  1. Jamboo, FINALLY!!! I bet you are chuffed to bits with it and it does look stunning. Just given mine a good clean and I keep making extended toilet breaks while in the office so I can take another look at her (sad I know!). The manuals are another thing altogether. I gave up in the end as they are not a very riveting read. Must revisit them as a few people have asked me what certain signs mean on the sat nav and I haven't a clue Keep us updated on your progress, I'd be interested to know what the fuel consumption is like.
  2. I hear that Jamboo... the Sun is hardly a bastion of truth! I rather listen to what other drivers are saying via this site and also in some of the driver reliability surveys (Auto Express, J. D. Power, Top Gear...)
  3. Anyone tried this? http://www.logjamelectronics.com/soundauxlex.html Looks good Tango but it would appear that it has to be ordered from the States and before doing that I would like to hear from someone who has fitted one, to see how easy it is etc.
  4. And as if by magic... I have a 60Gb iPod video and for Christmas my Dad bought me a Belkin cable and in car Charger. The cable works a treat, just switch MM unit to Aux, set iPod on Shuffle and away you go. OK so it would be nicer to be able to have better integration but for now I am happy. To just correct Jamboo I have a charger but it does not fit perfectly, because of the height of the charger while in the socket the armrest does not close fully. I recall Tango having a charger that fit much better. I have only used my charger once, when my iPod ran out of juice, after a particularly long trip away. I have Bose Sounddock which means that it usually has a pretty full charge. I currently have 34Gb of music on the iPod which is way more music than you could hope to have on a set of MP3 Cds. I have a couple of MP3 cds which I burned just to test the MM unit out but to be honest they never get used.
  5. Having owned an IS200 Sport for three years and am currently the very proud owner of an IS250 SE-L, I find the new car light years ahead in every way. Yes the 200 was a great car with fantastic looks but the 250 has it beat in every way. I just could not imagine going back to the old car now. Compare the new IS to its peers (BMW, Mercedes, Audi, Saab) on looks alone the IS has them beat hands down.
  6. Got a call from the windscreen guys, the screen has arrived and will be fitted tomorrow. Earlier than I thought so I'm happy about that!
  7. I don't have a car, I have a LEXUS! For me the engine size is incidental, the IS represented the best value for money in the "Compact Exec" market, luxurious, superbly specced, quiet, rare. I mean I could go on but we all know its the best car out there, right? However I will say one thing, which is probably being contradictory and getting back to the topic, I think if the demand is there for a bigger engined car then Lexus should satisfy it... Then I must be a poser...or a girly man (whatever that is!) :ooh-ducky:
  8. Actually I would be interested in a hard top convertible... I'm at a loss to understand this fascination with power and speed. I mean realistically on a day to day basis, how fast can you actually go bearing in mind traffic lights, schools, speed cameras, traffic humps etc? (please don't flame me - it's just a question!)
  9. I just been told that there is not a single IS 250 SE-L windscreen (i.e with rain sensor etc) in the country and that I will have to wait for it to come from Japan!!!!!! :o Estimated time of arrival end of March!
  10. Or alternatively fasten seatbelt before driving! :P
  11. Just had the windscreen guys on the phone and I will be getting a Lexus windscreen with no extra charge other than the excess - result! I've also booked to take it into them to have it fitted. Thanks for the help guys.
  12. Guys, thanks for lots of great advice. I am waiting to hear both from the Windscreen people (Jamboo, I am dealing with Coventry cos that is where I work and they were going to do it while I was at work) who are trying to source a genuine screen and also check what the Insurance company were going to do about the cost issue. I think I will take the car to them (as opposed to them coming to me) and I'll be sure to mention about the clips etc when it is booked in.
  13. Just finished washing the car and notice that the windscreen has a crack in it :tsktsk: Rang the insurance company and said I wanted an OEM replacement but they say that they will supply a generic version and that I will have to pay the difference. Is this correct? I thought they would have to supply a Lexus windscreen?
