i can't actually believe that this was a BBC documentary! Thinking back - I did know someone very similar to these guys. He was obsessed with image and that was reflected in the car he drove. They all seem very shallow. But in the early 90's I suppose that is what people thought. The best line was from a Personel Manager, "Company cars are not a game ...... they are a disease!" I wonder what the people in the film would think now?

The car is advertised as a 2017 model - but it is younger! Why would you try to sell a younger car as an older car? Does not look like a personalised plate either?

First MOT for the NX300h Visited Lexus Canterbury - very polite reception by Finley. Smooth handover when I picked the car up - washed and waxed as well. All part of the service plan. Chatted with Matt (sales) regarding used stock. As they hve transferred to the Steven Eagell Group they have aquired a large used stock from Maidstone. Bought a touch-up oen set (£9.99) as I have a small stone chip on one of the doors. No issues found - as one would expect from a Lexus! Wifey drove the NX home, while I wafted in the LS400! I took the long way home!

It is the most expensive car in their stock. The reviews seem very mixed!

Quite a few years ago, Mitsubishi brought out the Carisma model (no carisma at all actually!) and a local taxi firm bought them in. After some had covered big mileages (200,000 +) they went to trade them in. Mitsubishi bought them at a premium price to strip down to see how well they had run. I thought they did that before launching but apparently "real world driving" - especially hard driving as a taxi was a better test bed.

If you own a low mileage car and run it yourself to a high mileage you know if it has been looked after. Buying a high mileage car is more of a risk, as you don’t know how it has been driven or maintained.

Good call as far as I am concerned.

Out of interest Christian, did you take out a service plan with your local Lexus Dealer?

I am surprised the Mk3 RX beat the Mk1 NX for reliability - interesting.

They are lovely looking cars! If I were to go back to a saloon - the ES300h would be my first choice. Greens and Browns are coming back into fashion!

The LS 400 is now a very niche car - only people who KNOW how good they are would consider buying one. There are two ways to look at the car - a billiant V8 that will no longer be made or a dinosaur that is due for extinction. The move towards electric vehicles and the increases in road tax that will surely come will put many people off. I am pleased to say I have owned TWO of these cars and can now fully appreciate how good they are. I MUST do a review on here!

Still disappointing as you could probably have bought a used one at some point. When you buy a NEW car you pay a premium to get what you want.

The 1.2 / 1.3 (?) non turbo is a basic choice which I would prefer. I like the style of the Duster but the reliability would put me off.

Who diagnosed your issue? Have you checked the 12volt battery? Disconnect for 15 mins and try again. I expect you have already tried this but as this is your first post I thought it worth mentioning.
