  1. Ganzoom is a wonderful advocate for EV vehicles. What I find perplexing is his experience with Tesla reliability and yet he still praises the brand. Sorry Gang but I can't find the list of faults you posted but after owning a Lexus I am somewhat surprised that you have not traded the Tesla in!
  2. Sadly I do realise I have TWO dinosaurs on my drive, preparing for extinction. There is also an amphibian holding on by its shirt tails. The technology in the 400h is still amazing to me. You get the power of a wonderful V6 (please do not confuse this with a straight six) with the extra boost of immediate torque from the electric motors. BUT with the economy of a 2.0 / 1.6 litre petrol engine of the period (read carefully John!) ! The intermediate way forward, for most people, I believe is the PHEV with a decent battery range. For most users the car will be run on electric but can do longer journeys when required at a greater cost of course. Ultimately hydrogen powered trucks and vans will be the norm. along with fuel cell cars. COVID has shown that we do not need to travel quite as much as we thought. Good road planning with cycle lanes / electric bikes & tricycles (for us older generation who are not too steady on two wheels) and traffic free zones has the opportunity to revolutionize not only travel but play for children. I remember the days of carless streets where you could kick a ball and annoy the neighbours without fear of being squashed! The future is bright but NOT for my lovely steeds parked on my drive. I will enjoy them (in environmental guilt) for as long as they last or until they are taxed off the road.
  3. She looks fantastic Richard! You have inspired me to clean mine!
  4. I totally endorse this statement! Yes it may not have all the bells and whistles and fancy gadgets but it performs the main functions of a great car. Timeless looks, superb engineering, comfort, zap, reliability PLUS it brings a big smile to your face every time you drive it!
  5. I will look out for Chris Wood. I rarely go to live music but after all this COVID is sorted I would like to go to a few folk related events.
  6. Congratulations! Let us all know your initial thoughts once you have run it for a few days.
  7. Well it looked stunning to be honest. I was a bit shocked to find out it had so many miles on the clock. I think the owner must have put quite a bit of time and money into the car. It really did look good, a credit to him.
  8. W919VOG - just passed its MOT it has 261,000 miles on the clock! Wow! Wish I had taken a photo!
  9. Spotted a superb looking LS 400 W reg in that lovely metallic jade green (Sorry can't remember name of actual colour) passed my drive just as I was pulling out. Chased the poor guy to the golf course and had a very brief word as there was traffic coming. He said he has two! Not sure if he meant LS 400's or two Lexus cars. It looked a beauty! Mature chap with a beard! Was it you?
  10. I enjoy all sorts of music but I do like a story! I LOVE listening to the folk singers, The Roaring Trowmen They have only produced two albums and both are excellent! have a listen
  11. As they say in "Dragon's Den" .............. "I'm out!"
  12. I enjoy following threads and discussions but I am afraid I am completely lost with your argument Alan. You are a Lexus enthusiast and an established member. Warnings about rogue dealers in Lexus cars should ring alarm bells. If you choose to ignore advice and end up buying from such a dealer it is your own fault. But please do not try to defend the indefensible. I am more than pleased with the advice and warnings I have received from members of this club. Ignorance can cost you dearly.
  13. Wow! Technology is wonderful BUT ........ it explains why the internet keeps sending me adverts for Viagra? How do they KNOW? It must be an APP on my phone I am not aware of!
  14. That to me sums up a good warranty - hopefully not needed but reassuring / peace of mind if you do.
  15. Bought my RX 400 h carpets, an early Christmas present! Rubber protection mats!
  16. Obviously depending on how much mileage you do a year, the RX 300's ONLY downside is the fuel consumption - Road Tax is about the same - £295 vs £320 Out of interest Andy why black leather?
  17. Or an RX 300 and save £2800 for fuel!
  18. Thanks Colin that explains it clearly. Hence why the handbook (yes John!) says do not leave the car in B or economy will suffer!
  19. That is the essence of owning a Lexus. On first acquaintance you think, "Yes, it's good but not stunning - it does what it says on the tin." But after owning the vehicle for a few months/years you begin to fully appreciate the quality and engineering. Bells and Whistles, at my age (yes you youngsters have this to come!) do not float my boat. But neat design, coupled with excellent engineering and quality begins to be fully appreciated as time of ownership goes by. And I am talking about a 1998 LS 400!
  20. I understand what Herbie means but surely the brakes would have been put down as an advisory, knowing they would not last a full service interval. I was warned about brake pads about brake pads and discs at MOT time and had them changed long before the service was due. Profit margins and cost cutting seem to be more important than customer safety or satisfaction here. Did you escalate your issue with their senior management? It seems like a bit of sharp practice by one salesperson. If the management back him up then there is a culture issue at that dealership. Forums like this are very useful sources of information on dealerships. We all can gain from others bad experiences. I hope they are able to come to an agreement over the brake issues. Sales people promise the world until they they get your money!
  21. Not something you would expect from a Lexus dealer. After buying a car from a main dealer, I would not expect to have to check the brake pads for wear. One must question the MOT tester here. This does not inspire confidence.
  22. I had a similar question regarding the "B" braking on the transmission of my 400 h. Does using B going downhill increase regenerative braking? Consensus of opinion was that it will only regenerate to a maximum the traction battery will take. Correct me please Colin, if I have got this wrong.
  23. Sorry it is American but it illustrates a point!
