  1. Yes a supplimentary oil cooler was mentioned on a post here.
  2. Not keen on heights .... that is why I live in a bungalow. Lazy builder he was ....... ran out of bricks and said ........... bung a low roof on it!
  3. Yes ..... I am afraid I am! Read TOP GEAR magazine in Sainsburys today (too tight to buy it!) And they were testing probably the very last V8's being manufactured. Corvette, Maserati BUT Lexus LC500 WAS the best! Would love that 5 litre V8 ....... but NOT in an ISF!
  4. I am now convinced that ISF owner are................... how can I put this without offending anyone.......................
  5. The ISF crowd are a strange lot! Get an LS400 instead!
  6. I want to get a tow bar fitted to my 2004 RX300. I have read various posts on here which have made me a bit twitchy! 1) Fitting WITHOUT cutting the rear valance. 2) 12S plug wiring problems 3) Tow Bar that fouls the spare wheel. 4) Supplimentary cooling fan. I do not mind travelling for a good job - any recommendations/experience of certain makes of tow bar or fitters? Considering using Trident Tailers in Maidstone. Any advice and what to specifically ask for would be most appreciated - as I wish to tow my caravan
  7. Could not agree more.
  8. To be honest Steve I tried different combinations from the VERSION code. I think I used the first 5 characters but I tried different combinations - yes it is not that clear. Can't remember eventually what worked but was pleased to read the service history, which explained what had been done at the service. Mine was called the Essential service at Toyota Listers in Grantham.
  9. Journeys over 10 miles long on A roads - 27 mpg. Motorway 29-31 mpg. Town, very short runs, less than 1 mile, 20 mpg. Average around 25 mpg overall. Worth every penny but GAS is much cheaper if you are doing average mileage around 12,000 per year or more. See RX forum: Sorcerer http://www.lexusownersclub.co.uk/forum/profile/56031-sorcerer/ for Petrol/Hybrid/LPG comparison.
  10. Just registered my RX. Recent service history shown. Had new rear discs and pads at 51,654 miles. Great tip thanks! You Google My Lexus and register - you will need your V5 registration document. A bit of a faff getting the details correct. It will even show Toyota servicing as well as Lexus.
  11. That is interesting, I still stall my diesel Mitsubishi Grandis on occasions. It is a very good car overall - tows my caravan really well - 7 seats - economical approx 40 mpg - 28mpg towing. BUT .............. I have never really enjoy driving it. I would often take my old petrol Mitsubishi Space Wagon out rather than the Grandis. Had a diesel Octavia, which was a good drive, but I have never really taken to this car. Now I have the RX300, I can see it being used even less. The RX is such a lovely car to drive, more power than I expected and it handles really well for such a big 4x4. No regrets - so far - buying it.
  12. If I had that shimmy I would not want to lose it!
  13. It is hard to argue against what you say. However, owning a car for some people is a bit more complicated.
  14. It is the future but at quite a cost. I am starting to get a bit twitchy when it comes to spending lots of money on a car. My main concern is that I could spend £15,000 on a second-hand car and it could end up being a lemon. I now like the idea of spending less on the purchase and more on running a good car. I have just bought a 2004 RX300. I honestly could not be more pleased with it had it been new. I could have bought a brand new Dacia Sandero - without aircon / radio etc. and it would be much cheaper to run than the RX. Sorry, but as far as I am concerned the RX wins! To go back to your question - if money was no object - yes I would probably try out a Tesla - but end up buying an LC500!
  15. Andrew, what is that on your dash? Is it a phone with a head-up display? Looks good?
  16. Regular contributors on here have a very great respect and appreciation of these cars and are happy to share their experience and knowledge. If you mention a 4.0 litre V8 to most people, £ signs come into their eyes - even more so if the car is over 10 years old. The LS 400 is not such a gamble and the fuel economy of 25 mpg overall is easily achievable, provided you are not driving mainly in the town. With my LS400 I try to only use it for runs that are more than 10 miles long, as I have another car, around 26/28 mpg is usual. On a motorway run from Kent to Bristol, 30+ mpg is normal at 70/80 mph. Once you have driven the car for a few miles you are more than happy to spend the extra on fuel - trust me.
  17. I fully endorse both posts. I had a Mk3 and now a Mk4 - very little difference, the Mk4's throttle is more sensitive - that is the only real difference I have found. These cars are a hidden gem. If you have to pay out on some mechanical issues, such as suspension, then the replacement parts (OEM) will last. The engineering on this particular Lexus model is first class.
  18. Lots of buttons ........................... that do many things! Agree with you Malc.
  19. That made me feel sad. Why have you decided to let her go?
  20. As a temporary fix, if you leave the aircon on it might not stall - but it will almost certainly be the throttle body that needs cleaning. There is a YouTube clip on how to do this if you fancy doing it yourself:-
  21. And a trailer to carry all the extra gear!
  22. Sounds like a bit more than tyre pressures. I would get it to a garage and let them take it for a test drive.
