on the subject off code readers.were exactly do you plug these in? i also have a trc and abs light on ,,,,,,but i have put this down to the car sittin for a yr.....cheers(sorry for stealin ur thread)
You plug the code reader under the steering wheel on the right and just above the pedals... If you have a look or feel for it there is a cap that you lift off then plug in your OBDII device.

Sounds very similar to what happened to me recently and it was a coil pack gone... I also had not driven the car due to bad weather really.
P0303 - was the code I got, the last number relates to which cylinder is at fault.

Welcome to the club mate, I have to say the ownership of the IS200 would have not been the same without this club.
I hope things get easier for you and any questions just ask!
-
I always thought you cant make a car look younger than it is but by all means make it look older...
-
-
I thinks its part number 55618-53040 available from Lexus.
I was thinking of getting one myself...
-
Had to curve it to fit but it was easy to do, two pairs of hands will help though. Because of the cold weather I warmed the boot lid and spoiler with a hairdryer to help the tape to stick. Don't remove the backing tape in one go either, remove the first couple of inches and place the spoiler on the boot. Remove the backing tape as you curve the spoiler along the boot pushing down as you do so.
Thanks, thats helpful will give it a bash when it warms up a bit.

it should be pre shaped - thanks for the photo!
Mine was not!
It talks about bending in the instuctions, will have a go when the weather improves.
-
Rubbish pic but you get the idea
Looks very similar to the one I also bought off eBay, not had a chance to fit it yet.
Did you have to bend it into shape as you stuck it down?
-
the light were the rear view mirror is has gone, I think its the dome or map light. So I bought this.
Has anyone used this type of interior light?
What is the dome light and what is the map light?
The map light is the light closest to your rear view mirror and the dome light is at the centre of the cabin on the roof lining that can turn on when the doors open.
I bought the same LED lights from eBay about a year ago and placed in the dome light all I can say is its so bright lights up the whole car! Every single person who has got into the car comments on it and whenever I unlock the car by remote passers by make comments as the interior lights up blue.
I am unsure that this will fit in your map light as its a bit big? Maybe you can cut off what you dont need...

Issue sorted 5 min job just changed a coil pack for a new one, Car drives superb again :D
Bought from jap parts 2 for £100 delivered so I now have one spare if another fails.
If anyone has this issue in the future please do yourself a favour and dont buy used from eBay!
Cant believe I fell for that...

Issue sorted bought new coils from Jap parts.
Please close mods
Thanks for Yeldarb & Asi.

Sorry to hear this, I hope you get your IS back on the road asap...
Have you tried going to a Lexus dealer? It may work out more cost effective than keeping replacing parts without solving the problem.
Quick search brought this place up http://www.westfieldmotors.co.uk/index.php Its in Essex but I have no idea what they are like but they claim to be Lexus specialist.
Good luck.
-
guys,
will these fit on a is200?
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/01-05-LEXUS...=item35a65640e6
rear drinks holders...
Thats the part, is yours missing?
There is also the internal metal part that it slides into that sits in the centre console but you shoud already have that.
-
sold all of them mate sorry will try and find out from near breakers if they have any
Thanks man, i rang loads this morning got some really stupid prices. The best i have found is Jap Parts £52 delivered (copy part) but I am thinking if one has gone how long before the rest will do the same?
There was a guy on eBay selling used ones for £10 each and he had ten! gutted he sold out very quickly.
-
I sometimes use them if (a) there's some left and (B) I remember to but rarely see anyone else use them? Surely for hygienic reasons and not just getting the fuel on the skin it should be a good idea to? How grubby are the petrol pump unit thingys?
I started using them at the shell recently, got fed up with stinking hands and for hygiene reasons.

PM Asi, he had a couple lying around IIRC.
I was sure he sold them but will give him a PM Thanks

Hi,
I am after a coil pack to try and resolve my P0303 fault code
Part Number 90919-02230
Thanks
**EDIT this is also a part from some LS430's **
-
Plugged in the OBD2 reader and it came up with two fault codes but both the same?
P0303 and its stated Cyclinder 3 misfire detected.
I looked at the freeze frame data and then cleared the codes and started her back up.
I have no check engine light nor the TRC flashing at the mo but the car is shaking on idle still have not driven it but have started to look into what the fault code means.
looked at this site
http://www.bahamutcars.com/workshop/IS_98-05/
Now I am confused thought it would be change coil pack but it could be a number of things not to sure now?
Any ideas?

Have not used the car all week just gave it a start a couple of times, had the centre console out as I was fitting a front arm rest that i bought from eBay.
Got the job finished today started the car and I could hear clicking from the engine bay, went to investigate and it was coming from the throttle body.
Got back in the car and the engine management light is on! Also after a minute the TRC OFF started flashing.
All I did was fit an arm rest don’t think I could have disturbed anything whilst I was doing so, could be a coincidence?
Coil pack maybe as at one point it felt like the car was slightly shaking and the gear stick seemed to vibrate more than usual? I have not even driven it as I would rather not do any more harm to it.
I have an OBD II reader but the laptop has packed it in great timing might need to purchase a cheap standalone one from eBay.
Any thoughts guys, I will get the code read asap but in the meantime anything else to explore?

Hi IZZY,
I switched straight from mineral oil to fully synthetic, all we did is oil and filter (inc sump washer) changed.
The best bit is, like I have mentioned before I could feel the difference after.
thanks Abbas - great to hear.
quick one and forgive me for my lack of knowledge...so mineral oil.. was that like semi synthetic??
based on your advice and oil mans advice.. i will go ahead and move on to silkoline 5w 30 :-)
i guess a engine flush will be a good idea...ofcourse will change the oil filter.
ta
Good choice you wont regret it!
Mineral oil is not semi synthetic it is what I like to call standard oil.
I am not too keen on engine flush and would not reccommend it, i guess it depends how your engine has been maintained in the past. A regular oil and filter change is good enough in my opinion.
the
Oh and dont forget to change sump washer gasket.
Let us know how you get on...

i need to top up my coolent but as i couldnt get to the dealer to buy the lexus stuff i went looking for the ethleyne glycol stuff could anyone tell me if this is ok just to top up the rad a bit i mean will it mix with the lexus stuff already in the rad without any problems and can anyone tell me where i can get the ethleyne glycol stuff because all i saw was stuff like halfords advanced 5 year coolent with Enhanced corrosion inhibitor and Silicate Free Organic Acid Technology (OAT) is this any good? thanks again.
Toyota sells it as it is a Toyota product... Ask for Toyota long life coolant red, I think you can buy it in 1ltr or 5 litr size.
Dont know about alternatives

Wet sanding switching to a higher grade each time and then polishing should bring them up nicely.
Something like this:

You will need a polisher or an attachment for your drill.
Worked for me...

Tte Springs
in Brakes & Suspension
Posted
I went for the TTE springs from Lexus too, pretty sure there is only one set and it is supposed to be a 30mm drop. However mine when compared to old springs was a difference of 5omm (my IS was like a kite!).
I have pics of mine but not on standard 5 spokes mine are the 11 spokes 17" standard ...let me know if you wanna see and i will stick them up.
