  1. Take a look at this video - it should put a smile on your face Lawrence!
  2. Brilliant! That is the way to actually sell a car. I think we can learn a few pointers from the Americans I am afraid to say. As a salesman, he came across as genuinely enthusiasic about the Lexus product. Really enjoyed watching that - thanks!
  3. Saw this on AutoTrader - looks a good one, not cheap but looks good. I have no connection with the trade seller. http://www.autotrader.co.uk/classified/advert/201706126368137?model=LS 400&sort=distance&radius=1500&onesearchad=Used&make=LEXUS&postcode=ct147th&advertising-location=at_cars&page=1
  4. Looks really good. Keep us updated on how you find it. That looks a good buy for the money.
  5. Could not have put it better myself! I found it harder than expected to stick to the speed limits today - it drives so smoothly.
  6. I did arrive but my phone was dead - went to the top car park near M &S - it was very busy so I presumed you must have met in another location. I did park next to a Lexus - an RX! I searched the top car park but as there were only three of you then I might have missed you! Never mind - the lad got some Lego and I had a really good drive up and down to Deal. My lad found three Mercs parked side by side - he said they must be having a meet instead! LOL! The top car park was busy ... damn phone!
  7. Yes - it will be good from a main dealer - yes you pay a premium but you get a good warranty and peace of mind. I am very envious!
  8. Did not see that episode - try to get it on YouTube.
  9. Will take a look - must admit I would not have bothered as I had the same opinion (biased to be honest) as you Mike.
  10. Let us know how you get on! Not sure you will be able to see the filler pipe, but good luck anyway.
  11. I was told, admittedly by the Mitsubishi manager, that the L200 pick-up would be able to stand similiar treatment - they are still the best selling pick-up in the UK I believe. Still, credit to the Toyota, it did take some hammer. Would a Land Rover / Range Rover fair so well? Anyone out there want to try? Make a good short film ........ very short in my opinion!
  12. And a superb LS400!
  13. I only sat in a friend's 2003 Range Rover the other day, and I could not believe how much it had seemed to age - very tatty - not sure how abused it had been before he aquired it but I was unimpressed to say the least.
  14. I may be able to make it! Would love to see some of these famous ISF's again.
  15. Let us know what you get? Only disadvantage is extra road tax, insurance and servicing. I bought a Renault Kangoo - very practical but not reliable. Out of interest, was the trailer going to be used to cart stuff to the dump? In our area you can't take a van to the municipal dump. You are also restricted on the size of trailer you can take - they even have a man with a measuring stick! I know people who have bought a small people carrier or Vauxhall Agila type vehicle, lined with ply to ferry stuff to the tip. Just another idea. .
  16. You could buy a small van for that! Is it worth it just for a small trailer?
  17. Sorry I will not be able to make it - family commitments.
  18. Still can't access the photos?
  19. Wow! I can't wait to see which RX you get Rayaan!
  20. NX450H? Where does this information come from? Do you have any proof?
  21. Your insurance company may not pay out on a claim if they have to come and examine the car after an accident.
  22. Really sorry for you Martin, after reading this thread. You were so excited and pleased when you bought the car. The fact that you got a full refund from the dealer is the only bonus, as you are not too much out of pocket. Lexus cars are complicated and if you are (VERY) unlucky then the costs spiral to the extent it can write-off the car. Thank goodness this happened so soon, as had the warranty expired you would be stuffed! My gut feeling would be to get a LS430, but has you had a bad experience with one, I understand your reluctance. There are basically two options, as I see it, if you want another GS450H. You will need to buy one with a Lexus warranty - that way you will have peace of mind. But that will cost a lot more. Or go again for the "cheap" end of the market but be prepared to risk the money you have paid. It is a balancing act, but at the luxury end of the market you are much better off buying an old Lexus than a Merc, IMHO. My friends Peugeot has just cost £1,400 AND it is still not working - goes back today! If you have the time, knowledge (from this wonderful forum!) and patience, they can be run at a reasonable cost. Your problem is that it is your daily car and having it off the road is real pain. I would be interested to hear your thoughts after some reflection. Going as cheap as possible, expecting the worst and hoping for the best is one option. The other is spending a lot more for one with a warranty. Good luck with your search Martin.
  23. Second-hand! I knew it! I was teasing about new, because in one of your posts you said you would not buy another new car! That solves one puzzle but creates others ............ Does anyone know if Rayaan's has any dogs? Do you have any dogs? Pets ...... not duff cars! ISF ..... no not his style me thinks .... wasted in the Yorkshire Dales anyway. Need more information .................. two weeks to interrogate him! I have missed my vocation!
