  1. When my father told me he had gone the wrong way around a roundabout, I managed to convince him that it was time to surrender his keys, which luckily he did.
  2. No of course not John. You are of course right. I wish to retract my earlier, rather hastily-made post.
  3. I took my 81 year old mother for her second Covid jab this morning. It was clearly "Jab the Oldies" day today and had I worked for the DVLA or Police, I would have confiscated the licences of more than one of the drivers trying woefully to navigate the traffic and parking areas at the vaccination centre. My NCB flashed before my eyes on more than one occasion....
  4. I agree John. This could be very interesting.
  5. On a slightly related note, I asked the dealer if they could debadge my IS250 but was told that it would leave holes in the boot lid. Imagine my horror years later to discover that they had been economical with the truth with me and the IS250 boot lid was smooth.
  6. Wise words John!
  7. I get exactly this at work. People are too bloody lazy to work things out for themselves, and as the IT bloke, it's much easier to ring/Skype/Zoom/Teams me instead of looking it up. I realise that this is part of what I'm paid for, but I often wonder what they do at home. I guess you've just given the answer - they sign up to an internet forum and ask the question there, then post a thinly veiled rude answer when they don't get the result they expected.
  8. It's ok, I don't live there any more. This reminds me of an old Chubby Brown joke: I was having an argument in a pub with a bloke. I said to him "eee, that's fighting talk where I come from!". He said "why aren't you fighting then?", I said "I've moved". Anyone seen my coat?
  9. I now feel robbed. My IS300h F Sport didn't have special valve caps. In fact, it didn't have any, so more than likely some light fingered scroat nicked them at some point before I picked it up. I remember the first thing I bought for it were some boring black valve caps from Halfords for about £4 a set. My IS250 came with special (or they seemed as such) valve caps which lasted a week or so before some youths liberated them for their BMX bikes. Sometimes boring is best.
  10. You can see Roy's point though - give a man a fish and he eats for a day, give him a rod and teach him how to fish and he'll have the perfect excuse to get away from the wife.
  11. My boss is Dutch and that's his favourite phrase! If he didn't drive a Mercedes, I'd ask if you're him :-)
  12. On a Peterborough to Littlehampton run, I'd get my Gen 2 IS250 into the indicated mid 40s without too much hassle. I never checked how accurate the trip computer was though for fear of disappointment.
  13. That looks fab Julie! I love the wood interior :-)
  14. There's a guy who lives near me with a Gen 3 IS250 F Sport. We're on nodding terms when we drive by each other. I really should knock on is door and ask for a quick rev.
  15. Buying an IS250 marks you down as someone with exceptionally good taste. Feel free to pester everyone here as much as you like :-)
  16. I'm reminded of the blind for the rear window in my IS250. Absolutely sod all use other than for showing off to friends. Totally with you on the V6 roar. I still stand by my IS300h every evening and ask it why it can't make the same noise as my IS250 did.
  17. My IS300h came with the Comfort pack which includes mudflaps. It's an F Sport and I'm not sure I'm entirely comfortable with the idea of a "sporty" car (I added the " and " around "sporty" to appease certain posters in the IS300h section) having mudflaps. It's the first car I've had since 1995 which has had mudflaps.
  18. You may have surpassed yourself here.
  19. Here's something which may shock some of you. On neither of my IS200s, did I ever, even once, open the sunroof. No tilting or opening. I didn't even look at, let alone touch, the switch. Can't even remember where it was! What's the point of opening the sunroof - or - even opening the sunblind, which I never, ever did, when you have a fully functioning climate control system? Someone is bound to come up with an opposing view and I've just nipped down to my local Ladbrookes to put a bet on who I reckon it will be...
  20. Go to page 136 in the attached IS300H handbook and it's all there. OM53F36E.pdf
  21. That's easy for you to say :-)
  22. Superb! It's good to have an "urban myth" confirmed - many thanks LenT :-)
  23. I was told many years ago that a Daf 55 went backwards as fast as it went forwards. Having marketed them, can you confirm this either way please? This is also a very good excuse to repost my favourite video of some crazy Dutch guys racing Dafs backwards:
  24. Yes, you can go off people quickly can't you? :-)
  25. Can I just go on the record to say that I think that my IS300H is a rocket ship and the best car in its segment bar none.
