  1. I have, however, found a snapped spring on the valve (see photo) which i think is probably effecting it. I've spoken to Sean (Shaun?) at TDI (who did the conversion) and he was most helpful in sending me a new spring.

    Quick update:

These problems were sorted out a long time ago, however...the promised spring from TDi has not shown up yet...

  2. Which parts would you like to polish mate?? so i can see what to suggest? First thing you could do with getting is a tube or 2 of AUTOSOL metal polish as thats a must before you start and does a great job :D

Do you want your charger polishing and all the pipe work? as the pipe work is quite easy but the charger will take a bit of time due to the shape and bits you have to get into but not a massive job :D well not for me anyway :P :P

oooh, id love my pipework polished! The charger too would be amazing, I need more engine bay bling!

Other more pressing issues at the mo mind, like getting the wreck roadworthy again!

  3. Not that I know of, several members have had TEIN coilovers on their car, some including the EDFC

so they can be controlled from within the car.

The Tein are very good, and though not cheap, the best route to go down to lower your IS.

The EDFC is not needed, but is lovely little toy. But changing the damper setting while driving not very often needed! Though great for occasional track use etc. Personally, and I'm sure others would agree, I'd rather spend the money on some uprated ARBs (Anti Roll Bars) as this will improve the handling no end, and can be easily fitted at the same time.

  4. I have have had A041s on my Celica and they were pretty good, dry and wet. Have also run Para II Yokos on the Lexus and was impressed, thou wear quite quickly, but thats the trade off with softer grippier rubber!

Though both the F1s and Toys are quality tyres too.

I'd say ya cant go far wrong with any of those 4!

  5. Silly question, but did you try the LED's both ways? as they only work one way.

    Stav

A silly question... that was absolutely spot on!

Swapped directions and bang... I have sidelights.

Now as to why the original bulbs where not working... I'll never know.

    Legendary mate... thankee! :D

Original bulbs must have had bad connection or just blown. I was gonna suggest that too, it's caught me out once. U'll only let it catch you out once thou!

It's gone rather :offtopic: since the problems solved it doesn't really matter...

I call transport minister. (Zero VED and no speed limits for Lexus drivers anyone?)

  6. Just 1 thing tho wont the fuses be the same for the headlights as a whole rather than seperate for Side/Dipped/Main?

    Short answer: NO.

If you think about it, (which I have just for the first time) if your full beam fuse blew on your way home at night, you would be thankful your dipped beam was not on the same fuse!

    :winky:

  7. You need to declare ANY aftermarket change to the vehicle. If you have a modified vehicle (even small things!) you need to pick your insurer very carefully, some insurers will not cover any modifications..

    Ollie

    Sky Insurance

This guy works in Car Insurance so I would be inclined to listen to his advice!

I have always understood it that technically you must declare EVERY single little detail of the vehicle that is not the exact spec it rolled out the factory with, de-badging, stickers and all! Otherwise they could, in theory, deny any claim. This is the theory. In reality, the odd induction kit here and window tint there may be allowable, but the COULD potentially pull you up on it, and nobody will really care about stickers!

Personally, I declare major power and performance mods only.

on aido's old lexus i never declared any of the mods, it was lowered on 18's full kit twin exhausts the lot, when it was totalled the insurance company didn't even bat an eyelid and i got 100% of what i payed for the car without question.

You done well son! Lucky there, I'd say.

  8. Mate, that is nasty. Nothing good is happening at the moment! I'm just waiting right now for the next thing to go wrong in my life!

People like that deserve.....I wont waste my time cos it would all come out as ********s.

Feel for ya man. At least it was insured I suppose, so no financial kick in the balls at this hard time.

  9. BUT AS USUAL THEY WILL SAY WE DONT MAKE OUR MONEY FROM SELLING PETROL .

IT MUST BE THE LEMONADE STALL THEY RUN THEN

To be honest Matt, most Petrol Stations make very small margins on the fuel they sell, and more from the chocolate bars, cigarettes and yes, in part, lemonade! Though I'm talking here on a forecourt level, and many station are not even owned by the oil companies!

If UK companies are making money then it cant that bad a thing. If they were not, it would only be foreign companies picking up the difference.

On the whole, I agree with Mike_B. It's the government that is most at fault here, combined with the media scaring the public.

  10. I have done my entire interior in blue LEDs.

It looks great, especially when I unlock and they go on at night.

Only problem is....not really enough light emmited to make it a decent map light, so will probably change my front interior light for a super bright white one as ive seen on here somewhere. Once I replace the front end of the car that is!

  11. I do have one but will prob want it at some point so not really available, sorry.

The induction is amazing, but not everyone is a fan.

I, like Stav, LOVE IT! You will too.

  12. Yeah I know, fully my own fault and I realise that - Nobody to blame but myself

I was VERY VERY lucky to be honest, could of been ALOT worse - thankfully it was 2am and nobody was around

Ure a silly silly fool. So am I - linky.

Hope ya get it sorted out, could have been so much worse, just try to remember that!

    a student with 2 cars,i obviously work to hard working 14hr days 6 days a week :o

    Yeh right, same here.

Though in fairness Aaron, how hard either of us working when we're on the LOC all day?
