Thats not a bad price, considering i only found out that the alternator passed its sell-by-date about 4.30pm and by 6.30pm car was sorted :P Oh!! also picked up a Front Passenger Window, due to some scratches on mine for £35 as well (anyone know how to fit the window? is it pretty straight forward?) Imi

Wondering if anyone could shed some light on the problem my IS has.. it is an IS200 -V Reg, covered 92K miles, the problem is that the power level has decreased and the revs drop (roughly to .5 if not little below) all the time, when stoped stationary in neutral, even switches off sometimes the car shakes a little bit aswell, steering goes heavy, lights go dim, the battery idle drops to the 2nd SOLID mark above the 9. but when car is on the move, all is fine apart from the power level, alot of lag compared to normal. the revs and battery indicator go normal. problem occured a while back, before i had the timing belt changed, on sat had the fan belt changed, as the steering use to judder sometimes too.. but the problem is still there!!! :tsktsk: have been told that it could be "if not is" the alternator? will have to book it in and get it checked, but if it's not the alternator, any body got any clues as what it is? air flow etc.. (have reset the ECU, no other dash displays etc..) How much cost am i looking at for an alternator?? thanks

ooooooooooooh.. nasty.... lucky it didnt go through the floor of the car.. happend to my mates rover, jack slipped and went through the floor panel.. that sill should pull out pretty easliy, lucky the paint didn't chip or scratch.

nah.. wrong price.. that spoiler is about £99.00, cos i remember ordering one from lexus leeds a while back, but instead got the one i got now at a dearer price.. that one is just a thin piece of strip, the other ones that come on the sport are more expensive.. (there are about 3 to 4 different spoilers for the IS)

how come that when something like this happens and when you go to the place to ask... "Sorry he doesn't work here no more" i think it's aload of bull... anyway, hope you get it sorted out, as it will an expensive belt change if owt goes wrong with your belt...lol

mine does this sometimes too, but only now and then... i also hav coins in the centre pocket up front (will remov'em ) but i also park straight underneath a street lamp, do you think that this will trigger the alarm in anyway? (read a post a while back someone mentioned something about street lamps sending the alarm blarring out)
