  1. I can see full EV becoming the norm for most domestic car use. The future calls ..... but no too loudly! I will enjoy my V8 for a little longer me thinks.
  2. Could not agree more - better than "official" launch photos!
  3. That looks really smart! A bit of a contrast to the Duster!
  4. The IS looks really good - you must be very pleased. What other vehicles have you owned out of interest?
  5. That is an interesting question. However, I believe that the sum of money an individual is prepared to spend on a "new" car is fixed to a certain extent. How economical that car will be, will be down to the individual. Depreciation and running costs are big factors, but the amount someone will spend, I believe is set. Most buyers have a figure in mind before they look. e.g. BMW 3 SERIES 3.0 325i M Sport Highline 2dr (59 plate, 84,000 miles) Ford Fiesta 1.0T 100PS Titanium 5dr (65 plate 10,500 miles Both cars cost £10,000 but running costs will be very different.
  6. I had an NSU Prinz to learn to drive - gearbox was like stiring porridge!
  7. Very good photo shoot. Enjoyed looking at them.
  8. I was just thinking back a few years about my car experience. Do you remember when you were young and just passed your test, what (obtainable) cars did you covet? I don’t mean Ferraris etc. but cars you might have been able to afford. I think many of us were influenced by our father’s preference. My father was a Ford man ……. until he drove for Toyota! Are there any cars that you might have considered buying but now look back and cringe? This thread is not about cars you actually purchased ……… but those that you considered, when you were younger and less experienced, if you had the money. I read many new car reports in the 1970’s and was often swayed by their glowing testaments:- Talbot Horizon – European Car of the Year 1979 – hired one in Jersey – crap! Lancia Beta – friend bought one ………. More rust than metal in the end AND it had been Ziebarted! Talbot Alpine – I liked the idea of the hatchback. Alfasud – they were just rust buckets and very unreliable. Mk III Cortina 1600 GXL – still covet one. A chap has a 2000E near me. Capri 3 litre – wanted one to put 1.3 badges on! Traffic light stealth car! Austin Metro – for the wife – thank God I did not buy one! Hillman Imp – thought they might be economical. Morris Marina – wanted to swap my MKII Cortina – thank goodness I didn’t! What motoring disasters have you been saved from?
  9. I think it is worth the money. Type in £3500 to £4000 into Autotrader and look at the options - Peugeot 107 anyone?
  10. Whatever you paid for it I do not think you will be disappointed. Don't consider the age - consider the refinement. It will be worth every penny! Photos please!
  11. You have a kind heart towards wildlife! I salute you sir!
  12. Or even a LS430 ? That would be a contrast to the ISF. My only concern is that you will like it more than your ISF!
  13. I didn't see that one coming! 14 mile trip there ???? 14 mile trip back??? Have you considered an electric bike? Before you say "But when it rains...." buy a wetsuit!
  14. There is at least one guy on here who has had one.
  15. £9600 is the cheapest on Autotrader .... just wonder what he will find wrong with it? Gear Knob or number platenot straight? Looking forward to his reply!
  16. That is just the ticket........ but is it in his price range? If he has Yorkshire or Scottish blood in him, he won't give a penny more!
  17. I would gladly trade ergonomics for reliability. It is not always about cost, it is just that I used to get fed up with having to take cars back to the garage in between services. I have strayed away from Japanese derived cars but have suffered the consequences (BMW - autobox, Skoda - Turbo, Renault - cambelt failure, Volvo - big mistake! VW Golf head gasket). Possibly I have been lucky, but I have never had a Japanese derived lemon.
  18. Thanks, that was interesting.
  19. You have an ISF! How can you say that? Have you been drinking Guinness?
