  1. I use the Know Your Car app to check that the step children are keeping their cars legal, and just because i can, I monitor my old cars. My old IS250 passed today. Well, second time. It failed first time for a dodgy headlamp and offside front tyre but it's still going strong at 136,000 miles. I bet it still sounds good.
  2. I couldn't see any catches either!
  3. https://www.lexus.co.uk/discover-lexus/lexus-news/ This sounds a cracking idea. I was debating extending the warranty on my IS when it expires next year but now there's (apparently) no need.
  4. I shall take a look!
  5. I'm sorry, but I couldn't help thinking of this. I'm 53. I really should grow up.
  6. Some buffoon has ruined a Gen 2 IS...
  7. Thanks @Spacewagon52and @Bounce75- I'll give both a go :-)
  8. Rats! I'd hoped you'd have a miracle cure. Never mind, back to the Weedol and brushing then :-)
  9. I can't decide which looks the best - your car or your immaculate driveway! How do you keep it so clean and free of weeds? I face a constant uphill battle trying to make mine look a tenth as respectable as yours!
  10. I've got one which works on two of my laptops and not another. I've also lost count of the flash drives I've had over the years which suddenly go "poof". Don't get me started on CD-Rs. I dug out some from the early 2000s yesterday and about 25% were unusable. It's lucky that I haven't had to refer to them in the past 20 years... .;-)
  11. I miss the sound of the V6 and the 17" wheels. I think that's about it. I've got used to not having dipping door mirrors and a rear sunshade. Having collision alerts, better lights, TPMS, DAB, Bluetooth audio, chip catchers, radar cruise control, speeding alerts, the F Sport speedo party trick and probably a few things I've forgotten about make up for that. Oh and 50+ mpg without having to drive like my nan.
  12. Oh don't - I'll get into terrible trouble!
  13. I was being mean - I apologise :-)
  14. Being a granddad is great. You get all the fun of having the little one(s) for a few hours then get to give them back. After ensuring they're full of fizzy substances guaranteed to keep them awake of course. However, as someone who has had to sit through Frozen (and the sequel) far, far more times than I care to mention, be warned. Not only is there that to endure, you'll get to re-learn all the nursery rhymes again and watch endless hours of Bing (I hate Bing. I really hate Bing). I took my 7 year old granddaughter out for the first time in my IS the other day (anyone under the age of 53 is banned from coming anywhere near it, so she was lucky). She was very impressed - thought that the F Sport speedo trick was out of this world and having album covers displayed on the screen was clever. Of course she agreed that the car was a rocket ship and the best car in its sector bar none. She's a clever girl.
  15. Do you still miss the Audi they lent you? :-)
  16. I'm going to be put into detention again by @royoftherovers, as I should have read the manual, but I've just read this on the Lexus site: "To enter manual mode when the transmission is in ‘D’ position, simply pull the ‘-’ paddle. The initial shift range (from D2 to D5) is displayed in the instrument cluster and is automatically set according to the vehicle speed. After the manual mode is activated, all steps from D1 to D6 become available, and can be selected by pulling the relevant paddle shift switch. However, the programme is designed to protect the engine from straying beyond the rev limits of each shift range. In such circumstances, the system will automatically select a gear that is more appropriate to the vehicle speed. To return the transmission to its automatic ‘D’ function, simply pull the ‘+’ paddle until the shift range number disappears from the instrument cluster." No need to put it in S then!
  17. I haven't got a "B" - am I missing out? :-)
  18. Every time I see a Gen 2 IS, I check to see whether it runs on petrol or the Devil's fuel. I'm surprised at how many 55-07 220d's are still going given the known issues.
  19. Oh I'm a confused and forgetful old Hector now - it has been a very long time since I did a journey where I needed CC. I should have said "pull the stalk towards you" and not "press the button" (I think...)
  20. Or from all the motorists driving past shaking their fists and shouting "B*****d!" at them perhaps?
  21. +1 on using it for roadworks, but don't be like those idiots in German cars who dab the brakes to release the CC. Press the button.
  22. I'm reminded of the sacking of the Scunthorpe Council's IT manager after he implemented a new swear filter on the email system which meant nobody received any emails for days.
