  1. I use an app called "Know Your Car" for such reminders and checking that the stepchildren are still legal. It's a shame it can't link to AskMID itself but it's no great hassle to go there separately.
  2. Yes my IS250's camera did exactly the same thing. I just learned to live with it I'm afraid and didn't look into fixing it. This is probably a contender for the most useless post of the day...
  3. Ah you mean this:
  4. There are USB and lighter sockets in the storage area in the centre console. I'm not sure what you mean about the space under the nav knob. Either cup holder in mine will take a standard Samsung S20 sized phone.
  5. Returning from a trip to Sainsburys (wearing a mask, of course), I pulled up at a set of lights over one of the many parkways in this fine city of Peterborough. A black A6 swept up in the left lane, timing the light change just right. He/she then went round to the next set of lights which I was heading to, which were at red. I was in the right hand lane, they were in the left. As the road goes down to the parkway, the two lanes merge into one - the right lane (mine) becoming the main lane. I'd noticed it was a 3.0 TD A6 and I had a thought. "Hmm. what does this Sport Mode do?" I wondered to myself as I turned the knob to the right. The dash did its fab changey thing, the lights changed and I booted it. I have to say that I did have to hang on as the car was doing 50 by the time I had to make the turn onto the slip road. I looked in the mirror and the A6 was fairly close behind, clearly irate at having been humiliated at the lights. I made it past the part where the lanes joined and looked down at the speedo - 82 and rising! On joining the parkway, the A6 began to claw its way back, but remembering that I've not long done a speed awareness course, I eased off and took the next exit to avoid letting the side down. Vorsprung durch, 'ave that matey!
  6. The ride in my IS300h F Sport is quite hard - over some of the local roads which have been dug up repeatedly by the council and utilities, it does bang a lot. I've not driven a 300h on 17" wheels but I would imagine that they give a floatier ride like my IS250 did. I am an old fart though (52) and as I get older, being able to hurl a car round a corner is still satisfying, but not something which I feel compelled to do on a regular basis. If I were you, I'd drive the F Sport then one of the other models to see which ride you prefer. You'll notice a difference in mpg coming from an IS300, that's for sure!
  7. Oh I see! 😅
  8. +1 on the colour - it looks fab.
  9. As my granddaughter would say "you snooze, you lose" :-)
  10. I'll give that a go - I read a review of the Amazon Auto Alexa thing (admittedly it was an American review) and it didn't come out well.
  11. Good point! I've not used voice control on the phone for some reason. I may have a trip to Cambridge planned today so I'll give it a go. If Google can control Spotify then sorry Alexa...
  12. I see where you're coming from Rich - I don't know if I need one. Calling out "Alexa - next!" or "Alexa, play Gilbert O'Sullivan from my playlist" (I didn't let that slip out, did I?) might be easier than using the "mouse" whilst making progress to change tracks perhaps? Each Christmas at work we're given a choice of companies to receive a £30 pound voucher from. I always choose Amazon and for various reasons my vouchers from last year are still approximately 163 miles away from me. I have asked for them to be couriered here this week as I feel I need to take one for my fellow Lexus owning chums. Yes, I'll stump up an extra £20 and buy one of these Devil's Devices and let you know how I get on. Someone has to discover how life with an on-board Alexa is, and dammit - it might as well be me!
  13. I'm just trying to work out if this is going to solve/help all the infotainment woes (no Apple Car Play/Android whateveritis) which us Lexus types have? https://www.amazon.co.uk/echo-auto-add-alexa-to-your-car/dp/B078YP59TT/ref=sr_1_3?dchild=1&keywords=alexa+car&qid=1592405337&sr=8-3
  14. I'm a little underwhelmed too. Give me better phone integration, a more up to date infotainment system, the ability to change indicator flashes via a menu option and not some weird combination of wiper flicks, and a GPS controlled clock, and I'd be consider one if they ever make it over here. It doesn't look that different from the 3IS to the Average Joe.
  15. OK I'll say it. A Lexus with a BMW engine does not give me a warm fuzzy feeling.
  16. Bit of T-Cut and it will be fine. (Thought I'd say it before anyone else did...)
  17. The IS200 was a rebadged Toyota Altezza.
  18. It's group 30 apparently. I pay £280 for my F Sport with Swintons (full ncb, 52 years old, 8,000 miles pa, wife included but she doesn't need to know)
  19. If I may be permitted to hijack this thread, you have reminded me of this gem. If it's what I hope it is, there's a section where a chap and his wife cry because their Cavalier SRi ("i" for "important") is taken away, and they are given a Maestro diesel. There are also some howlers about coat hangers, middle lane driving and badge snobbery. Wind it back to the beginning - my attempts to paste a link where it starts from the beginning failed miserably.
  20. Seconded. I wasn't sure that at 40 I was ready for an auto. I test drove the IS250 SE-L Auto and bought it. I haven't looked back.
  21. Can anyone beat 53.9mpg on the display? (the "pictures or it didn't happen" rule will have to be invoked from now) EDIT: my trip was myself and the wife, and air con on all the way, so you got better economy than me with an extra body in the car Jason!
  22. I had my first proper outing in the 300h today - to RNOH Stanmore and back. Previous journeys had been limited to bringing her home from Leicester, a couple of trips to Stamford and Huntingdon and plenty of trips to the local supermarkets. I was keen to see what mpg I'd get on a long run (154 miles) so brimmed it before and after: Excel says it is actually 51.29mpg but I can live with that. I didn't drive too quickly - once it got to 49mpg I decided to engage "Granny Driving Mode" and see how high I could get it. I cursed the hills on the A1 which kept knocking .1 off. Next time I will drive in a manner more befitting my age and see what the figure goes down to.
  23. Excitement Mode: Engaged!
  24. Driving around yesterday (it was an essential journey - I needed to check my eyesight) I realised that I really miss the V6 howl from my IS250 when I used to introduce the loud pedal to the floor mat. The IS300h noise just doesn't cut it unfortunately. I may have to resort to one of these:
