  1. Parthiban, you've hit the nail on the head - when talking about my car people either think I have a trust fund (which I don't) or that I play golf (which I don't)!! I think the line up will improve and expand, I am hearing much about the Supercar, the rumoured IS coupe convertible and an A3 challenger too. As a car manufacturer they have achieved so much in such a short space to time, but give it time and these issues will disappear.
  2. Nokia 6230 auto connects every time no problem. Can only transfer one contact at a time, got bored after about 10 names!
  3. Hmm typical Clarkson! I actually think that reading between the lines this is a very positive review: no wind noise, no engine noise, reliable, excellent stereo, better looking that BMW, Merc C, Audi and Jag and he even liked the six-acre wing mirrors! Although I don't understand why he thinks the Sat Nav was "preposterously complicated", it might be because the system does more than just sat nav (i.e. stereo, climate, phone, camera, maintenance schedule etc). He is right about me as a Lexus driver: I am a man and I'm not that interested in the car's power. Don't get me wrong it is fast enough for my needs but that is not the number one reason why I bought the car.
  4. Glad to hear you are finally sorted. Good colour choice :winky:
  5. Jamboo, nice one! Glad to hear that you are happy with the car, and that Leicester have done you proud!
  6. I had four services out five done with Sheffield on my last IS. I found the service there top notch. Even though I live in Leicester it still worked out cheaper to go there. Now I have a service plan so will just go whereever is most convenient, probably Leicester again.
  7. If anyone is looking for a diesel with MM, Leicester have a few in the actual showroom (SE and SE-l), including a glorious Mesa Red Sport diesel...with MM! Beige Escaine interior...really looks the bizz! Hey Jamboo I was in Lexus Leicester yesterday and saw the Mesa Red car and it did indeed look fantastic. I was also told that cars were being supplied to satisfy American demand as that is the biggest market for Lexus and as a result cars destined for the UK were taking longer to get here.
  8. Martin, is the Tom Tom an integrated satellite navigation system, with the worlds fastest route calculation and traffic guidance; does it have a reversing camera, does it have a dvd player, or bluetooth phone connection (OK some of them do this now), does it allow voice activation of the cars function and does it include a superior stereo? I think not, which is why it is 22% of the price of the Lexus system. If you are going to compare the price of the Tom Tom with the price of the MM make sure you are comparing the same features. Sorry that this is but it drives me mad when people say £2700 for Sat Nav is expensive when I can buy a little unit that does the same from Halfords for £140.
  9. I have the Nokia 6230 and it pairs up everytime I get in the car. Doesn't show signal strength or battery life but this is a small issue. The big problem is that it doesn't transfer the phone book but I have transferred the main numbers that I need.
  10. The computer says my average is between 31 and 32 but I do most (at least 90%) on the motorway. I have an auto SE-L.
  11. I make a clear distinction between parking in a parent and child space and parking in a disabled space and I would never, ever park in a disabled parking space.
  12. But some vehicles have huge and long doors that the edge of their doors just touch the body of your car when they swing open. This way you will get a long deep scrape instead of dent. It happened to a friend of mine who parked in the Parent and Child spots :D Thats all you deserve if you park in parent spaces without having kids - w :tsktsk: r !! I don't see why I should lose out because I am reproductively challenged and being called a "w :tsktsk: r" is a small price to pay, and if it means in three years time I have ding free car, bring on the insults.
  13. The door open sign should be lit on the dashboard but I know what you mean there seems to be a slight disconnect there. I would have thought the car would warn you.
  14. The Parent and Child spots are really nice and wide. But some vehicles have huge and long doors that the edge of their doors just touch the body of your car when they swing open. This way you will get a long deep scrape instead of dent. It happened to a friend of mine who parked in the Parent and Child spots :D Is nowhere safe for my Lexi? Think I might have to resort to keeping her in the garage like Jamboo.
  15. I know how you feel Jamboo, I am very careful about where I park the car but not to the extent of where it will stop me driving it. I am the master of the car not the other way round! As for the supermarkets thank *** for the Parent and Child spots. Not that I'm a parent or a child :winky: but the spots are always nice and wide. If they are full then I tend to double park - I know it's bad and selfish and wrong but I need to protect my baby!
  16. Dude you should be glad that it doesn't need replacing, the car wouldn't be exactly the same once it's done even with Lexus glass.
  17. Interestingly mine and Jamboo's car came from the same dealer and my mileage was 6! The last car also from Leicester had 13, which I wasn't very happy about. I think anything less than 10 is acceptable.
  18. As Jamboo says there is a lot of bias on this site! However I believe the car is a great car and I also would expect a few niggles with a brand new model, hopefully most dealers and LGB will address these.
  19. Did you get a good price because you were buying two? :winky: To avoid all this hassle, I use confused.com and let it do the work. Cheapest quote was £310 (Swiftcover) partner is on the policy and business mileage is included. To be fair I have full no claims, the car is garaged and I live in the middle of nowhere (nearest neighbour is over a mile away)!
  20. Thanks Tel. I have considered Coventry but dismissed them as I thought they were expensive, however I now have a prepaid Serivce Plan so think I will give them a try next time. My mate goes there all the time and really likes them.
  21. No rattles or squeeks, a little wind noise but nothing major as I usually have the stereo on loud. :winky: Incidently I bought my car from the same dealer as Jamboo and my experience was less than perfect (although not as bad as Jamboo), so I won't use them again, not even for servicing. Having said that can anyone recommend a good Midlands dealer for servicing?
  22. Had the car since Dec 05, done just over 5000 miles, and I love! Love!! LOVE!!! it. It gets admiring glances all the time and I have even been stopped in car parks while people ask me about it. No problems yet, touch wood, except for a cracked windscreen which was replaced by my insurance, but I can hardly blame Lexus for that! Even now I am still discovering new bits in it, which is what happens when you don't read the manual! Re: Whoosh, I don't think the Sat Nav should cut the radio, my last Sat nav system (aftermarket system fitted to my IS200) did this and it used to drive me mad when listening to the radio. Now for the niggles: I wish the wing mirrors would auto-close. I wish the headlights had the "follow-me home" function. I wish the parking break was electronic. A little wind noise but I usually have the radio on LOUD so it's not too big a problem. I will mention it at the first service. Why does the clock not look better! And that airbag light, if it has to be on all the time why does it not look nicer? These, however, are only minor quibbles. The dealer experience could have been better but I have the car and I just won't use them again or recommend them. And that's it! The car really has exceed my expectations.
  23. I find the mirror vibrates too, but only when I am playing music with very heavy bass, which is usually most of the time! B)
  24. On the US Lexus site there are a number of new IS videos and they too refer to it as standing for "Intelligent Sport". I think it has been mentioned elsewhere on here.
