  1. Not so far. I can change the start up screen images, but no slideshows of jpgs.
  2. You've got me thinking now - I was convinced it was an Audi. I'm prepared to be corrected though!
  3. Many moons ago, Clarkson did a London to Glasgow/Edinburgh (can't remember which) in an Audi A8 on a full tank of fuel. My lasting memory is him saying that cruise control wasn't a patch on a human brain for getting good economy. Your good lady's experience would tend to confirm that. I've found the same thing too. With your foot you can anticipate hills, idiot drivers etc. Cruise control cannot, even when radar guided. Excuse me while i nip to Ladbrookes to put some money on someone coming along to contradict that :-)
  4. And I think that's the perfect statement to close this thread on. Nobody buys an IS300h thinking it's going to be an M3.
  5. I thought it was 8.3 seconds to 60. All that off the line timing and going around corners on rails stuff doesn't really bother me. If I want speed, I'll book a supercar experience at Thruxton and take something Italian for a spanking. I just want something which will get me from A to B without having to take a break on the hard shoulder waiting for the AA to arrive, something which is comfortable for myself and any passengers, and something which has the potential to last me many years without falling to bits or being a money pit. The IS300h ticks all those boxes perfectly.
  6. I wouldn't bother changing the display to be honest. The F Sport dial moving thing soon gets boring and becomes a bit old hat. I'm lying. It doesn't 😉
  7. I managed to connect mine to Lexus Leicester's guest wifi when I was waiting for a service recently. I didn't actually do anything with it - i was just bowled over that I'd done it whilst playing with the menus and then they came to collect the keys....
  8. I have tried my hardest, but I just can't get that elusive post-hybrid battery health check extra bar to come back. Immediately after health check: The best I can do now: It's like there's something missing from my life. I can't sleep, I can't concentrate on work. I've turned to drink (well, that's not strictly accurate as I was already pointing in that direction anyway) and today's music just doesn't sound like it did in the good old days. Damn you Lexus and your hybrid battery health checks giving me false hope of getting a fully lit up battery meter.... * * I hope you do all realise that I'm saying that with a pinch of salt :-)
  9. I like the idea - for the price, it's worth having a punt to see if it will work on my IS300h.
  10. That is an excellent idea - my wife's Ioniq could do with one of those too. A combined heater/wiper unit. I like the idea of that. I like it a lot!
  11. My IS200s and IS250 didn't have them - some kind person recently posted a photo of them on another thread and i had to have some, as I've lost so many chips over the years. Little did I know that my IS300h already has chip catchers - but it was too late, I'd already ordered a pair. They do look pretty cool though.
  12. I fitted my chip catchers! I really must dust the interior at the weekend.
  13. Ok I've scrapped the idea of designing a wiper device for the Lexus badge as I've found the front sensors. They're either side of the numberplate. I shall have to come up with another idea...
  14. You've just reminded me that my dad had a Chrysler Alpine with headlamp wipers - they were bristles, not like conventional wiper blades. I can't really remember how effective they were.
  15. Has anyone mentioned the tip from Martin "Money Saving Expert" Lewis about looking for a new quote 21 days before renewal? https://www.moneysavingexpert.com/news/2021/01/martin-lewis-car-insurance/
  16. When it has warmed up a bit, I'll go and have a look!
  17. You may have a point - I can't remember seeing any sensors on the front of the car and assumed that the big bad boy in the middle did the work. There's a sensor on each corner though:
  18. Yesterday I had to make a trip to the pharmacist to pick up some pills for Mrs Mincey. It was snowing so I thought I'd drive. There was no snow settling on the road or paths though - driving in the snow without winter tyres would be foolhardy. I parked outside the pharmacy and went in, observing the social distancing and mask wearing roles of course. When I came out, I started the car up and put it in drive. BEEEEEEEEEEEEEP! "What on Earth could that be?" I wondered. I checked the instrument panel - no flashing lights. BEEEEEEEEEEEEP! I then noticed that the Park Assist was going nuts (as an aside, I nearly drove into a wall recently because the sensors had been turned off when it was serviced. The car, not the wall). I've never seen the sensor showing red. "Hmm, that's queer" I thought. I then realised that there was probably snow or some other obstruction on the sensor. I switched the engine off, got out, cleared the badge of a few flakes of snow and got back in again. This time there was no BEEEEEEEEEEEEEP. Hurrah. I then drove to Sainsburys to get some essential items. When I came out, started the car and put it in D, can you guess what happened next? Yes, you're not wrong. So, my idea which needs crowd funding is... a device to clear snow from the front parking sensor. I haven't decided yet whether it will be a wiper, some kind of blower or a heating element. I could of course just remember to give it a wipe whenever it's snowing. Oh and it does stop going BEEEEEEEEEP at about 10mph (the speed limit in the Sainsburys car park - I wasn't going to get out and clean it again) and there appears to be a volume off icon on the Park Assist display, but by the time I'd noticed it, I was doing 10mph. Then I reached the traffic lights at the car park exit. BEEEEEEEEEEEEEP!.........
  19. Slightly off topic, but these two are in my office waiting for a moment to see whether they still work...
  20. +1. I came back to my IS250 in a car park (luckily a quiet one) with all the windows down after my backside had inadvertently triggered the key's "all windows down" function.
  21. I still can't get mine to show photos of a USB drive. It will play music and let me change the welcome screen graphic but will it do the slideshow? Will it heck as like. "But why do you want to do this Mincey?" I hear you all cry in unison. Well, the manual alludes* to the ability of the car to do it, and I need to show off to someone! * @royoftherovers - here's what I mean :-)
  22. You could well be right Malc. We, the viewers, are being deceived. I will pay close attention next week.
  23. Last night whilst watching Susan Calman pootle around Wales in her camper van Helen, I thought "I wonder what the MOT history of Helen is?". So I checked. The failure history is epic. It has failed almost every year. Some years it does no miles between MOTs and still fails! Clocking? I do hope that Ms Calman doesn't die in a horrific head-on with a tractor in the final episode. I am very worried about her brakes....
