I have found out that the default factory fitted OEM HID bulb that comes with the IS 250 SE-L and Sport is a DS4 type Discharge Bulb. The default one supplied has a colour temp of 4300k. I've found some sites based in the US that sell direct replacements for these OEM DS4 bulbs and they sell the 6000k and the 8000k. I'm thinking of ordering a pair of 6000k DS4 bulbs

Can't say I've noticed any rattle from the engine when cold is it just my car thats making this noise then? i mentioned this to my dealer they checked it out and said when starting up in cold weather it does make some noise and its normal but it didnt seem like they tried to drive it when it was cold, as that rattle style noise comes when accelerating -

after a cold night when the engine is cold, does anyone feel/hear their IS 250's engine rattle? it seems when the engine gets really cold and when i start driving, the engine feels and sounds like its rattling as i am accelerating. the rattle goes away after a couple of minutes of driving. I am just wondering if this is normal -
Tire Pressures

No the model with the detachable gauge does not auto cut-off. If you want that facility you will need the next model up (the 12262) I think that sells for about £10 more? problem with the next model up is that it doesnt have the detachable gauge. how does the model with the detachable gauge actually work then if it doesnt cut off automatically? how do we go about setting the desired pressure? -

i sorted my tyre presures last night rear 38 and front 35 at my local petrol station which offers the service. only thing is in the book it says that tyre inflation should be done when tyres are cold for acurate results. I'm just wondering if that is really nessary because i need to actually drive down to my petrol station down a 50mph dual carriageway by which time my engine warms up and assume tyres are hot -

Looks interesting, how do you go into the hidden menu? -
I contacted the Lexus Dealer that the car was purchased from NEW and they have confirmed that the car is an SEL MM Auto and that is the specs that it left the factory as. I have requested if they could put that in writing for me so I can possibly write to DVLA and have this ammended. Would that be sufficient to rectify the problem?

Hello everyone, I purchased my IS 250 from a private prestige car dealer over 6 months ago. I bought the car assuming it was an SE. It was advertised as an SE, and even on the Logbook it is an SE and DVLA vehicle enquiries website shows it as an SE. But when i came to registering the car with my local lexus dealer they told me the car is an SE-L, and now after getting an SE courtesy from my local lexus during my service, it seems mine is an SE-L. The SE that I had as courtesy did not have seat memory, no electrochromatic mirrors, no parking sensors and no HID lights. Mine however has all this and when looking at the stickers on my car, one of them actually says Lexus IS 250 SE-L. Before me there has only been one owner of this car and it has been bought and serviced at the same lexus dealer all the time until i purchased it. I am just wondering what i should do? should i leave it or should i rectify this? as the DVLA thinks its an SE and so does my Insurance company. What would be the process of rectifying this?

thanx jamboo, i came across that site aswell before but for some strange reason when i looked at the price for my plate it was more expensive than other sites, but now that you mentioned it i just realised the price quoted includes VAT and transfer fee which is great. Thanks In regards to spacing out the letters, i see alot of cars out there that have a letter and then a space and then the remaining part of their registration number. Even if its spaced out, the number is still the same at the end of the day so police etc can still look up the reg on the system

thanks everyone for all your advice so far. I've found an available plate i want and a firm that deals with transfering it aswell. I do have one question though. The firm that are going to do the transfer require that I send them My Log Book and a photocopy of my tax disc so that they can have ammended tax disc issued to me and a ammended logbook (no MOT required as the car is still under 3 years old) My question is, when i send them my logbook, my current number plate stays on the car right? until i receive my new log book and then i just get my cars plates changed? but what happens to my current plate? like during the transfer process will there be a time where my current number plate will no longer be on the system and if so then if i drive around with my current plate and if its not on the system then i can get pulled over by the police. How would i go about keeping my new plate just incase i want to sell my car in the future?

i've got a normal number plate at the moment on my IS 250 SE-L. I've always been wanting to get a personalised plate. But everytime i google it i get companies that offer so-called new style and old style personal plates but it still follows the number plate format. I am interested in getting a plate that doesnt follow any format. Can anyone please guide me in the right direction as to how i go about doing this. And if i get it, what do i need to do? let lexus know? my insurance company know etc.? and what happens to my original plate that i will replace? Any advice on this issue would be very much appreciated. Many thanks in advance
