  1. Thanks, bought the Meguiars PlastX and it did a good job (see pictures below before and after). Doesn't return them to showroom condition (I guess for that it needs heavy duty polishing), but its good enough for now and much better than it was before. I've read though we should apply a UV coating on the headlamps otherwise the problem will just keep re-occurring. Any suggestions?
  2. Ah forgot the code, great thanks! So did it slip through customs and you didn't have to pay any duty or VAT?
  3. My headlamps have developed a very distinctive yellow tint. Any of you had any experience fixing this yourselves? Do I need to take it to a car detailer for polishing? I've seen loads of videos involving cleaning them with toothpaste but not sure to believe them!
  4. Yep just saw it on the other thread and messaged the seller already to see if he is willing to sell the tips alone. Luckily the passenger side seems in good condition, the drivers side is all mangled!
  5. Nice. Thinking of getting an extended warranty anyways, £895 for two years seems like a good price!
  6. Thanks, the part (52107-53012) is £250 without duty and VAT, so the Amazon option still looks the cheapest.
  7. Thanks, had a look, but with shipping, duty and VAT is still quite pricey. Emailed them to ask how much they would cost, although not sure in what condition they would be given the state of the car! The other option I am toying with is ordering from Amazon Japan. The part itself is only £125, a parcel forwarder would charge £40 to send it to the UK, and roughly another £30 on fees.
  8. Hi, I lost the lower passenger side exhaust tip (sigh). Anyone know the cheapest way to get a replacement? The part alone from Lexus is £400 without fitting. Thanks.
  9. When buying Michelin tyres, always check for their fuel card offers (I got £75 after replacing 4 tyres)
  10. I've found haggling with London dealerships quite hard, did manage to get a discount for the big 6 year service but that's about it. Are these prices inline with the rest of the manufacturers in this segment?
  11. No its the 8th year one, its just a normal full service. Found the same price listed in their official page: http://www.lexus.co.uk/owners/servicing-and-maintenance/#ServicingYourLexus
  12. Has a normal full service cost always been £545? I can't quite remember what I used to pay but it seems to have gone up. Seem very expensive! Not even sure what they do to justify that price...
  13. If the hybrid is like the 300h then it will terrible. I can't stand the CVT gearbox. 2.0 T might be promising, would be interesting to find out what performance they can get out of that engine.
  14. Renault 19 16v Ford Mondeo 1.8 MK I Mazda 6 2.0d Mazda 6 2.0d again after writing off the previous one Lexus IS220d Sport and finally the IS-F Not tempted at the moment to switch given whats there in the market.
  15. My extended warranty with Warranty Wise covered it, so the Lexus official one should definitely cover it as well, otherwise you should complain. Sat nav is not interior trim, that is a ridiculous suggestion.
  16. On my last service, they told me I had a coolant leak and needed a new water pump. They said it is a very common failure in the IS. £500 to fix it (covered under warranty). I always thought the Smart Car would be fun to drive... I am one of those that hated the CT as a courtesy car. But then again I had a new ML 250 (Merc SUV) recently and thought it was dreadful. The IS-F really spoils you.
  17. 30K on IS-F tyres? I thought on average people used to get 20K out of them and that would be considered good for a car of this power. I don't do track days or drag races on the public road but at the same time all my mileage is town driving and a bit of A roads, which I think would punish the tyres a bit more. It would be interesting to know how much mileage other IS-F users get from their tyres.
  18. Thanks for the advice. I'll be in touch with WIM. These are pictures of my front tyres (they've done around 16,000 miles). Do you guys think there is uneven/excessive wear?
  19. According to my dealer, there is too much wear on the inner side of all 4 tyres and they should be replaced, even though there is still 4-5 mm left elsewhere on average on all tyres. They also said I need my wheels aligned. Do you guys think it is necessary? Last time I had my wheels aligned by Lexus the before and after settings, as printed by them, were exactly the same! Waste of money. Apparently there is not much they can adjust anyways with the stock suspension, or that's what I've heard. Would you guys replace the tyres even though they are well within the legal limits? I'll try and take pics when I get a chance.
  20. Yes, including VAT. Like others have said though, try and negotiate, I got £200 off without too much hassle.
  21. I had an IS300h as a courtesy car. Very comfortable car, but if you want a more sporty drive it is a bit disappointing. Not because of power, but mainly the suspension, body roll, that CVT gearbox and especially the extremely light "disconnected" steering wheel. But if you are after a comfortable cruiser and commute car then it is very nice.
  22. Agree doing brakes at the dealer is ridiculously expensive. However, most of the cost is not labour, the actual genuine parts from Lexus are very expensive. Just front pads alone are almost 350 excluding labour, discs I think more than that. It is then up to you to decide whether you want genuine parts or OEM equivalents. I also went for Brembo OEM for discs but Pagid for pads.
  23. I just had my car serviced two days ago, and at the same time they carried out the fuel pipe recall and the cooling fan recall. Today I had a letter from VOSA about a fuel pressure sensor recall!? Is that the same as the fuel pipe recall? Or do I have to take it in again!?
  24. I paid 750 I think after haggling with Edgware Road. Brembo discs bought from next day brakes (front only), pagid pads from Euro Car parts for around £50. It can all be done cheaper if you are prepared to shop around.
  25. Checked today, looks like a blueish tint when they dim. Hard to tell though if the color is influenced by the environment. Also I think they only dim if the rear view dims. If you have headlights on your wing mirror and not on the rear view mirror, then it doesn't seem to dim at all.
