Quite an old thread revival, but the thing that confuses me about spacesavers is, if you get a flat and put the spacesaver on, what do you do with the standard sized wheel?
wild guess... but you could get a new tyre on the standard wheel and stick that one back on...

welcome to LOC!
red oil light and also the orange/yellow oil light with the squiggly line under it.There is also one which shows the car from the top with what seems to be the back lights on or flashing?
oil light with line underneath:- usually comes on when ignition is on, only need to worry if it comes on while your driving. means theres not enough oil in the engine.
the other light, again comes on with ignition, its a brake light out check. goes away once car is started.
does the car try and turn over? or is it dead when you turn the key?
hope this get sorted quick time!

i'd go for the mazda 6 out of all those options. the mps will fit in that budget and will blow most cars away. the mps is in no way a step down from the lexus! but remember mazda is part owned by gm! this can be good and bad....
afaik: infiniti dont sell in japan.
mps: 260bhp 260ft lb, 4wheel drive, 0-60 5.4sec

the tyre shop could easily said you need new tyres and taken your money. instead they are being honest!

i would of thought it was to check brake fluid level... the mk2 has a rear bulb out warning light (although its abit poop as it will only work if both filaments are blown)
-
1 more quick question!
would the 10" rear fit the MK2 without rolling or pulling the arches?
-
not a silly question, and in my opinion it has no ill effect on the engine. the ecu adjusts the timing to cater for higher ron.

hi
i've noticed that 99ron from tesco lasts longer than 95. the car also feels faster
-
lovely car! i've seen one of those take out a M5. i wanted one, but being young insurance on those beasts are too much.
-
re igintion timing > i wouldnt adjust the timing until you find out exactly what it is ment to be and what you can adjust it to. usa run lower ron than us, whether that would of made a difference to the set degrees i dont know, but someone should on this site!
also find out how to retard the timing before adjusting it yourself.
i found advancing the timing on my previous car beneficial but using 95ron was a big no no. had to be 99ron! car had a spring in its step and got more mpg!

despite the lack of miles i get on the gs, im extremely happy with its performance. off the line acceleration no one sees it coming.
are your tyres at the correct psi? makes a huge difference to performance and mpg.
-
hi
with mpg you cant expect much. its an old engine (technology wise). driving at 70mph uses less petrol than when crusing at 80. i've found driving in snow mode helps with mpg.
at the end of the day we've got motorway cruisers not race cars. most torque is produced at 4k-5k rpm. i kinda know what you mean when you say you have to bury your foot around the 60mph mark, i reckon theres a flat spot there. although i've noticed when in pwr mode the car holds revs longer so when you want to go theres no kick down as its in the suitable gear already ... the car also has a learning ecu... if you drive gently to save fuel it will learn this and help so to speak... drive it hard for awhile and it acts more potent!
the best bang for buck in my opinion is TESCO 99RON PETROL!!!! (also get more miles out of it)
what petrol do you use?

and for the fronts?

i sat down for a couple of mins pushing the back plate with a screw driver and it seems to of sorted it... :)
thanks!

hey folks!
tte state to use 245/40 size tyres for their 9 spoke 8.5" front rims.... fair enough..
but for the 10inch rear its the same... wouldnt the lip of the alloy stick out? i hate it when alloys stick out more than the rim..
what do people with 10inch rears use?
thanks

heya,
got my new brakes fitted, but when i turn the steering wheel right i can hear the passenger rear pad skim against the disc. the mech took it apart as he thought the sheild was rubbing but it wasnt. we jacked the car up put it in drive and released the brake to spin the wheel. the noise only happens when the pads are in the caliper.
he said he cant find anything wrong, and i was expecting some noise as the piston gets use to the new position. the noise has gotten quieter but im worried that it may over heat if it keeps happening.
has anyone experienced this before?
thanks

you've got no choice.... tell the mrs to get a bus home and use her coat to cover the seat where the alloy will sit!
