  1. I still haven't put Betsy's mud flaps on. Might not bother now!
  2. Let's hope that common sense prevails.
  3. Drivers could be forced to pay 'tyre tax' in crackdown on emissions from worn wheels and brakes | This is Money
  4. Well if BMW are going hydrogen then that surely is the end of the EV. You could stick a BMW badge on a turd and demand would soon outstrip supply so their hydrogen vehicles will sell, sell and sell some more. Some sense from the Bavarians at last.
  5. Mine had mudguards fitted when I bought it. As it was a silver car they were noticeable but I think they did help with keeping the dirt down.
  6. 😞 That's a shame - hopefully someone with a bit more knowledge (or sense!) than me will be along in a moment to offer better advice. It could of course be a replacement bumper thing as you say. Are there any sensors in the front bumper?
  7. I edited my post above to add some extra info about switching it on in that link - see if that helps
  8. They might be switched off. This is taking me back a few years but is there a green "P" icon with diagonal lines coming out of the top right or left on your dashboard? From memory, they only beep when there's something to hit, not when reverse is engaged (I stand to be corrected). Edit:
  9. My IS250 had the model number on the inside of where the driver's door shuts, just above the tyre pressures. Worth a look there?
  10. I must admit I'm tempted to call Leicester and see if they can help out.
  11. The only company I've had to deal with for an incident was Hastings Direct when I needed the windscreen on my IS250 replacing. They were shocking. Absolutely shocking. Took ages to get through then I was fannied around for over two weeks while they tried to work out which one of their two windscreen replacement companies were going to come out. I almost got very cross with them. I'm currently with the AA and will be seeing how their windscreen replacement service compares shortly.
  12. Bravo Sir - I'm going to take my hat off to you too. You have done a fantastic job there.
  13. From Car and Driver (Lexus Tapped to Lead Toyota's Reformed Plan to Prioritize EVs (caranddriver.com)) "The new CEO also said that while focusing on EVs is now the top priority, the company will continue to develop hybrid, plug-in hybrid, and hydrogen-fueled powertrains." So they're not giving up on hydrogen. They would be foolish to do so given that many other manufacturers are getting into the correct solution.
  14. The NHS is in a worse state than I'd thought!
  15. We are a very discreet lot 🙂
  16. I remember being distinctly unchuffed when I discovered that my IS300h wasn't in the £10 band!
  17. I was concerned that Betsy might have been thrown together by a bunch of Good Ole Boys but after a quick look at the VIN, the first letter being a J shows she's from Japan.
  18. The move to EVs is also affecting jobs: Ford to cut one in five jobs in the UK - BBC News
  19. My first drive in Betsy was a very squeaky bum moment. For those who don't know, my IS300h had been recalled for a fuel pump replacement. It was the time where refineries were being barricaded by those eco loonies and petrol was like rocking horse poo. I needed to get back to Peterborough and Lexus Leicester had only given me 45 miles of fuel according to Betsy's fuel computer. All the petrol stations from Leicester to Peterborough were dry except (thankfully) this station on the A47 at Morcott. I could have hugged the proprietor. The return journey was a more spirited affair, what with her having a third of a tank of petrol to enjoy. What happened next of course is history.
  20. Over the past few weeks I've been playing "Diesel or Petrol" whenever I see a Gen 2 IS. Diesels have outnumbered petrols 5 to 1. And before anyone asks, yes they were different cars.
  21. I'd heard that you really want a Japanese built one.
  22. My first Lexus would have been V704 TAV had I not put a personalised plate on it!
  23. I'd question your first sentence - working for an MSP I get to find out what users really think about their Apple products, and not what they say to their aspirational friends. My company's parent company has connections to Foxconn so we are made to use iPhones for business and there is no way in Hell that the vast majority of us would use them unless we had to or have ones for personal use. Your comment about their marketing though is spot on. If Apple were to put their logo on wee beige jobbies, they would fly off the shelves by the million.
  24. I noticed this week that a most excellent fix has been applied. Previously, it would cut out whenever I approached the local railway station or passed Bretts Transport on the A47 near Guyhirn. Now there is no break up at all. Well done you AAWireless people!
  25. Dreadful tat. Trouble is, their stuff is very successfully marketed to sheep.
