Hi Buddy. I’m loving it. I’ve not been well so only just starting to get out in it. Full service completed including cam belt and pump. Mechanic said it was a cracking car and very clean underneath. Ill get some photos once the sun comes out. Wrinkles: 1. Passenger memory buttons don’t work. 2. Headlamp washers broken. 3. Front grille had been painted body colour….. so I bought a salvage one which is very clean. Fitted that today. Ive ordered the throttle controller which should be with me next week. Oh and discovered why it sounded so sweet. Back box has been replaced with stainless pipes straight through. Perfect mix of sound without offending the neighbours. I have a question for everyone…… On these wet roads, the front tyres feel like they’ll break away very easily….. Good tread on budget tyres but I don’t actually think they are the issue. It just feels very light which it can’t be with that engine above them!

Speaking of which. My mechanic buddy is giving my new acquisition a thorough examination today and is replacing cam belt, pump and plugs as part of a full service. I feel like an expectant father waiting to hear some news.

Think he needs to see a bit more yet!!!!

Hi chaps Yes, I did look at the one in Westfield and it’s definitely well overpriced. I personally wouldn’t give more than £9k for it. There are people on here far more qualified than me to cast judgement but what about the Balfour one?

What’s everyone’s thoughts on undersealing?

Priority is to get my mechanic friend to give it a thorough health check and service. Almost certainly including plugs and cam belt/water pump replacement. Then it’s a thorough valet/clean inside and out. Take it from there really……. Let the spending commence!!!!

After a month or so of searching and with the support of some of you guys on here…… I’ve finally found the car for me. 2004 Silver, Black and Walnut. A lovely, genuine, unmolested, 4 previous owner SC. Driven 220 miles today bringing it to its new home and it drives beautifully….. never missed a beat. Thank you to the guys who gave up their time to advise and direct me. (You know who you are!!!) 👏🏼

Like you Bob, I view most things with suspicion. Guilty until proven innocent where cars and dealers are concerned. I will take my screwdriver and see how many holes I can find underneath. The dealership itself gets some ropey reviews And a couple mention having an mot but finding things wrong a few days later. Ill see what reaction I get when I ask to call the previous owner to ask about their period owning it.

Sad to say I can’t do anything to reserve the car as he reckons he’s got a stack of people waiting for it to be ‘unreserved’. I’m sure on this occasion he’s quite right and not bluffing. I’ll go off and enjoy my holiday now and resume the search when I get back. I’d much rather be freezing my nadgers off at home but someone’s got to occupy this sunbed in Florida!!!

I’ll speak to James in the morning. As I’m only back on 29th, he may well not be prepared to keep it til then anyway. Still can’t quite believe how much help (especially Stephen and his 1.5 hour marathon inspection) you lads have given me. Once I’ve been in touch with James I’ll give you all a heads up.

Did you know…… that I’m feeling like I’ve really missed out on that one in Shipley. GUTTED!!!!

Dammit…… says it’s already reserved……. Unless that’s one of you lovely fellas has bought it for me. Bob……. I know what you mean about exiting such cars these days. I had a AC Cobra a few years back. It attracted a lot of attention which was great…….. Problem was, I couldn’t get out of the thing without completely decimating all the accumulated kudos points.
