  1. If the car is still under warranty, this is something that the dealership sorts out under warranty. It is usually related to bulb failure and in a few cases have been related to faulty DENSO ballasts. If the car is not under warranty, then your best bet to buy the OEM Phillips D4S bulbs would be from sellers abroad. You can pickup brand new sets of OEM 4300K Phillips bulbs from USA on eBay for about $80. Here in the UK the dealerships will charge over £200 for the replacement.
  2. Thanks :) will probably give it a try and if it doesnt look nice can always revert back to original :)
  3. Regarding your sub removal, maybe this link will help
  4. ^^ Thanks Janey :) I'm debating whether or not I should also use this same 3M Di-Noc to wrap the instrument cluster trim like the following thinkDesign one: But not in silver ofcourse :) in the same black colour one that i've wrapped the switches in. Suggestions and opinions would be great.
  5. A couple of weeks with this intake and drilled airbox and I am really loving it even more. I can definately notice a better throttle response and better pickup. I am also loving the deep growl sound that it produces between 4k and 7k rpm. :)
  6. Thanks, but when opening the bonnet it doesn't look like a job for me. Will have to take it to Lexus. LOL :D well if the car is still under warranty then take it to lexus and you should get a new set of bulbs installed for free
  7. It is usually related to bulb failure, try swapping the bulbs around and see if the problem switches to the other side
  8. I forgot to mention, if anyone decides to do this mod you will face the following issue after re-connecting the battery: The power Window Controls on the Driver's Side will not work after unplugging the battery. Dont panick, this is Normal. To rectify this, you will first need to roll DOWN then UP each window individually with the switch on each Door. Once this has been done, you will gain back the Driver's Door Window Controls. For NAV owners, the system will go through a reboot process that takes about 30 seconds.
  9. Thats the only pic I remembered to take while modding it. I did eventually file it down and smoothen it all out Dremel was out of order so had to use old fashion filing method. Took longer than expected :D I put in a HKS Drop In Filter
  10. I'm really liking this 3M Di Noc even more as days pass. Looks different with different angles and feels awesome. I think for a £3.99 mod, it's the best value mod :D Here's another angle pic:
  11. For those who might be aware, lexus offer a performance improving intake system for the IS250 called the The F-Sport High-Flow Air Intake. This system consists of slightly re-designed lower airbox, a re-usable dry filter, and a polished, clear-coated aluminum tube. It claims that the breathing, is improved. It uses the existing Lexus filter enclosure top, but replaces the bottom half with a specially designed and reshaped intake which produces a deeper, more powerful intake sound that varies with throttle applications and generates a small increase in rear wheel horsepower. Pictured below: This kit costs around $400 plus shipping. and because of it's value, the import duty and VAT on it will be high. So I decided to get the Polished Joe Z Direct Air Flow Intake (D-AFI) pipe instead. It is much cheaper at only $125. This pipe replaces the factory plastic tube of the stock intake system, fully utilizing the stock air box. The intake pipe inner surface has a smooth design that claims to give your oem system optimal air flow without any disruptions. It's also claimed that independent DYNO Test results on a stock manual 6 speed IS250 showed gains of 6+ Rwhp Max Power & 5.6+ ft.lbs of Peak Torque. In order to get the deeper & more powerful intake sound that the F-Sport system provides, I decided to modify my stock lower airbox by making the extra opening that the F-Sport lower airbox has. The main difference between the F-Sport lower airbox and stock lower airbox is that the F-Sport one incorporates an additional opening drawing more air from the headlight area and giving a much better growl Anyway, I have installed my Joe Z intake and modified my airbox. The installation was a breeze. I've had it installed for just over a week now and I must say I am very impressed. The car seems much more responsive and you do feel the kick. The deeper growl above 3500rpm is awesome. Initially i was thinking of upgrading my exhaust to get a better sound to match the rear IS-F conversion. The problem I faced with most of these exhausts is that the noise level increases at a lower rpm level and I didnt want this. With this intake and airbox mod, I get a deeper growl when the car is pushed above 3500rpm. I will try and produce a sound clip or video sometime soon and post it. There are alot of youtube videos comparing the sound. But what I noticed is that most of those videos are comparing the rev sound when the car is in PARK. These sounds are not actually the sound you get when driving. The growl sound is awesome when the car is actually being driven and air is being sucked into the intake. Note: Tango was the first to do this mod :D Here are some pics of the installed intake and airbox mod Stock Intake Pipe removed: Lower airbox drilled Joe Z intake installed
