  1. Been a lurker on here for quite some time & the forums have been an extremely valuable source of information

Having endured endless problems with my IS250 (chiefly the infamous rattle problems well documented & extensively discussed on here) I have finally had enough and have decided to move on.....

    ...to another Lexus !

My faith in Lexus has been restored primarily by AJ, salesman at Lexus Edgware Road who has been in a word, fantastic & I would highly recommend him to anybody (no I am not related to him & no I have not been paid to say that !)

I have to also mention Phil from the servicing department at Lexus Edgware Road who is also a top bloke & was very sympathetic vis-a-vis my IS250 problems & did all he could to try and rectify them.

The sad part is, I believe myself and indeed a few early adopters on here have been sold 'lemons' which really nothing can be done about -- in my personal view if rattles are inherent in the car from day one, no amount of fixing will be able to permanently rectify the problem -- anyway lesson learnt & strangely enough, despite all the problems, I actually started to develop a very strange affinity for my IS250 and I actually was quite sad to see it go !

So what have I moved onto specifically I hear you ask ?

A Mesa Red RX400h, due to arrive some time in July.

I cannot wait & hopefully this second chapter with Lexus will be a far more rewarding and enjoyable experience

    Cheers

awsome car. Best of luck with it :excl:

  2. I have Just Purchased a IS220d on a 55 plate with 18k miles SE with MM pack, sunroof cruise control full leather 17" wheels

Caxton slate i paid 17900 and got £3k for IS200 sport on a x reg with 149k miles

should i stop the sale as i have only paid the deposit (after reading the comments on the 220

i Loved the test drive, and i should get a better return than my IS200 on Fuel I hope

    or am i wrong

    Matt

Well did you like the car or not after driving it?

Of course you should get better fueleconomy, but perhaps not that much better that you hoped for?

Best of luck with your new car :)

  3. there really isnt a requirement for internal lights like these in the UK....a decent set of HID and bumper mounted driving lights is all that is needed

Ok perhaps you´re right. But I believe theese are instead of bumper mounted driving lights (no risk of theft, not getting dirty/greasy, not changing the arodynamics of the car, better light vision as they are mounted high etc.)

  4. I drive my relatively new Lex some 300km to work every Monday morning and back home Thursday afternoon. I have been searching for a pair of good auxiliary lights for some time and then I stumbled over theese;

    Rayzer - Visualeyes

    Anyone tried/seen this IRL before?

The company is in fact in the town where I work so I will visit them later this afternoon or next week for a closer personal inspection.

Here is a short film demonstrating it; Film

    Interesting don´t you think?

  5. Now for the question. They are still trying to find another car me, & my inclination is to possibly to go for a 250 auto. The more I drive them the more I find that I prefer them to the diesel, and it does seem to be a fairly general opinion in the forum. The question I have is one of economics, as I don't do a lot of mileage, about 9k per year, a high proportion of which is short/town driving. There aren't many motorways round here, & not much dual carriageway either.

With a 250 am I likely to get better consumption than I did with my old Volvo S60, (the official consumption figures are more or less the same), which averaged 30mpg overall, and could more or less stretch to 35mpg on a good long rung, using motorways etc?

Thanks for your patience & tenacity for sticking with me to the end & I would appreciate your views.

(Not "silly prat" – I've already looked in the mirror & said that! ).

    Boothby Coggles

What the others say - the 250 will be perfect for you.

    Best of Luck

  6. Got my 5th injector changed today due to the recall. First trip, about 90 miles A and B roads, returned 50.4 MPG. Not a big change from what I'm used to, but maybe a bit better than usual. At least it didn't get worse!

A recall? By Lexus in Finland? Wonder if I get a recall too in Sweden?

50.4 MPG!? :whistling: That must be around 0.6something litres/10km? I think I´m doing around 0.75 on motorway atm. (0.85 in town)

I will visit my Lexus dealer Friday when I´m home for sure.

  7. This is my 1st post here, Hi to all.

I would pick the Lex 10 times out of 10. I have had mine now for about a month - I work some 300 km´s from home and I drive it to work every Monday morning and back home Thursday afternoon. I needed to change to a diesel due to the fueleconomy and I really tested a lot of diesel cars before buying this one (IS 220 Sport).

What really surprised me was that I tried this car some 5-6 months earlier when it was almost brand new and back then I did not like it at all. (Engine, clutch, and gearbox). But I tried it again when it had some 12000 km mileage and it was a completely different experience/car. No problems at all - gearbox is all fine, it runs very quiet and the car is very comfortable (very important for me). I must say I don´t understad the problem with the 6th gear as described in this forum - perhaps Lexus have changed it by now as I experience no problem at all? I´m riding smothly on the highway on 6th gear in less then 60 mph if I want to.

Perhaps this kind of car need some mileage to perform at it´s best? I´ve heard a few in a Swedish autobobile-forum saying the same thing.

I have driven the Volvo before (I´m Swedish) so I know the difference. If space is not an issue for you Lexus should be your pick.

Good luck in whatever you decide.
