  1. All went well! :D

I took a nice day trip to Somerset on my own via train to view a car, it's a '99 Lexus IS200 Sport, in Sapphire blue, 88k, Full service history, 12 months MOT, cream leather, heated seats, LSD, E/M, E/W, E/S & many more cool toys. Anyway I bought it for £4440, chuffed to bits. I had a nice 200 mile drive home in it which was nice to get a feel for it. The engine sounds lovely & I love the cream on blue. I added all the spec as I copied this post from another forum I post and they know nothing about Lexus's.

Anyway here is a quick picture of her, opinions welcome (ignore how filthy it is!)

  2. Evening guys. Well after a week or so of hunting I have found the exact spec IS200 that I am after. It's a '99 IS200 Sport in Sapphire blue with cream interior. I am based in Crewe and will be travelling to Tiverton, Somerset via train in order to view it, alone. If all goes well i'll be driving home up the M5 with a huge smile on my face! :D It's going to be a long, lonely day, but hopefully i'll come home a happy man. Anyway, i'll update this thread tomorrow to let you know how I got on. ;)

    Thanks, Ryan.

  3. Well to date I have owned.

'98 S - Citroen Saxo VTR (First car)

    '01 Y - Citroen Saxo VTS

    '88 F - Peugeot 205 GTi

Tomorrow I pick up my next car, a Lexus IS200 Sport, so i'll report back after that, it's going to be completely different from my french hatchbacks thats for sure! ;)

Kiriyama - What colour is your sport fella? I live in Crewe & work in Newcastle under lyme so I will keep an eye out for you.

  4. Ok, so after scouting pistonheads, autotrader...etc, I have found that for my budget £4.5k I can get hold of a few Sport's, but they are generally quite high mileage. Firstly is it a good idea going for an IS200 with 90-110k? Assuming they have been serviced when needed what are they good for? I don't intend on putting too many miles on the car as it's mainly for weekends, so 3k or so MAX a year.

Secondly, the Age of cars that fall into my bracket are generally 99/00, so, T, V & X reg. How much should I expect to pay for a full years worth of goverment scandal, aka tax?

Last of all, what are the most common problems when MOT time approaches, are IS200's prone to anything in particular failing?

I'm sorry if any of this has been asked in the past.

    Thanks, Ryan.
