  1. All sorts, was from some dodgy dealer guy that i didnt realise was dodgy at the time, he just goes round buying cars from auctions, sticks a few grand on the price and sells em.

They advertise that every car gets a full safety check before its sold...after having mine 2 days i noticed the tyres were well and truely shafted, so i took it back and they accused it of being me driving like an idiot. So to be on the safe side i took it up to the lexus dealer for an early MOT and it failed on loads... restricted free movement, brake components restricted free movement, brakes pulling uneven, brake cables deteriorated and a few others.

So i took it back to the dealer demanding it got fixed under the warranty and he said hed fix everything else but the brake cables had been done deliberate because it looked like a clean cut and they tried accusing lexus of conning me out of money...So i took it back up to lexus and told them what theyd said and they showed me it was a crack not a cut...and the dealer was just trying to say it was deliberate to get out of paying for it and they suggested i took him to trading standards....and on the way there i crashed.

Trading standards said if i got the car there in one piece i could of sued up to 5 grand without the help of a solicitor, But due to the fact i was driving the car with a failed MOT i didnt really have a leg to stand on and they said there was no way of proving the car was in that condition the day i bought it. Brake cables dont wear in a week do they?!!? <_<

But yeah...thats only half of my sob story :crybaby:

Think iv just read through that, i might give it a test because to be honest it could be anything, the car sat there for a month before i started fixing it.

  2. Where did you get hit from to dent the wing like that? If from behind, then there would clearly be some reasonable damage for the force to travel through the wing.............is your boot floor undamaged?

Long story really, basically to cut it short, when i bought it the guy ripped me off and the car was basically a death trap, on the way to trading standards i spun it on a corner, hit 2 gate posts and slid along the hedge. Cost me round about 3 grand to fix and the guy got away with it. I got more pics in my album.

Apart from the rear splitter being cracked and my back box being dinted in thats the only part of the back end that suffered not sure what hit it, Boot floors fine.

Iv tried looking while theres been water poured on it, it looks like its just running down the window as normal, and along the seal and its getting in somewhere round above where the dint was, iv checked the seal though and there doesnt seem to be any damage :duh:

  3. Have abit of a problem with my boot, only just noticed a horrible damp smell when i get in the car, checked everywhere and after lifting up the mat in the boot i have myself a small water feature

Its in the well in the bottom left corner and i think it might be getting through the seals, its probably from when i had the accident and the back wing got abit dinted but it didnt really look like it would of had any effect on the seal so just got it filled in and sprayed over

You guys got any good ideas how i can sort it myself without having to fork out more money?, and dont suppose theres any way i can get all that water out other then a plastic cup is there? Mate told me there should be like a plug in the bottom that i can tap out but havent really looked. Could do with sorting it out before even more :tsktsk: weather comes

  4. I wanted the projector lights on ebay too, but heard so much about fitting i didn't bother! I also tried IS300 lights which have the same fitting problems as the projector ones. Scott, how'd you manage to change the beam around?

There is also a place in US called AAC, have a youtube video too, they can do you a custom projector design and you can send your own lights to them.

I always wanted the standard rears but lit in LED (available in US) it seems the US is catered much much more for aftermarket lights than the UK!

Demitris, your other option is to buy some cheap ebay headlight (listed now) and take them apart, clean, spray, job done!

I just emailed the guy i bought them off sayin that he didnt mention they werent fit for UK roads in his advert and he just said it can be fixed by swapping the lenses infront of the bulb around but hed be happy to give me a refund.

So instead of tampering with them myself and losing out on the refund if something went wrong i emailed him back asking if he could do it to a set for me then send them out, and id send this set back, he said hed happily do it but then just kept emailing me saying 'il look into it'

So i got bored and had a bash myself, took some doing but i think their ok now. But if you were thinking of getting some id be careful

  5. would probs be cheaper to mail your wheels to the states.. have them tripple chromed (6 layer if you can afford it) and sent back.. rather than pay twice as much for a pants job in this country that will take months to get done....

