  1. It is a not well known but the LS 400 was designed with the capability to repair itself. There are numerous examples posted on this forum to confirm this.
  2. Super photos! I love the Datsun! My neighbour had one, said it went like stink.
  3. I am led to believe the dealers get paid by the manufacturer for registering cars - over £1,000 for a Mitsubishi 15 years ago. Large companies, like Nat West Bank, buy in large numbers for their managers. The discount is very large. After just 6 months they trade-in for a new one. The value of the trade-in is sometimes more than they originally paid. They can claim back the tax. Poor old Joe Public effectively subsidies these deals. It is a way of registering more cars and keeping the sales figures up in comparison with the opposition. Whether this is still the case others on here might have more up-to-date information.
  4. A great write-up! I have shared some of those cars and agree with your comments. I find it interesting that very few Japanese cars, people have owned, are given a bad write-up. My old Toyota Carina (1974) in the end only died of rust - which was very common in the 1970's. The engine was still strong with 130,000 ona 1.6.
  5. They are surprisingly long, and will often stick out more than you would like.
  6. Hugh - I had no idea! My fuel filler on my Nitsubishi is on the left - the LS 400 is on the right. I have to think carefully just before I enter the petrol station. I will KNOW now! Brilliant! Having said that, one day I still might put the wrong fuel (Diesel/Petrol) in!
  7. Having owned an LS 400 for a combined 3 years, I still find things I did not know. Found the coin holder a few months back - it had 5 x £1 coins still in it from the previous owner!
  8. That sounds fantastic! Will try and sell the kids on EBay and then we will be off!
  9. I would like to do the NC500 around Scotland in my LS 400, take a few days doing it slowly!
  10. We may sound like wittering old men, but you are so right - they are fantastic cars. I have been using mine to take my daughter to work, as her car is poorly. The 34 mile round trip is an absolute pleasure - even at rush hour on our congested roads! I don't have LPG - but I do not mind paying a bit extra in fuel for such a wonderful ride. You must be doing cartwheels! So you can get a tow bar for a MK IV? I thought they were not available?
  11. You are easily pleased!
  12. Where it gets silly then I would agree, but most plates that are altered are still readable. Today I did see a BMW X5 with hand script letters an numbers - illegal of course.
  13. Have you ever been stopped by Plod for your number plate?
  14. Yes that looks just what I am after........ I think???? Love the chrome - I am not keen on white or black wheels, must be an age thing! LOL
  15. Really need to get mine done, as it spoils the look of the car IMO. Can they get them back to stock or do you have to compromise on colour? I would not want grey but the original finish as near as possible.
  16. Thanks for that - a good honest comparison. The RX3 still seems a great car to me. Looking forward to hearing updates on how you find living with the car. My experience is that a good car takes time to get into your blood. I have never gone "Wow!" when I first get another car, but after a period of ownership you really begin to understand its qualities - this is particularly the case with the LS 400.
  17. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/222555156740 Saw this and thought what A LOVELY looking car. Anyone tempted?
