  1. I've had this a couple of times with the Lexus Insurance thing which covers you for three days after picking a car up. The most recent time wasn't as much fun as the first though. I had some young lad in India excitedly going through the quote with me, and when it came to the policy figure, he kept building it up "Are you ready for this? This is going to make your day, I'm going to make you really happy now, I'm going to quote you happy with...." then told me a figure over double of what I'd already sorted out with my current insurer. Thanks, but no thanks. When I did the cover for the ES, at least it was a case of calling them from the dealer to confirm everything, then get the massively huge annual premium, but (so far) there has been no follow up call.
  2. I'm with you Pete and Herbie. I wiped the SD card in the cam on my IS when it took it back. Why go to all the effort of installing it, then ripping it out again. My ES is booked in later this week to have the Lexus camera fitted - I will ask them how long it will take "based on the fact that the wiring should already be there"....
  3. I have, but will deny everything if Plod gets involved. It gets there very quickly, and provides an extremely solid and composed ride as you gamble on a court appearance.
  4. It's GDPR - all dashcams are now removed. What an absolute waste.
  5. I really should have checked here first. "Merde", as they say across the Channel:
  6. It's possible - they may have had a change of policy since letting me have the dashcam which was already in my IS. I mentioned all this to my wife and she does not remember there being a dashcam in the ES when I had it as a loaner, so it looks like the service history has been maintained incorrectly.
  7. No I should not have implied that. As I understood it, he meant the dealership fleet cars - as you said, it would be pretty generous of them to put them in all the cars they sold! I don't think the lady from Leicester is going to ring me so I'll draft an email to her and find out what the situation is. There are no obvious traces of where a dashcam may have been, and why would they have taken it out or told porkies for the service history? I'm sure I'll get to the bottom of it.
  8. It's an ex-Lexus Leicester car - I'm the first real owner of it. The guy who sold me the IS told me that they put dashcams in all their cars.
  9. Phew! 😆
  10. My IS which was also an ex-demo car had one, as did one of their loaner UX's. From the ES service history: and from my IS's service history:
  11. I've just checked my car's history on the Lexus site and I was slightly surprised to see that it lists a dashcam being fitted as a repair when it was a few days old. Hmm. That's a question I will have to ask the young lady who sold me the car when she makes the phone call which was promised last Saturday to find out how I was getting on. As Lexus Leicester fit dashcams to their cars as a routine measure, I was expecting to find one fitted.
  12. I've just had a look at this on the Lexus site. I'm rather perturbed that it is recording all my journeys - I shall have to take alternative transport when making clandestine visits to the Blue Oyster Bar from now on! 😄
  13. No I meant this: http://hybridassistant.blogspot.com/
  14. I've just tried to get Hybrid Assistant working. It loads, connects, goes to the main page with all the widgety doodahs on, then crashes. On their site it says it's compatible with the ES300h. Have any other ES owners found the same thing?
  15. Very nice indeed - have you given him/her a name?
  16. V5 arrived this morning, but I had to wait until an hour ago before I could change the plates over. My granddaughter was here overnight and it is verboten for me to do anything of a remotely personal nature while she is here. Anyway, earlier I gave Swinton a tinkle to update my insurance documents. The cheeky little tinkers wanted to charge me £35 to make the change. "Is this ok?", they asked? "No", I replied. "No it is not!" I had tried twice to change the reg online and their web****e could not find my car. They conceded that this was a problem at their end and waived the fee. And quite rightly so too if you ask me (which you didn't). I've got Android Auto working. Yay! Does it work wirelessly in the a '20 car? I can't get it to work other than via a cable so I'm guessing it's only the very latest cars which can do it wirelessly. Never mind - it's pretty darned good over a wire and I can live with that.
  17. I've always liked the ones from Halfords which smell of apples or berries.
  18. Wise words. If you stuck an Audi badge on a Daewoo Matiz and let them test it, they'd write that it was the best thing since sliced bread.
  19. Welcome Colin - I'm sure that someone will be along shortly to point out that posting photos of your new ride is a condition of joining the forum 😉
  20. My IS would always start in Normal if I'd switched it off in Sport. If I'd left it in Eco, it would start in Eco. Clearly they have a thing about them being left in Sport!
  21. Yes, that was straight from the dealer to the nearest filling station. I generally brim it each time I fill up so let's see - I'm definitely hoping for a better figure next time 😁
  22. I saw 364 when I brimmed the ES just outside Leicester. I do hope that improves. I think the IS was well over 400 when brimmed. Maybe after it has been driven like an old man for a while, the range will increase...
  23. It'll be interesting to see how the forthcoming changes affect renewals. One thing's for sure, I'm going to be very interested to see what Swinton want me to stump up for renewal on my ES. Given the extra I'm paying now until May, I've calculated that they want £566 pa for the ES where I was paying £326 pa for the IS. Given that I was getting quotes from the comparison sites starting at £270 pa, I think they're taking the proverbial.
  24. In both my 2IS and 3IS I think I used them no more than a handful of times. In the 2IS, had they blipped the throttle on the downchange like in Alfa's, I'd have used them a lot more. Haven't tried them in the ES yet - probably won't bother to be honest.
  25. Blimey - forget bitcoins, start buying up IS's! That's an increase of £806 in nine days:
