Hi Colin
Great looking car and great colour, although I may be prejudiced!
My car is an 2007 with 91000 miles and was originally supplied by Lexus Edinburgh but I live in West Yorkshire.
I tried to find an independent Lexus garage locally to me but to no avail. I decided to use Lexus Leeds and I have had superb service from them, they understand it is an older car and the bills haven't been too bad. They also give me parts discount for being a Lexus Owners Club member.
You could try finding other SC430 owners in your area and see who they use.
I hope you are considering the trip down to the annual SC430 meet in Coventry in June. It would be good to meet and last year was fantastic and this year should be even better.
Keep in touch and let us know how you get on.
Anthony
That would be great Anthony many thanks again for taking the time to reply sir
best regards
Colin
Many thanks for the welcoming reply
I’m afraid if I was to try to attempt any of this I would only make it worse.
I’ve had the car a week and took it to Lexus Glasgow for a health check. I’ve had a few Lexus over the years and they have been great but what’s needing done to the car is just too dear so I was hoping to find a decent garage
It’s a 2004 with 93000 miles on the clock

Dear all looking for independent lexus specialist in Glasgow west of Scotland area Looking for recommendations for repair work in north Lanarkshire and Glasgow area please for my sc430 2004
I need new radiator air compressor/air condenser and it looks like the bulbs have been removed for the check engine and vsc lights from the dashboard as they are not coming on and there are active codes in the system which are p0155-p0340-c1201 and I also have water 💦 ingress at the boot and rear quarter window passenger sideany advice would be greatly appreciated as I’ve just got the car from a private sale and I’m gutted
kind regards

Okay gents update- so Lexus Carlisle were given the opportunity to repair sunroof a second time and guess what yep it leaked again (3 months after actioning repair). I informed them I wanted to reject. They agreed and came back to me with what I believe to be a fair price after 1.5 years of ownership and 8k miles.
however I have seen a Es demo that they have and am in the process of potentially buying. I have explained to the operations director my concerns at buying from them again. I said why back in this post about my ls 430 and how Lexus may not build them like they used to. Anyway your advice throughout has been invaluable thank you 🙏 -
Hi John
you are spot on

John unsure on that one. I’ve agreed to let Lexus Carlisle repair the water ingress and this new fault happened 8 months into my ownership ( so the difficulty would be in proving the fault was there at purchase)
-
Lexus Glasgow update they can’t determine what’s causing the issue they took it out a test drive and it STALLED! It’s now running fine but they are going to investigate further Anyone else had these issues
-
Hi John
yes to having one final chance to fix the water ingress and Lexus Glasgow have the car just now for the new issue as it’s got extended warranty (bought the car in July last year). Don’t really want to drive it down to Carlisle until it’s fixed incase irreparable damage is done

So operations director agreed to terms on another note now my engine management light has come on and felt like it was going to cut out

Many thank John and Les for the assistance it’s been most helpful

Again great advice thank you!
they have already confirmed a loan car
below is what I am emailing to them
Can you do next Wednesday morning from my home address pleaseI believe that Lexus Glasgow has some direction as to what repairs to effect and I’m aware they have liaised with you.I hope that the fault is fixed on this second attempt and I would point out that should it persist I will be rejecting the car and expect a suitable refund of the purchase price less appropriate usageCan you or (dealer principal) please confirm that Lexus Carlisle are agreeable to these terms and if not I will be rejecting the car with immediate effectRegardsColin -
So I sent email at 8am this morning and got a response via email at 1.35pm. Poor communication and customer service. They want to collect the car and fix the water ingress so they can minimise potential costs to them. I’ve spoke to Lexus Customer Relations and told them my concern as Carlisle has been poor in communication and I’m not confident in their workmanship. So I either get Carlisle to fix or reject. Would have preferred Glasgow to do it
-
Thank you so much for the advice!!! Here is my response to Lexus Carlisle
Good morning DougieI called yesterday, not sure if you got the message.Lexus Glasgow informed me that you are not prepared to cover the cost of investigation and repair (if not covered by the extended warranty) as you have spent too much on the car alreadyI am very concerned that this is the case for a water ingress (in exactly the same area) that was reported within 2 weeks of original purchase and has not been rectifiedSpending too much money on a car does not absolve from your legal responsibility
if you do not fix the water ingress I will reject the carRegardsColin- 2

Hi Roy you would think
Lexus Glasgow have contacted Carlisle for auth to investigate and pay for repairs should the leak not be covered by the warranty Lexus Carlisle refused saying they have spent too much on the car already I am soo frustrated
-
Hi I got 2 years but not sure if water ingress would be covered. I was also contemplating rejecting car as this was an issue when I bought it

Did you not get 12 months warranty from Lexus Carlisle Colin

Just thought I would update. The water ingress I had when I purchased car is back in the exact same place. Looks like it’s coming in at the area of the interior light and sun glasses holder behind the rear view mirror. Any advice would be most welcome. Thanks Colin

Difficult to make a blanket statement to that effect to be honest. All I can say is based on my experience I wouldn’t use them ever again

200t on an RX? Isn't that too small for such a big car?
I am planning to get a GS 200t and I am worried about it being under too much stress and failing in time.
No it’s pretty rapid but very vocal

All ok now?
Hi yes all sorted although the dealership didn’t ensure the body work had been repaired and ended up just giving me the money to sort myself

I have to say my car bought on description from Derby needed 2 weeks in the bodyshop to get it to Lexus Approved standard.
Lexus dealers seem to be a rather lax on preparation compared to other manufacturers approved used.
When I picked up my IS300h it had to immediately go back into the workshop as it had been driven into a fence in the dealerships compound between me buying it and picking it up removing a big section of the front valence . No one bothered to tell me!!!!
Wow!
i wonder if Lexus are concerned at this, it seems to be happening at quite a few dealerships
surely they realise it makes a mockery of “experience amazing”

Thanks guys for the reply’s
it was Lexus Carlisle
I felt they were dragging there heels a bit as there was a bit of uncertainty about who was financially responsible ie warranty sales or service so I emailed Lexus customer relations and that seemed to make them more agreeable since then it’s been good service. At the end of the day the faults were with the car when I bought it so I wasn’t interested who paid I just wanted it fixed. Can’t say they have been unreasonable just a bit slow perhaps.
what dealer was it where you swapped your car?
really like the 200 it’s a great car to drive . It’s also a cheaper alternative to the hybrid by a good 5-7k and as I do a low mileage it made good sense
still miss my ls 430 don’t think they will ever make a car like that again