  14. I have had my IS250 since December and have never had a problem with the Keyless entry either when locking or unlocking the car. I usually have my Nokia mobile with me and the bluetooth is always switched on. I think that the problem could be your bluetooth headset/phone, as bluetooth does use a form of radio wave, as does the key fob on the keyless entry. Additionally when you swithced off the bluetooth headset the keyless system does work.
  15. So now who's jammy (or jammier)? Well done matey - go get 'em!! But hell yes, ask for a discount...they can't just expect you fork out £800 unplanned squids - at least get a free service, or rubber mats, bootliner, hell the lot! I was led to believe that the "problem" with the MM is that too many people want it - not many cars are selling without (or as many as planned)...so if you want one without (non Sport) you can have in 10 days tops! Or at least that's what my "friendly" Lex dealer told me! Slightly but when Lexus first unveiled the IS there were many cries of it's awful, nothing like the old car etc. Then when prices were announced the comments were "too expensive" and "who is going to pay £3k for Sat Nav?". It would appear that most people are now plumping for the MM but I find it hard to believe that Lexus has underestimated how many people are going to buy their cars or how many want the MM option. Is it the case that they have been caught off guard hence the lack of firm delivery dates?
  16. Jamboo, I too dealt with Lexus Leicester when ordering my new IS and I felt that there service had slipped since my last purchase. I have the car now and am very happy but then yesterday I received a letter from Lexus Financial Services that I owe them money because there is still an outstanding balance. Even though I traded the car in December! When I ordered the car in November I said I didn't want to have to make an other payment and Leicester agreed, told me to cancel my DD. I've since been told by Lexus FS that Leicester had no right to tell me to do that. I too spoke too Richard the dealer principle, he does like to waffle...new IS is great, exceeding all forcasts blah blah... He did say that he would get Jon Browne to ring me the next day to sort it out because he was not in today. I'll keep you posted.
  17. I always found both Coventry and Leicester expensive and always took mine to Sheffield even though I'm based near Rugby. If you factor in Gold membership and the fact that I would coincide my servicing with a trip to see the folks up North, it was still cheaper than visiting either of my local service centres. Plus the guys in Sheff are always very friendly. I hear Hanley is very cheap too.
  18. Ordered on the 25th November 2005 on the basis one was in the country. It wasn't. Took delivery on 30th December. I ordered a Silver SE-L in Argento with MM but I think if I had wanted say White or Gold with MM then I might still be waiting.
  19. Eunos and all the others who are waiting for their cars I really do feel for you. As the owner of a new IS I too was messed around by my dealer when it came to ordering my car. I placed an order and deposit with the dealer on the basis that the car was in the country and could be here in a week. The very next day the dealer rings because there is a "mix up" and my car is actually on a boat on its way to Blighty! Arrrrrghhhh. If it any consolation all this was forgotton as I drove up to the dealer and saw my new baby bathed in a soft white light in a handover bay Guys, I can only guess that Lexus has been overwhelmed with orders and that when you get your cars all this angst will be a distant memory.
  20. Good choice Bigplanet. I went for the Auto SE-L and I love it. I agree with Carlos and too find the airbag sign a little distracting. But the car is a HUGE leap forward compared to the old IS.
  21. I too had the same problem, pulled the seat belt out to put it on and it did not retract to tighten, so had to drive home with a loose seat belt, but after driving a short distance the belt seemed to rectify itself. This happened five days into having the new car and has not occured since. If it happens again I will go straight back to the dealer.
  22. I thought there was no ventilation feature in the Escaine seats (i.e. not real leather either but some prefer it), and you get 18" wheels and sports suspension, no wood but you do get the shiny plastic around the console. No power sunshade... and that's your lot... If you get the diesel, you do get a different Diff...which ought to make it faster, but less economical and a spin proof tractioning system...VDIM> The SE-L also has illuminated front door sills, which look the dogs when you open the door at night! I would have gone for the Sport if they had done an automatic because I really like the 18" wheels.
  23. I think this is where the lawyers get involved. They may be just being overly cautious to avoid any potential lawsuits.