  12. You do have a good point :) I guess I chose to compromise on the slight lower light output for a better cosmetic look :D
  13. I applaud all your mods except 8000k fogs which will give you high scatter and very much worse forward vision in fog than filament bulbs. Similarly because of the characterstics of the eye and the colour temperature of reflected road surfaces, signs and surroundings, your 6000 headlamps will give you poorer forward vision but appear brighter to cars coming the other way, perhaps dazzling - than the original 4300k HIDs which were chosen for these reasons after a good deal of research. The fogs are mainly to have a better colour match with the HIDs and we rarely get to use fogs here anyway. Most of the time you get pulled over if you use fogs when you are not supposed to. In regards to the 6000k bulbs, yes you are correct in the sense that the higher the kelvin rating the lower the visibility. But it's a very slight difference. I've compared the two side by side and the difference is very minimal yet the colour on the 6k is much nicer. In regards to dazzling, the 6000k do not dazzle anyone i've tested this and from my research i've figured out that lexus have actually aimed the projectors quite low on the IS and many people outside europe do not like the low aim and have posted DIY guides on how to adjust the aim. If the aim is adjusted, then maybe it might become dazzling but with the stock aim, the light is very sharp and no dazzle at all :)
  14. For those who might not be aware, the 2011 IS250 and the new IS200d now has these steering wheel control switches in flat silver. a pic is below:
  15. Nope.. There is absolutely no need to take it off and create extra work for yourself. If you want to be careful and are worried about getting paint where it shouldnt go, then just mask it up. I just made sure i used very good arts & craft brushes (different sizes for the edges). I didnt mask it up or anything. Remember not to apply or have too much on the brush otherwise it may drip
  16. +1 I have 4 mp3 cd's and 1 dvd movie in my car and i've had them in there for over 1 year. I change from cd to cd all the time and never had any issues. I did once put a CD that had label printed on it. I forgot to take it out and when I took it out I realised the printed label started to melt. (Luckily i removed it on time)
  17. Yeh that is a rear gs450h badge that i've got on the front and it's small. It is actually even smaller than the stock OEM trunk badge that comes on the 2nd Generation IS. The RX badge however is much bigger and that's what i've got at the back :) I was considering swapping the back one with the front one, but then changed my mind :D
  18. I agree :) it's an extremely durable product. the video below shows and proves how durable it is:
  19. I was wondering where you got to. you're usually one of the first to comment. I think the hybrid version of the emblem is really matter of preference. Even on clublexus some people like the idea and some dont. I agree that the front one is small and hence the need to modify it and make it look bigger After I installed a hybrid version on my trunk-lid (pictured below), I thought if I manage to get a good deal on another one, i'll do it on the front aswell :D I managed to pick it up for £26. Now the front emblem matches the back one that I have here: :D
  20. I was trying to do this. I tried a few methods and all of these methods cause a loss of 3D texture on the Di Noc. I contacted carbonmods.co.uk to find out if they have a way. They've said that they tried many methods to try and get a gloss effect on the Di Noc and all of them cause a loss of 3D effect and most importantly the laquer eventually peels off. Hence my conclusion of carbon skinning for a glossy real carbon look.
  21. I'm currently looking into the possibility of creating a mold of this grille so that I can re-produce it much cheaper.
  22. Thanks Thanks. Not sure if i'm going to be wrapping anything else yet. I dont want to get carried away with wrapping I am considering getting a high temp version of this vinyl and wrapping the engine cover with it though.
  23. Steering column tucks in and away when car is turned off aswell i think . My IS250 SE-L does that and i'm sure the SE loaners i've had never did it :)