I know a lot of companies that although it doesnt always save them massive amounts.. send parts to america to get chromed becuase its better quality and can have a much quicker turnaround.. for example a set of forks, wheels and a few other bits for a bike that were sent monday and back friday!

Yeah il have to have a think about it really, cuz if its going to cost a bomb for them to get plated i may aswell just buy the set from the states. Not too sure yet though, might just have a shop about and buy a different set. Il have a think about it, Cheers mate

  6. Lookin very nice man!....

Thinkin about lookin for a set of alloys myself, the standard ones on mine have had it.

Anyone got any ideas what would look tidy?. Friend said i should just save my money and get mine refurbed in chrome like in the pic

    74157.JPG.thumb_575x431_10.jpg

Could do with some ideas of cheapish web sites to look really, iv just been lookin on www.rochfordtyres.com.

  7. I agree with stevie, On mine thats what failed the MOT. luckily i was able to get inside the lights and switch the lenses round so the beam dipped up in the right direction, not sure if you can do it on all lights though so if you bought some from abroad and cant sort it then youd have to buy some stupid lookin stickers to go over the front of the lights that deflect the beam, thats what i had to do til i finally decided to fix it <_<

Not too sure about how difficult the fitting was, i had a friend do it but according to him he had to cut a couple of bits out of the old light frame.

If i wer you just read the descriptions carefully and email the seller to make sure its going to fit your car for definite, because its gonna be abit of a pain if you buy lights from another country and then have to send them back

  8. I had the same problem when i crashed mine, searched high and low all the scrap yards around for a decent pair but in the end i had to settle with eBay. For a normal standard pair i was looking at £350.

But then i noticed a pair from america for only £200ish and they had the halo rings so i bought em, had abit of hasstle fitting them though but was worth the £150 difference

  9. I'm not sure that's definitively true. You can programme two-button keys as masters.

I thought the car came with three keys.

    1. Master key - three button

    2. Normal key - three button

    3. Valet key - two button

meaning that it is possible to have a three button key that is not the master, as you say. You could have key 2 in my example.

Yeah thats what i thought aswell... cos at the moment only one of my 3 button keys works (which i assumed was the master key?) and the other 2 keys need batteries, just havent got round to it yet. :eerrrmm:

  10. I got these ones for mine from eBay...They look quite tidy, they have the halo rings and thers 3 L.E.Ds along the bottom that also light up but it doesnt show them on in the pic.

    HL-IS300-FBa.jpg

Theres abit of a downside though... id only recommend them to someone that has a hell of alot of patience because for starters they were a :tsktsk: to fit and then ontop of that they failed the MOT because they dipped up towards the wrong side of the road with them being from america, never actually thought about that when i bought em because it said nothing about it in the UK ad...but i just turned the projector lenses around and now its all good B)

  11. Yeah i got the exact same problem, havent got a clue what it is. Took it to a garage down the road from me bt was a complete waste of time. The noise jst came back after a couple of days. Its sounded dodgy ever since it failed its MOT due to 'restricted free movement' and they reckoned they fixed it but thats how the squeaky noise started, been meaning to check it out myself for ages bt i dont really know what im looking for...plus i never usually have time :lookaround:

  12. Got a slight problem, wonder if anyone can help me...

All started after i crashed my car and got it all repaired, the standard CD player wouldnt work... wouldnt skip or load any disc. So i took it to the local lexus garage (carlisle) and the guy asked if it had been jump started, which it had.

He reckoned thats what the problem was and that itd knackered the cd player, he said i could pay up to 400 quid to get it repaired and it would be away up to 6 weeks, or i could pay a grand there and then and have a new one fitted.

So instead i thought id have a bash at fixing it myself first, took the cd player out, opened it up, took all the discs out, put it back together...and voila!, half an hours work fixed the bloody thing.

But after puttin the whole center console back together the clock and outside temp screen at the top isnt working. the orange background light is on but its not coming up with any digits at all.

Aint really a big problem like, i can live without it, but was just wondering if anyone had any ideas how i can get it working without me takin it to the garage again n have them quote me something il laugh at

    Cheers! :D
