  1. LHD image but this may help. I didn't think of the gateway ecu and I remember investigating a potential fault on the LS430 gateway a few years ago.
  2. I'm not sure from the description but it could be a faulty switch or may just need a reset. Check the window lock button is okay first and then go to the passenger door window button. Press it to see if it will nudge up or down slightly. You may be able to feel if the motor is trying to operate.
  3. A video or audio clip would help. Seat belt or handbrake 'on' warning beep?
  4. Thanks Colin, it's certainly made me curious. As I said earlier, apart from any tuning, the only difference I can see is in the manifolds, exhaust and intake. Unless it's forced induction, air intake doesn't normally make very much difference if at all so the complex dual ram LS460 set up is interesting. Yes, I shall have to consider brakes, suspension, ARBs and maybe bracing but the aim is to keep the look and overall ride quality as close to standard as possible. The brakes do feel very strong, in fact given the mileage it all seems pretty tight. If there's a weakness it may be in the age of the rear suspension. When it warms up I might start using the car again and investigate further.
  5. Yes Nick, there are some odd physical differences in the intake and the exhaust which might make a slight difference but it's unlikely to be as much as 33 bhp without some ECU tuning. I think it is exactly as you say, for marketing reasons Lexus didn't want the GS460 to overshadow the LS for performance or perhaps be a roomy alternative to the ISF. They changed their 'tune' later with the RCF, GSF and LC all providing different flavours of performance packages. That said the GS350, GS430 and 450 are all 'quick' comfy cars. The madness has commenced, I've ordered the bit's from PPE in Arizona to build the headers. The delay to making and shipping them provides time to find a UK fabricator to build the offside header.
  6. Thanks Steve, in that case, I definitely need to meet them. I'm quite well set up for most things but they might be the right guys to help with the GS460 and the SC430 is overdue another dyno run too. 🙂
  7. The dealer has to make the profit somewhere and they will allow for the odd issue or surprise. They won't put the car on the forecourt so it will go out to trade. £2900 is very low if it's a well kept example, they hope you are keen to enjoy the new car and want to offload the old car hassle free. Lexus Reading and Cardiff offered £4k for my 06 SC against 2 different RCFs, it's about what I expected.
  8. Ah, sorry I missed this post. Yes SRD are on my list to contact and they are only a few miles away. I think I've met one of the guys as I had a recommendation to visit them whilst in Burgess Hill about 18 months ago but I haven't been to see them yet. Lee has a very good reputation. I know they can fit them but I wonder if they can build headers? The work they did on the RR Supercharged ISF was impressive and it appears they have their own dyno too.
  9. Yes, turning thoughts and ideas into costs. Started looking for a new rear bumper to be rid of the quads too.🙂 I was looking at the rear light arrangement after reading something on the US forum and was surprised to learn that the tail-lights are only fitted to the outer lens clusters and not both. Am I permitted a subtle rear spoiler? @Thomas, you can have the 55 people who accidentally subscribed to my channel if that would help? I say 'channel' but it was just a vid. I was trying to think of a new idea or angle on reviewing for you but there are so many reviewers out there already, all trying to carve more than their share. There's one in the US with lots of followers and he's hopeless with the facts and objective views but still gets a good response. Perhaps you could review a car whilst detailing it or visiting well known Scottish landmarks. I'm not suggesting you resort to performing cartwheels in a kilt while playing the bagpipes (that could go viral) but a review with some new or slightly different insight to draw people in with the promise of the next intriguing installment would be good. Maybe you could host a live Lexus webchat session occasionally. Plenty of hot topics like cat convertor theft, infotainment help required, wheel ideas, paint correction or even simple purchasing advice.
  10. Now awaiting a quote from PPE in the US for short pipe headers but I will need to find a fabricator in the UK to make up the offside header to avoid fouling the steering column. Apparently the header flanges on the GS460 1UR are different to the ISF 2UR too, I was surprised at that.
  11. Nice work, that looks amazing. I think you have a rare 'eye' for what I might call understated flair.
  12. Hi Andy 14 years, that must be worth a long service medal. 👍 There are a few ways you could deal with the side markers. I have a bodykit on mine so took the opportunity before fitting the bumpers to blank out the side markers with fibre-glass. A good body-shop should have no great difficulty doing the same to your original bumpers but there's a fair amount of work involved to do it properly. There's a short version of the thread here. https://www.lexusownersclub.co.uk/forum/topic/112580-sc430-project/ and it will lead you elsewhere too. One of the best if not the best examples of a class and cost effective solution to side markers is found on Steve's WIL44 's SC430. There are lots of subtle changes to the car, it's brilliant but as you can see, the side markers look fine painted in the body colour. Here's a thread on clublexus that may help. https://www.clublexus.com/forums/sc430-2nd-gen-2001-2010/584952-how-to-remove-side-markers.html
  13. Thanks Thomas, very pleased with it so far. Viewed your latest vid the other day. Keep them coming. When I sell the SC430 perhaps I could edit the You Tube video and commission you to do the voice-over sales pitch? 🙂
  14. Bob, I forgot to report that another brochure lists, Parchment, Grey and Black as the choice of interior trim.
  15. Very nice looking car. The new wheels really suit the car and give it a more modern look. A little like the newer LS460 F Sport wheels to my eye. I always use Mobil 1 but as Nick says, any genuine oil meeting the correct spec. should be fine. May I ask how far back your Tenabe exhaust goes, is it essentially both rear boxes and tails or have you changed anything forward of that? Always nice to hear a bit of V8 burble. 👍
  16. Hi Alan, that looks very good but if you have a suitable laptop, seriously consider following Nick's advice and look at Toyota Techstream and a VCI cable. It's Lexus/Toyota specific software. I've never heard of a PAS pulley 'coming off'' before, that sounds quite a dramatic fail.
