  1. I may be wrong (I often am) but isn't it an F Sport thing? I've got it on my IS and much like the flappy paddles, it has been used once then turned off.
  2. Update time: £92 to fix the wheel. Just waiting for a date now. I'm tempted to see if he takes bribes.
  3. I will be more than happy to let you know once I finally get my hands on it! This waiting is killing me.....
  4. I like the sound of that! 👍
  5. I've just put my personal reg on retention and have confirmation from the DVLA. Swinton have been informed of the change, so insurance is good to carry on. I don't need to do anything with road tax do I....? My current plates are stuck on, not screwed on (see a plethora of posts from two years ago) so I'm going to cover them with duck tape for the final trip to Leicester and go all Barry with the old '19 plates on the dashboard and parcel shelf. I've had enough grief with getting paintwork fixed. I bet you'll all be glad when I finally bring Betsy home...
  6. I'm beginning to think that the Lexus Remote Touch/Touchpad is like an IS220d. Everyone says it's crap but in actual fact most users say it's great.
  7. Now, I know you've all been dying to have an update. Well, wait no longer. Ed from Chips Away has just been. He's amazing. He took one look at the scratches on the boot lid and behind the door handle, then disappeared into his van. He returned with a cloth and a bottle of clever stuff which he rubbed onto each scratch. Both have now completely gone. He has gone away to write me a quote for fixing the wheel. Level of happiness: Euphoric.
  8. Excellent - bookmarked, many thanks!
  9. Like a fine wine, my IS300h (a rocket ship and the best car in its segment bar none), has appreciated in value during my ownership. I paid £28k for it in December 2019 and after putting about 4,000 miles on it, it's on sale at the dealership for £28,263. I hope nobody tries to buy it, because it's still on my driveway.
  10. Same thought here - that's not proper Lexus alignment. This is how it looks on my soon to be collected (hopefully....) ES:
  11. I understand that it is well signposted and diversion signs are in place, but some people still have to give it a go, don't they....
  12. Why did I think the wheels on my yet to be collected ES were black? Clearly my current wife is correct and I am suffering from early-onset Dementia.
  13. Oh I think Azure Blue does 😁
  14. A chap from Chips Away is coming for a shuftie on Monday afternoon. If he can do it quickly and it's not going to cost me several limbs, I'll go for it as I'm tired of waiting now. I can hear Betsy calling me in the early hours.....
  15. Talking of knobs, I remember buying an aluminium Momo gear knob for my first IS to replace the plastic abomination it had fitted by standard. Sadly my Engineering skills, despite having a B.Eng (Hons) in Mechanical Engineering, were not up to the task. I think it's still up in the loft. Taking the subject of knobs even further, is there an aftermarket replacement for the volume knob in an ES? The standard one seems very toy-like. A nice aluminium one would look far better IMHO.
  16. I've just had word from the repair contractors that they can come on October 26th to do the paint repairs and December 7th to do the wheel repair. Now, here's a question for you, my club chums: what would you do, having already paid for the car you're waiting for...?
  17. The young lad watching at 45 seconds - he doesn't need a Playstation or an Xbox, he's getting all the fun and excitement he needs watching flaws in German engineering!
  18. Thanks Mikey, it looks like I may have a wait ahead of me then. The temptation to see what Chips Away can do for me instead is high, as is the temptation to cancel the SmartGuard cover on the ES.
  19. Wise words from the chap at 7'28" in the video above.
  20. More Scheissewagens bite the dust!
  21. Afternoon all, Some of you may remember the posts I made a couple of weeks after collecting my IS300h (a rocket ship and the best car in its segment bar none), where I described in great detail the damage caused to the nearside front wheel when a kerb in Peterborough's Queensgate car park leapt out of the darkness and bit it, and to the area behind the driver's door handle where some ring-wearing ne'er do well had tried to break into it. Well, as you all know, I'm currently waiting to pick up Betsy, the Blue ES. When I had my IS valued, like the utter clot I am, I told them that I'd invoke the Club SmartGuard protection to get the wheel and scratches fixed up, so it could be treated as immaculate for the trade-in. I won't go into the story of the progress so far, I'll save that for a later date, so this is my question: have any of you had and invoked the Club SmartGuard protection, and if so, how bloody long does it take?
  22. Entwistle is a God. Check out Colin Hodgkinson too - he taught Stanley Clark most of what he knows. Amps today are tiny compared to what I used in the 80's. Compare a Marshall JCM head to a Trace Elliot Elf, and I'd rather lug my Trace Elliot 2x8 cab around to gigs instead of my Marshall 8x10. Two 2x8s can handle the same power more or less in far less bulk.
  23. Very similar to my trusty Hohner B2A Steinberger clone 🙂
  24. Chin up - I hope you're feeling better soon. These videos will definitely help your recovery!
