  1. They ceased updating cars with a HUD. Suggest you ask Customer Service if they have solved the issue with the HUD and when they think your car would be updated. Don’t be fobbed off by being told it will come as an OTA update - it’s a major system update - evidenced by it trashing the HUD. I badgered my dealer and they did it as soon as it was originally available.
  2. I should have added that Labour have indicated that they will restore the fuel duty currently cut until 2025. I reckon they’ll not only restore the cut but increase the fuel duty from April 25 so they can say it has kept the taxation on fuel the same as personal tax on EV’s. This is Milliband’s territory so I can see them ramping up tax on ICE cars after reinstating the ban back to 2030 extended by the Tories recently to 2035. These are easy taxes to collect, can be sold as ‘green’ but will be inflationary due to the cost increase on transport. Stand by for the current exemption from the £ 450 Additional Rate for 24/25 for existing EV’s being removed too. Some London councils have increased parking fees for diesels and are about to bring in increased fees for cars over 2 tonne, which most EV’s are due to the batteries. As all these types of taxes are easy to collect by using cameras, I expect more novel ways to treat car owners as tax ‘cows’ as it aligns with the climate change direction of travel.
  3. They don’t need to as the Tories have already increased it from 2% in tax year 2024 / 2025 to 3% after which it will increase by 1% a year each year to reach 5% in 2027/2028.
  4. As Tesla only make EV’s then they can sell their unused % - I wonder who will be buying them ? I really wish Lexus had held back the RZ until 1st Jan to earn the credit towards the 22% and taken time to have fully developed the car with the update etc. I would have waited and probably bought a Porsche Mecan EV instead of putting my trust in Lexus.
  5. Thanks John. I thought it may be the signal at home but it was the same away from it too. I’ll try it again tomorrow.
  6. I’m not sure my car has had the recent OTA update to cause it, but now on start up the Lexus Sat nav takes much longer to find directions, noticeable when using recents. Before I would select a recent destination and it would display the route almost immediately. Now I get the spinning icon whilst it thinks about it - has anyone else noticed this recently ?
  7. Thanks for that. My fingers are crossed that we don’t end up going the way Range Rover did - that said I now have no confidence in Lexus’s IT after them screwing the cars with HUDs after fiddling with the range update.
  8. Am I the only owner (not that there are very many) to have received a letter regards an OTA update to do with hazard flashers and remote pre-conditioning. The letter says only certain cars are involved - mine doesn’t have the issue so I’m hoping every owner gets the letter whether their car is being updated. The main reason I px’d my Range Rover was because every time they did an OTA update it caused issues and invariably overwrote the previous fix of something else. I really do not want this OTA update to overwrite the range update which is worked well, even with my car having a HUD. Reading the letter, there is no way to decline the installation, it is installed automatically.
  9. Lexus warrant that the battery will have at least 70% in 8 years but they say it is expected to have 90% at 10 years. In that time, if I had kept my Range Rover Velar I would probably be on my third engine by then. The way things are going, within 5 years you’ll be parking your car in an out of town Park & Ride as all ICE cars will be banned in all sorts of places. Also, Labour have declined to confirm that they will keep fuel duty the same, can’t you just hear them saying that oversize gas guzzlers will be paying more in tax than small & EV cars. I feel sure that by the time battery life becomes an issue there will be businesses buying redundant batteries to recycle and replacement costs will also be significantly lower. EV’s are not for everyone in the same way ICE’s aren’t. If you do say 30k a year for business (other than the tax benefit) and can’t have a home charger they are not really suitable. If you have a home charger and do mostly short journeys they are great. Every time I go past a local primary school in winter there are masses of cars with the engines running to keep warm - which can’t be right as we now know how damaging that can be. As you say GSLV6, everyone is entitled to their opinions and to drive want they wish to - believe me I am no ecofundamentalist, but there is a lot of misinformation about EV’s.
  10. Everyone is entitled to their opinion but your review is the first I have seen reporting the interior to be cheap. Plenty of other criticisms but the reviews say the interior is very good. Unfortunately the depreciation is wild on all EV’s at the moment - everyone that has bought rather than on a PCP will either have to keep the car for a very long time or take a massive hit. Even Porsche Taycans are suffering severe depreciation so little hope for others.
  11. There is not much risk on the RZ’s as they are unpopular !
  12. I just got a quote online from Lexus Insurance sold as being specifically for the RZ. With extra cover and a £ 1,000 excess it came out at £ 800. This is about £ 300 more than I paid NFU last November so may be competitive after policies going up this year.
