Apparently owning a Lexus in the US is a prestigious affair...and they take errant noises more seriously. Over here, more of a "whatya expect...".

Sadly, not.  Lexus stopped fitting these high pressure fuel pump noise dampeners to the LS and consider the diesel-like rattling noise "normal" in their flagship $100,000 sedan.  Heck, if a Mercedes diesel can rattle like a bag of old bolts, I guess they figure they can get away with it.............  really sad!

I'm ordering the dampeners (4 - two on each side) and will report back if it helps.

  2. As far as I know, the carbon buildup issue with the symptoms you describe is pretty much confined to the IS250 engine (doesn't happen with the IS350). Which car do you have (your handle says IS200 but you say the car is an IS250)?

A Lexus dealer can bring up any service work that was done at a lexus dealership (its always stored on their central corporate Lexus computer) but not work that was performed elsewhere.

  3. I dont beleive this post!!! :shutit: Leather is natural product and WILL crease in different ways depending on the hide.I think its time to stop calling in at this board.

Actually, if you've owned Lexus cars for any length of time, you will know that these creases turn into cracks in a couple of years and may even split/tear after about 5-6 years. It's unfortunate but, having owned Lexus cars for 15 years, I've seen this in all their cars except the LS series (for some reason). I wouldn't be too quick to get it replaced under warranty as the replacement seat cover will just do the same thing. If you bring this concern to your dealer's attention now but offer to wait a year or so "to see if it gets worse" (it will), they should replace it for premature wear but you'll get a couple extra years out of the replacement.

    Good luck!
