  1. Here we go. I'm sure I'll get a tug from the Rozzers about the numberplate screws but hey-ho.
  2. I can't comment on parking it yet, but it feels the same size to drive - it doesn't feel like getting into a bus. The boot is vast and even with the driver's seat set for a 5'11" pie-eating, cider loving hunk like me, there are taxi levels of legroom in the back. Mr Mincey did comment that I seemed further away from her when I took her for a spin, which can only be a good thing really. The IS is 1.81m wide whereas the ES is 1.86m wide, so there's not a lot in it really. Lengthwise the ES is 4.97m and the IS is 4.68m.
  3. The fuel pump will now be someone else's problem 🙂
  4. It's an F-Sport with Tech and Safety Pack in Azure Blue. My first blue car - previous cars have either been black or silver.
  5. Yes that's someone else's problem now 🙂 It's probably a bit excessive to buy another car instead of waiting but such is life.
  6. The deal has been done!
  7. I dread to think. I once bought a new bass guitar and she insisted on being given an engagement ring. This could be expensive, or hurt a lot, or both!
  8. I just took the current Mrs Mincey out for a spin. She was impressed. I have not broached the subject of potentially purchasing it yet.....
  9. Guess what? No fuel pumps arrived in the post at Leicester today, so that's two months of driving around on the bare minimum of petrol I've had to endure. It's now booked in for late October. When I pick it up later on today, I'm going to suggest that the pump is replaced when it has the annual service in January. That should give plenty of time for a pump to arrive. Or I could just buy the ES and let someone else worry about it....
  10. In case any of you were wondering, after putting £15 worth of fuel in, the remainder of my journey was done at slightly more than 48mph. I think I have enough left to have an entertaining return journey later.
  11. I am seriously impressed. If they make me a decent offer I'm having it. My only gripe would be that the indicators don't feel too solid but other than that, it's great. I did get wheelspin when I left the filling station to pull back onto the A47 but that's FWD on a damp road. I'm not sure I'd miss RWD to be honest. I loved the way the seats go back to allow easier entry and exit. It's the perfect thing for the "larger figure"... 😉
  12. Coming back from Leicester just now in my loaner ES. It had 30 miles of petrol in it. All the stations in Leicester appeared dry. It was almost Squeaky Bum Time when I approached the filling station at Morcott. There was one unleaded pump open. "I'll have some of that" I thought to myself. There were about 20 miles left until I got home. I've never let a car get that low.
  13. It's a 70 plate F Sport. Solid as a rock, more comfortable than my IS300h F Sport. Seems to have all the goodies. I'm finding out the cost of change when I pick my IS up later. Excitement level: Epic!
  14. Those asteroids - they just don't play fair do they? Sneaking up from behind the Sun. It's just not cricket...
  15. I received another email from British Gas yesterday telling me that my world would cave in unless I allowed them to fit a Smart Meter. I immediately deleted it.
  16. Two cars in and another Scheissewagen bites the dust!
  17. As an ex-cyclist myself, I really hate cyclists. Self-righteous bunch of expletives. Worse than vegans.
  18. Managed to get £25 worth just now - 10 litres in two cans, the rest in the car. Two local Shell stations were closed, Morrisons had some but the queues were bonkers, but a Jet station in a local village had a small queue which I felt compelled to join. I can now enjoy a spirited drive (as spirited as you can get in an IS300h obviously) to Leicester without worrying about being stranded. Woo, and indeed yay.
  19. I rang Lexus Leicester this morning to check whether my replacement fuel pump was in. I wasn't told that it wasn't, so I guess there's a chance of a call coming to cancel Friday's visit again. Whilst I had the young lady on the line, I asked what the situation was in Leicester. "Oh I can't tell you that - I'm not in Leicester". It then dawned on me that I had been put through to Inchcape Servicing Central and not the dealership. I'm going to nip out mid-afternoon to see if I can get 10 litres and then risk it.
  20. I had an umbrella from Lexus Cambridge, but nothing from Marshall Cambridge, apart from severe pains in the arse. Lexus Leicester gave me a keyring.
  21. Unfortunately not! Many years ago when I had a Nokia 6310i, an mp3 player, a sat nav and a digital camera, I thought to myself "wouldn't it be a good idea if all of these were combined together into one handy hand-held device". I should have patented the idea.
  22. A truly odious little man. If more people knew that he once burgled Paul "Wherever I Lay My Hat" Young's home, he would be rightly driven off TV and into obscurity.
  23. Throw me a frickin' bone here!
  24. Oh I'm not at all bothered about the mpg, I just found it interesting. Sitting at 56mph behind an HGV for 15 minutes isn't my idea of fun. I'd rather be zipping along with all the other cars. My car's in for a fuel pump recall on Friday and they've asked me to have as little fuel in it as possible. Before all this grumpy pumpy hoo-hah kicked off over the weekend I had about 100 miles range and was planning a splash and dash on my way home from Huntingdon. Of course that all changed so I had to "be careful"! Let's just say, petrol availability permitting, I will be having something of a spirited drive back from Leicester. Well, as spirited as you can in an IS300h apparently.
  25. I heard on the radio that Roger Daltrey has been arrested after a punch up with another motorist at a filling station. A spokesman for Esso said that he won't get fuelled again.
