  1. The Sat Nav manual does say that the Nav is no substitue for local knowledge. I think this is a standard get out clause.
  2. The only thing that stopped me ordering the Sport was the lack of an auto option but having said that I do love my SE-L.
  3. Think I've just seen my next vehicle purchase!
  4. Looks stunning in black, very nice indeed. The wheels don't look like the OEM 18" and I thought the Sport didn't come with an auto box?
  5. Speaking to the dealer recently it would appear that I should be lucky I got mine when I did as the waiting list is now very long. As I have bought my car from them they would have no reason to lie. Actually maybe they are trying to make it appear I have done the best thing ever by ordering when I did! As for colours I love the way silver cars look. Black is a good colour too if you are prepared to keep it clean.
  6. All this talk of 2s and 1s, pah! real men choose 0 every time, right down to the wood!
  7. As someone who has bought two cars (value £50K+) and had all my servicing done there, I would consider myself a VERY GOOD customer.
  8. Sorry to go but I have to agree with Jamboo, I vowed never to buy another car from them after finding out they charged me for car mats which they said would be free but I foolishly did. To begin with they were really good but as soon as I signed on the dotted line and paid a deposit, the phone calls stopped, they wouldn't return call, they wouldn't commit to a delivery date, they misinformed me... the list goes on. Next time, if there is a next time (and I only say that because I want to keep the car forever; I love, love love it!), I'm definitely taking my business elsewhere. So take it from this that you didn't get the JDP form from Leic Lex either? Funnily enough, No I didn't!

  10. Ta Daaaa! I had a little crack in the windscreen of the SE-L Auto which got bigger with the cold weather. I didn't really want to get it changed as like Jamboo I wanted to keep the car as original as poss. I had it changed at an Auto Windscreens who supplied original Lexus glass, but that is only because there was at the time no alternative as the model is so new. Although they did a very good job I think that there is slightly increased wind/road noise but my other half tells me I'm imagining it. I'll get Lexus to check when it's next in for a service. As others have said if poss get the windscreen fixed rather than replaced and if it is replaced take it to them and watch everthing they do!
  11. The IS250 brochure says that the centre console is created from a single piece of wood so that the "purity of colour, grain and even feel remain uncompromised!". The salesman told me they are hand finished and supplied by Yamaha! I think it looks a lot better than the metal effect in the SE.
  12. If it is any consolation to your other half, cattle are killed for their meat rather than their hides, the leather is a "by-product". Back on-topic - the quality of the leather is superb!!!!
  13. B)--> QUOTE(Carlos B @ Mar 25 2006, 09:38 PM) ← Slightly off topic....but still talking lights. Has anyone noticed how the lights on the dash and dials also dim automatically. This happens even if you haven't got the lights set to auto. Say you're driving in fairly low light and go under a motorway flyover, the difference in light can make the electronics dim your dash, then when you're through the flyover...up they come again. I think this is because the car is switching to "night mode". Just discovered this mode myself thanks to another thread regarding what's new on the IS. You can have the car permanently in Day mode by turning the dimmer dial fully to the right till it "clicks".
  14. The dead pedal was $52.05 and the other two were $79 (£77.54 for all). I found them a little cheaper on the net in Fort Lauderdale, but the site looked a bit dodgy and the delivery wasn't so good. I like the Spiders: They are $248.75 each, both the front and wider rears (£588.76 for the set). Are these the same pedals that are in an IS350?
  15. Why does the manual not mention this, it mentions the Night Mode but not how to switch it on. I tried it out for the first time yesterday and it looks fantastic. It might be worth knowing for new owners of the MM as when I got mine I actually found the screen at night too bright but have now got used to it.
  16. My lights are permanently on Auto and I never think about them. The only problem is when you get into a car that doesn't have auto lights and you forget to turn them on.
  17. Tango, I too, like you, wanted the Sport but also wanted an automatic so I settled for the SE-L, which I don't regret, but I like your idea of converting it to a Sport. Are you going as far as having the car lowered too? I would be interested in what you paid for the pedals. Might see if I can persuade a friend to procure some for me. Are they easy to fit? I think the OEM 18"s look the business but the cost is quite high. I was given the option of ordering my SE-L with 18" but declined. Which I'd thought twice about that now...
  18. Barry the car is fantastic and you will love it. I have the same car and it gives me a huge grin everytime I get in it. To complete the package I would go for the MM option too.
  19. If the Lexus system was just pure Sat Nav then it would be very hard to justify the increased cost when you could buy a Tom Tom or similar for much less. But you are paying for a MultiMedia System. That means a DVD changer and the ability to watch DVDs (and yes I do use this feature!), a fantasic Sat Nav system, an amazing stereo, Voice activation, Reversing Camera, bluetooth connection for phone. And I think that this is great value for money. Like Parthiban I too am a big fan of integration - a much more elegant solution. You're right in what your saying, of course, but look at it from my point of view: DVD Player - watch movies stationary in my car? Why? I have friends. Sat Nav - yes it is very good but I often lend my Garmin to my wife to help her find places on her travels. It's never failed to bring her back yet. Whether this is a plus or a minus is debatable I grant you. Amazing stereo - the existing 13 speaker is fine for me thanks. Voice activation - my phone has this anyway. Reversing camera - I know how to park. (Famous last words I know). LOL!!!!!!!!!! OK we can agree to disagree and like you say it is a personal thing. But just to add, I have friends too and I wouldn't dream of just going out to the car to watch a DVD but my job takes me all over the place and there are times when I find myself arriving early at a venue and I just pop on a DVD for 20-30 mins. The voice activation controls the stereo, phone, climate control, navigation... The camera is an aid, nothing like having a pair of eyes in the back of your head. Plus who cares whether you can park, the thing looks damn cool!

  21. Yea. I was thinking about the OEM unit if they are readily available. Partially because I think it finishes off the dash well. There are a couple of threads on this previously. From memory I think, it can be done but it very tricky, opinion was it would be easier to buy a car with it fitted.
  22. I still have mine on the stereo, funnily enough I did think of taking it off yesterday. On my IS200 I kept it on until the week before I sold the car (and I had the car for nearly three years!)
  23. After, owning my first Lexus for a week I just got in the habit of "Double" locking the door on exit. It is usually only me in the car and I've never locked anyone in the car. Well I've done it once or twice but only for a joke! :D With the new car it is second nature. I don't find it a problem at all.
  24. The BMW Nav has an American woman giving the directions... I agree with Jamboo the system is one of the best there is, and it knows most towns although she can't say Wednesbury, she says Wednesday!!! :D
  25. I was slightly disappointed with the Post Code search because you can only enter the first five digits of a postcode. My other half has a Discovery and the Sat Nav has a full postcode search and works very well. I am quite surprised the Lexus one doesn't because I have been led to believe both systems are made by the same company.
