  1. Mine is a midget plomb. Can I say that still?
  2. I felt the same with a loaner UX I had. Enjoyed driving it but thought my bass cab and guitar would never go in the back! Betsy will swallow them with aplomb.
  3. I'll stand down then in that case.
  4. I'll keep an eye out.
  5. Very nice! I'm sure you'll stick with it. The fact that Betsy's blue coat seems to show up every micron of dirt keeps her on a regime of fortnightly washes. As my new job will mean visiting clients, I can't turn up in a dirt encrusted car so she'll be kept clean and shiny. Well, that's the plan anyway.
  6. I looked up "hideous" in my Thesaurus earlier this week and "BMW iX" was listed as a synonym.
  7. There has to be a "Yes, m'Lady" joke there somewhere, but I'm struggling...
  8. https://www.amazon.co.uk/stores/page/B0B01F38-C771-491D-BFEA-4A01C6A969F7?ingress=3 Crikey - wheels are expensive!
  9. I'm a January baby....
  10. I have to admit that I always find January a bit miserable and depressing. Once the leaves start growing on the trees and there's daylight for longer, it cheers everything up. Unfortunately, the SCS sofa sales don't stop though.
  11. Just ordered a set of these for Betsy: https://www.aliexpress.com/item/32957331388.html?spm=a2g0o.productlist.0.0.294b708enO3vOd&algo_pvid=1daaab97-b968-4a4c-805c-bc33e7a70351&algo_exp_id=1daaab97-b968-4a4c-805c-bc33e7a70351-2&pdp_ext_f={"sku_id"%3A"10000013603161450"}&pdp_pi=-1%3B13.32%3B-1%3B-1%40salePrice%3BGBP%3Bsearch-mainSearch Thanks everyone for the tips.
  12. That's a shame - I thought for a minute that Lady Penelope had gone up in the world.
  13. For £920, I'd hope that it had something special in it!
  14. Wise words Sir!
  15. Meant to add earlier - I'll be wearing those gloves which doctors wear next time I wash Betsy as my hands are feeling a little tingly at the moment. This has been a Public Heath Announcement.
  16. I'm going to be writing to the lead singer of Echo and the Bunnymen about this, make no mistake.
  17. I've tried cruise and radar but not lane centering yet.
  18. I must admit I'm not keen on mudflaps - I thought they made my IS300h look a bit naff, but after cleaning Betsy today, I'm seriously contemplating getting a set. Her hind quarters were very dirty indeed.
  19. Quick update. Betsy was looking rather less than her previously shiny self after a trip to Stamford along the back roads, so I treated to her to a wash. I got halfway round spraying the stuff on and the squirter broke. I was not happy. Not very happy at all. Luckily I managed to find a spare spray (I think my wife uses it for spraying water onto her flowers) so that was pressed into action. Had I not done this, my neighbours would have pointed and laughed at me.
  20. I'm intrigued - if Number of Cars was changed from 2 to 1, would that be beneficial?
  21. A chum asked me to transcribe the bass part of this for him (it's not going to take too long!). Not my usual fare but good enough to be added to my YouTube favourites:
  22. Swinton increased my premium from £24 a month to £52 a month for the remaining 8 months when I switched from my IS to Betsy. I did some checking around and saw that (before the industry change) I could insure Betsy for less than the IS, it being an old man's car and all that. My current premium is for 8,000 miles a year which I don't get anywhere near, so I've changed it to 10,000 including 2,000 personal miles - to be honest, any personal miles will be done in Mrs Mincey's car. Anyway, the cheapest premium with business was £40 per month which is still more than the £29-30ish I was expecting. Perhaps I'm moaning about nothing - I'll let you all decide, my learned forum chums!
  23. I'm starting a new job next month so Betsy needs her insurance changing to include business travel. Whoever said that premiums were going to rise following the industry shake up was not wrong. People should be careful what they wish for, right commuters?
