  1. I will try Colin's suggestion of ordinary cruise on my NX - thanks Colin. Yes it works! Thanks Colin! I must get round to reading the manual AGAIN!
  2. Are you prepared to name the Toyota dealer in question? Not good after sales service!
  3. The radar cruise is excellent for safe and relaxed cruising on a busy motorway. Set it for say, 60mph, then if you follow a car doing 50mph your speed will adjust to their speed. So what? You might say, if the car in front alters their spped up and down then your car will match without you braking or accelerating. By indicating to overtake, the radar is "switched" to 60 mph and you begin to accelerate. The only odd thing I have found is when a car moves into your lane quite close to you. The radar does not seem to react at first. A good feature really as the car would brake every time a car pulled in front of you. I will try Colin's suggestion of ordinary cruise on my NX - thanks Colin.
  4. Personal experience with cars does taint your view. My poor Volvo and BMW experiences (compared to Lexus) has soured my view of these makes. Whenever I have strayed away from Japanese derived cars, I have been bitten with costly repairs.
  5. No, we can pinch their wonderful recipies!
  6. You take it to good exhaust shop for their opinion on the best way forward.
  7. France is a wonderful country ............ just a shame the French live there! We should not have given it back!
  8. The locking features on the NX are there to prevent you locking yourself out of the car. There are a few circumstances when the car will not lock. Window open, gear selector not in park (P), key left in the vehicle. I have been caught out a few times and had to work out what was wrong. I suppose I should have read the manual! Sorry John (Royoftherovers).
  9. Oh no Colin! A re-badged Previa!
  10. Do not be put off Lexus cars by a poor dealer. They are cracking cars, especially with regard to other makes for reliability. Go to another dealer if you get bad service. Out of interest, did you purchase the car from that dealership? Not that should make any difference!
  11. If it is as much space as possible you need - then get an RX but as Colin suggests, get an insurance quote for the RX and NX. The NX boot is not as large as the RX and the back seats do not adjust. NX is more economical on fuel and road tax. Look at both side by side, if you can, to compare. Either car will be very pleasing!
  12. I give feed back on the staff I came across, and for the most part it's negative. i just can't seam to get the numbers up to make a solid team and put them in one centre. There are some good staff i should add but very few in numbers . (Fourbanks) I find that very interesting. What are the reasons for this? Not enough people with the right qualifications? Training? Or a general attitude people now adopt to work? What are your thoughts Nick?
  13. I sometimes find it difficult, as a follower and occasional contributor to the LOC, to quickly and confidently distinguish legitimate opinion-based argument from sterile forms of argumentativeness, correct information from incorrect information or (heaven forbid) wilful misinformation, and legitimate complaints from generic rants. I think, Renato, you are going to get this on any forum. The LOC is far better than many I have used in the past. The moderators are keen to try and prevent this. Some feel they are too quick to jump in. However, if posts breach T&C guidlines, then there is not excuse. We must accept that people on the forum will have different opinions, some of them entrenched. I am pleased when debate gets heated that moderators step in to defuse / end a situation developing. Here on the LOC, we are far more civilised than other car forums!
  14. Keep us informed how you find them against the Michelin.
  15. Spot on Ken, a very valid summary of good reasons to buy from a Lexus dealer. You will pay a premium for the purchase and the servicing but you will have peace of mind that you should not be landed with a huge repair bill if something goes wrong. Advice - get an insurance quote before you buy.
  16. I had the interesting experience of going with my elderly (but switched-on) neighbour to buy a car. It was a two year old Mazda CX5. I had an interesting conversation with the youmg salesman. I asked him if he was passionate about what he was selling (Mazda). His answer was, "Not really, it is just a matter of financial margins. I am not bothered what I sell." My own experience at Lexus Canterbury was the opposite. I felt the person I was dealing with was genuinely trying to find us the right car. Pampering? BS? I don't care, it felt good and I bought a car! (not the one I originally went to see). Could it be that most of us on the forum are of the older age group and therefore have a view influenced by past experiences? We want to have a good relationship with a dealer that is going to service our car - I am probably being naive and nowadays it makes no difference.
  17. Interesting review:-
  18. It looks really good. Basically the cost of a Lexus service! Well worth it in my opinion.
  19. very optimistic 🙂 Probably but worth a try.
  20. Disconnect the battery for about ten min utes and reconnect. It may reboot the system.
  21. After owning the RX300 and getting 22 mpg - 40+ out of my NX300h is brilliant to me! Around 30 mpg for the RX400h overall.
