  1. The ventilation is quite effective - my wife thought she'd wet herself when I put it on for the first time.
  2. There will be some pointers here. Mine was a 2007. I can't remember when the facelift happened but most of this issues will be covered in this post. Any 2009+ owners will no doubt be along soon.
  3. ...assuming you have perforated seats already. I just checked and rather unsurprisingly, Lexus weren't kind enough to fit my non-perforated seats with a fan.
  4. Hey nonny nonny!
  5. It's great isn't it!
  6. This is a delightful antidote to those road rage/dash cam idiot videos on YouTube:
  7. Scotty, the shy and reserved car expert on YouTube has done a video about the Corolla's E-CVT:
  8. There is just so much goodness going on here. A female backing group with June Miles-Kingston drumming and giving perfect harmonies, Caroline Lavelle on the cello looking rather demure astonishing, and Terry Hall showing Robert Smith how to be grumpy.
  9. Talking of going as fast backwards, this is awesome!
  10. I must admit that I didn't bother too much with the paddles in my IS250 either. I might have used them more if there had been a blip on the downchange like the Alfa 1somethingorother had. The gear lever having the upshift and downshift the wrong way round was a disappointment too. A good point about hills @Jayw13702 but living in the Fens, the closest I get to hills are on and off ramps to dual carriageways/motorways and multi storey car parks, which I avoid now due to their appetite for alloy wheel rims.
  11. You know, that has been bothering me. I too was thinking of belts (and the possible urban myth that the DAF with CVT went just as fast backwards as it did forwards...). I've done a bit of investigation which I probably should have done first and found this https://blog.lexus.co.uk/perfect-partners-e-cvt-and-hybrid/ which explained the IS CVT a little more clearly to me and answered @ganzoom's point about planetary gears. Every day is a school day!
  12. Mine appears to have CVT:
  13. I used mine for the first time a couple of weeks ago. I soon realised that it was pretty much pointless and won't be bothering again.
  14. Ah yes. Does anyone remember the sensitive cover of it which this lot did?
  15. What a difference a day makes eh...? 😉
  16. Absolutely. I'd like to know why! I'm also interested to know why I pay £140/year when my neighbour's 6 year old 3 Series diesel costs £20/year (which he has overlooked paying - oops...). Same amount of nasties come out of the exhaust for each car apparently.
  17. Careful! https://www.parkers.co.uk/lexus/is/saloon-2013/car-tax/ I thought I was on for peanuts road tax and then had a bit of a shock. Mine's £140/year
  18. I studied in Central London and had the same experiences - doing the Pavement Tango with Sir Trevor McDonald, pressed up against Alice Beer (who was very small and probably still is) on a crowded Tube Train, sitting on the tube opposite PC Carver from The Bill, watching DLT being heckled by passers by on his way to the BBC, passing by both Armstrongs (ITN newsreaders) on New Cavendish Street, having to run out of the way of Mark Knopfler has he drove along Regent Street, seeing Derek Jameson and his Mrs doing a piece for camera outside the Beeb, spying Mike Read ("Mike Read, Mike Read, 275, 285 National Radio One...", not the "Riiiicky" one) driving into what is now Wogan House, watching Leticia Dean getting dropped off at her flat and then being admonished by the taxi driver as he passed for "ogling Sharon" (we weren't!) and bumping into Samantha Fox outside Tower Records on Piccadilly Circus. She was small too. Who else? Enoch Powell, The Queen Mum (in a cavalcade), I could go on, but had better not!
  19. That is, fantastic!
  20. Interesting! I was going to get a wireless charger to go on my phone holder. It could also explain why I didn't get a reply from the holder's manufacturer when I sent them my brilliant idea of including a Qi charger in their product. That has saved me a few quid. I think I'll stick with the charging lead. Incidentally, in my IS250, I once had a sweaty moment when the car wouldn't start. I thought about what I'd done prior to pressing the Start button and unplugged my phone from the USB charger in the cigarette lighter thing. Button pressed again and broom, off she went.