  17. Hi Phil, how's it going? Yes it's the same engine but it breathes a little differently to the LS460 1UR-FSE. I'm having fun researching the details and pondering over what subtle changes I might consider doing. I was looking for a newer style LS400/600 but couldn't resist the GS460 when it appeared. When restrictions are lifted I'll dust off the chauffeur's cap and head South for a gentle glide along the 27. (I actually had a chauffeurs cap with the LS430) It's very smooth and quiet but not as refined as a 'well oiled' LS/Celsior.....nothing is, even the later LS models make slightly more noise.
  18. It's mostly fine but I do occasionally forget where the buttons are after switching cars. I would say it's easier than the SC but you just get used to using any Lexus after a short while. The RX has most of the settings on the screen too but again it's a slightly different format. As John says, you may set it up to to begin with to perhaps clear screens on take off and then drop back to the 'Auto' setting after 5-10 mins. Some owners have read the whole manual so can probably change the settings by voice control in 7 languages....I'm still working on it.😉
  19. Something wrong Bob have you forgotten your LPNC password again? I had another little search last night but no new info. Perhaps there aren't any other GS460 owners visiting here either. There are at least two low mileage examples among the few that I've traced so far. I've been caught out a couple of times by the lack of traction on take off in the wet and still being over-cautious on the twisty bits, not that I've been in a hurry but it does seem to hold the road quite well. The GS450 must be impressive if it's fractionally quicker as this thing is certainly no slouch. Point to point probably not quite as agile as the SC but with similar treatment I'm quite sure it could be in ISF territory. New shocks, and beefier ARBs to control the sway would seem a good idea. It has reasonable clearance but does look and feel quite low to the road. It feels like it needs more rear end grip but I don't want to compromise the comfortable ride.
  20. Paint code is 212 and the trim is LC00. It might be the only one with that combination. In the original service book it's written down as Velvet black and Ivory 😏 Unclebob has had far too much influence on me lately, whilst I was waiting for the car to be delivered, I started to trace the list of the 17 UK GS460 cars. Of the 17 I found the details for 6 quite quickly. The 7th was a second black car with black leather but I couldn't find the number plate for it.
  21. £470 sounds expensive. The OBD2 port is under the dash, below and to the right of the steering column it has a plastic cover that you simply unclip.
  22. Yes I confess when I bought it I looked underneath from the back and both sides but didn't inspect it as closely as I would normally. The research gave me confidence, it drove as well as I would expect it to, it was just as described and priced to sell quickly. link to brochure https://www.manualslib.com/manual/92701/Lexus-2008-Lexus-Gs.html?page=19#manual Getting you up to speed on my research Nick GS460 LS460 1UR with dual ram air intake system. I'm not sure if or how it makes a difference yet but it's interesting. The GS460 1UR uses a poor design 'log' manifold. The LS460 1UR has a better manifold that pairs the exhaust ports into 2 Y pieces and then to 1 pipe to the primary cat for each bank. Example of PPE ISF headers. If I could justify/afford it. I would go headers to cats, downpipes merged to x pipe, dual to 2 high flow resonators, 2 rear silencers, standard tails. All smooth and quiet. Another 'nice to have' would be paddle shift. The only steering wheel I have identified that might work, catering for the radar cruise distance setting is the ISF.
  23. Oh here we go, who let you two sit together?! 🤣🤣 .....Regan and Carter. I returned to the thread after a few hours work and the task force has been assembled. Sweeney Todd the Lexus Plod.🤣 If I'm going to be under surveillance, it might as well be by the best. 👍 Like the look of that LS460 but no sunroof? They're so comfortable for a long trek. The differences in the F-Sport model are worth having. LSD Brembo brakes. etc. Unusually some of the US models are better specified than the few we have here. The LS600 is something else, very heavy but I want one. They should all be supplied with a chauffeurs cap. I was going to take some underside pics yesterday afternoon but it was cold and was going to be a faff getting the SC out of the way for jacks and stands to put the GS up in the air sufficient to get a decent view so retreated into the warm. This is all I have for now. I'm not so keen on the interior colour Bob, it's 'tan' I suppose and in very good condition. A gentle leather clean and it will be almost like new. The only signs of very minor wear are in the driver's seat and the original drivers floor mat.
  24. Thanks Steve, I've been trawling for info and gradually improving my knowledge of the GS460, flash your lights if I hold you up on the A23. Cheers Nick, no wide arches or outrageous spoilers for this one and anything I do will be under the skin and reversible. Not planning any hifi changes or obd stuff. Nice to have the DVD and thankfully the radio reception is all fine but the CD/DVD audio was worse than I remember it in the GS430. I'll make do with radio 2 or cricket. If I thought it could be done at reasonable cost, I would fit the rhd version ISF Sikky or PPE headers and build the exhaust to be quiet but I estimate it would be in the order of £3.5k which is too much. I have some interior bits to detail including leather cleaning to do, the beige drivers mat is worn. The exhaust needs a proper look. On first inspection the underside looks pretty good.👍 Throttle response is a bit 'laggy,' headlights look slightly down on brightness though lenses fine. Probably due some new rear dampers but it does ride very well. No advisories on the new MOT. It had not been taxed for ages so as per the vid, may just have been used for a short while by the dealer and then stored. The Lexus dealer history on the website looks okay, when I bought it I was allowing for one or two small surprises but so far so good. Need to book it in with Lexus Gatwick for a service next.
  25. The boot size is indeed very good. I get the feeling plan B isn't likely to get through the LOC planning committee.🤣 I did start a thread in the GS section looking for guidance and info and I said there that with only a likely 12-13 left in the country, despite my track record, I do feel the weight of responsibility to the car.
