  1. Jamboo, I went to the one at Kilworth House too, very nice setting and some tasty food too! Having been there and driven the RX350 (OK), GS450h (Amazing), SC430 (Awesome) I can confirm that there is no hard sell whatsoever. At Kilworth House you picked the car or cars you wanted to drive and they just put you on a list. You could then have a drink or something to eat till you car was ready. In my case I didn't have to wait at all for any cars other than the SC430 but it was a very sunny day and the car was in demand. When you car is ready someone took you out to it and if need be they would talk you through the route you take and give a brief overview of the car you are about to drive. In the case of the hybrid (GS450h) the guy really explained the system in depth, and answered all our questions. While we were waiting for the SC430 one of they sales guys from Leicester who I have spoken to in the past confirmed that Lexus are bringing out a convertible AND a coupe of the IS. Though from past experience from other car dealers I normally do a "I'll believe it when I see it" as I have heard so many different rumors about the convertible IS.
  2. Hey Jamboo I was at the same event, but didn't get there till after 3.30. Got to drive the SC430 but kept pulling over and putting the roof up and down, what a great piece of engineering. I think with the subtle changes they have made to the '06 model the car looks even better. Really lucky that it was such a good day, driving around with the top down we were getting plenty of admiring looks. I really would love to own one of these beauties, maybe one day...
  3. I thought 32mpg around "A" roads and country lanes was extremely good for a 2.5 V6 car. I averaged close to 40mpg on a 400 mile round trip a couple of months ago. Agreed most of it was motorway but I still think it's very good for a non diesel engine of this size. Must be my right foot then 'cos my SE-L auto has never returned more than 30 mpg. I too have the SE-L auto and on motorway runs I get over 35 mpg. Don't think I have hit over 40 but I do have the air con on all the time and plus I do like to push her from time to time when I get a clear run :D . I sure with a little right foot patience I could hit 40.
  4. 35. At 23 I was driving nothing cos I was a student and couldn't afford to buy or run a car. Didn't buy my first car till I was 26 and it was a diesel Corsa (practical and economical my Dad said!) although I had a couple of cars handed down to me before that. It is funny you never forget the first car you bought do you? Didn't join the Lexus army till I was 32. I'm currently on my second one.
  5. What's up with the paintwork ? Some :tsktsk: keyed four panels on my car and the whole side of the car needs a respray. :o Anyway the car has now done over 9000 miles so hopefully I can get it serviced, resprayed and have the seatbelt all done at the same time. At least it only means going in once rather than on three separate occasions which would be a real pain in the @ss.
  6. I got mine by recorded delivery. The letter says it will take two hours to do the work but doesn't mention anything about the Sat Nav, even though I have the MM option. Does anyone know what the problem with the Sat Nav is and why it needs updating? I will get mine done at the same time I get the paintwork sorted. In the meantime I will extend the seatbelt very slowly when using! Just out of interest the seatbelt has only ever locked up on me once so I am glad to get it sorted. There was no mention of an iPod in my letter We Brits get the :tsktsk: end of the stick every time!
  7. I got mine this morning as well even though I had already been told that mine wasn’t included. Could be because they are also upgrading the Sat Nav Disk at the same time. Why would they need to upgrade it? Is there a problem with it?
  8. Yep got mine this morning too, but no mention of an iPod!
  9. Sorry to hear about your car. When you see things like this you really start to lose your faith in humankind... I hope whoever did this gets what they deserve...
  10. Derek, it seems like my rainy day is turning into a tropical rainstorm. Got a quote from two dealers one was just under a grand and the other just over! Well I've decided to put the whole thing through my insurance and will organise the work through the dealer. Did consider Jamboos option and a few others but in the end I just want it looking like new and need it done with as little hassle as possible. Plus the option of a courtesy car etc. Totally p :tsktsk: d off! If I ever get hold of the c :tsktsk: t that did this, I think I would be getting medieval on their *****
  11. Rich Bee, sorry to hear about your ding. Can't comment on Chips Away etc but my dealer has done work on a friends bumper after he scraped it backing into a wall and it looks superb (but cost £200). Not sure what is happening with world at the moment but everyone and their car seems to be attracted to the IS and not in a good way!
  12. Guys, thanks for the amazing response and words of comfort. I have finally managed to calm down but Saturday and Sunday I was MAD! Anyway in the cold light of day things could be a lot worse, they could have smashed windows, nicked my iPod, slashed my tires. But as my partner said that is not the point. I will take the car to Leicester tonight and get them to have a look at it and give me a quote. I would hate to take it elsewhere and then find that I have invalidated the warranty. They did some respray work on my last car and I couldn't tell the difference. I will also take it to Jamboos recommendation just to get a comparison and might even be able to bring the price down for Leicester. I don't think I will go down the insurance route as I don't have protected no claims and I am fortunate that I have a "little put away" for a rainy day and I think this is such a day! Unfortunately the car was just parked in a street and there were no witnesses or CCTV around so whoever did it will get away scot free. But I firmly believe in what goes around comes around and I am sure they will get theirs in the future. I am still trying to understand what kind of enjoyment someone would get for doing that! Anyway you guys are the best: (but obviously in a sexually non-threating manner! LOL!) Thanks a million for your help and advice.
  13. I went to Birmingham today and when I got back to my car I see that some f :tsktsk: keyed my car! Four panels on the passenger side are affected. Why would someone do that? I am so angry that someone would do that to a car. It has never happened to me before and I am fuming as I type this. Anyone got any ideas about cost to respray? Or the best course of action. The marks don't seem that deep but what do I know, I'm not a bodyshop expert.
  14. I didn't think that the Sat Nav in the GS was the same as the one in the IS. The IS has the latest generation with upgraded screen and maps and DVD player with MP3 and WMA capability.
  15. I tried it a few times and it does make a difference but the fuel economy just went into freefall :o
  16. TBH I've never used it but might just give it a go on the way to work...