  13. The opaque seems to work really well, throughout last summer I can’t remember the car being overally hot when left parked in the sun.. Recently in about 20c the car is quite cool but my drive is sheltered so that may help and in very hot weather I use the preconditioning which helps a lot !
  14. Anybody want to bet against Labour talking about and then bringing in road mileage charges for EV’s as they pay no fuel duty, only 5% VAT when charged at home.
  15. I really hope you’re right but the younger MP’s won’t necessarily be thinking about 5 years time. You only have to look at Labour in Wales - reduced the speed limit to 20mph (no doubt thinking it would impress the Greens and young climate warriors), according to the BBC at a cost of £ 33m, then grown ups got involved and it has been scrapped.
  16. Not wholly relevant but here goes John - I’m old enough to have worked during the very strong unions in the ‘70’s and labour taxation. Once bitten …… I have been mulling over equity relief and when Labour get in will probably take as much as I can as I am sure Labour will tax equity release as unearned income. I really do hope I’m wrong, but with so many young Labour MP’s viewing us old ones as having handed on a plate they won’t be able to resist it. This I think, is why Hunt yesterday challenged Labour to deny they are going to tax property as capital gains tax - if this gets out it may have the same effect as when May’s votes plummeted after the ‘rob your house for care costs’ election !
  17. I’ve had 4 PHEV’s before the RZ and all of the charging flaps were similar. I had 2 Merc’s and they had a common issue where if any force was put on them when open then they broke. As they were at the rear it was easy to brush up against them - when they broke the rear bumper had to be removed and a whole new ‘socket’ was required. On the Merc forum this was a common complaint. The BMW was exactly the same as the RZ. The Ranger Rover Velar’s was more sturdy and more like a ‘petrol flap’ but strangely there was a lever in the car to open the petrol flap but not the charging flap. I have the Takumi with the panoramic glass roof and the switchable shading works well. There is one minor frustration with it - most of the time I want it clear but it defaults to opaque every time you turn the car off. They could easily have an option to select the default - summer opaque, winter, autumn, spring, clear !
  18. When Toyota announced yesterday it was ceasing delivery of certain models due to the ‘safety certification scandal’ it included a Lexus model. Trawling the web I came across an article saying it was the 4th generation RX. There is no concern over the cars themselves it seems, like dieselgate, Japanese manufacturers rigged the certification process - seems to be the passenger safety and pedestrian alerting systems are not quite as good as reported.
  19. I’ve just read that it’s the 4th generation RX
  20. There is an option to turn off camera alerts.
  21. Any warning message - the Driver Monitor flashes a text box. Have you disabled sound warning as well as visual on the speed limits. If your not getting a warning message or light then I suggest a call to the dealer.
  22. Can’t help with best lease deals as unfortunately I bought mine. The ride is very smooth and the Takumi comes with front and rear performance dampers which seem to help. All RZ’s have Direct Drive which is alleged to be very advanced. I don’t know whether it’s the Direct Drive or if the car has rear wheel steer (there are conflicting reports on the web) but I find the turning circle is excellent. I had a RR Velar before which was only a bit bigger but the turning circle on the RZ is significantly less and noticeable in crowded car parks. I don’t know if the UX has it, but the RZ has a really good size under boot floor storage which takes a lot more than the cable. Which is a good place to store the solar battery charger for the 12v battery which seems to run flat if the car isn’t driven for say a fortnights holiday ! I presume it’s the 12v battery on your NX keeps packing up - a common issue, not only on Lexus / Toyota’s. I changed the factory fit Dunlops for Michelin Cross Climate 2’s. They have done about 5k and as part of my first service they were checked and the video guy said they were like new - he said they would probably do 20k+. I found them quieter but John on here (he has had many previous Lexus) found the Dunlops to be very quiet.
  23. I saved the princely sum of £ 30 by taking out a service plant. Still it does protect against inflation. I pay £ 26 / month for 2 A Services and a B. I end up paying in May 2025 but get a service in Mat 2026 and can transfer it to another (very very doubtful) or stop paying and get a repayment if I do get a Porsche Mecan !
  24. You’ll have to ask the dealer about new cars - The issue is fairly recent so no idea about cars about to be delivered.
  25. Service is every year or 10k. I bought a service plan - about £ 26 / month. I think it sensible to get everything checked every year plus as you say, from 3 years the annual service keeps the warranty. The service plan is for 2 A services and a B service. After having a Range Rover Velar from new at £ 600+ an annual service the Lexus is a bargain !
