  1. They are cracking cars. The ONLY downside is the relatively high fuel consumption. If you can live with that they are a joy to own.
  2. Yes, the Honest John one. I looked that up. Only a very small mention about software not working properly for the infotainment system - claiming an over-the-air fix will solve it! They have kept the major problems quiet? Will check other motoring sites and report back!
  3. Very interesting! Has anyone seen anything about this in the motoring press?
  4. I have posted about this before somewhere on the forum John. An electrical issue that fixed itself. My brain is a bit fuzzy at present so can’t remember exactly but there have been a number of contributions on this subject to prove the point!
  5. People don’t believe you BUT it is true! LS400’s DO repair themselves!
  6. I am not confident to cut away the old struts to fit new ones. The ones on the LS 400 were easy to take out and replace but the RX ones seem different. I am not being tight, just cautious, as I don’t want to mess it up - my practical skills regarding cars, is very limited. I could drill a hole with some confidence. You only open the bonnet once a week. Just another solution to Steve’s pole!
  7. There is a serious side to what Steve has posted. I repla ced my LS400 bonnet struts buying from SGS. The strut on my RX300 is weak. I have. Thought of a solution, similar to Steve’s pole suggestion BUT WILL IT WORK? Is is possible to drill a small hole in the silver rod and place a split pin in it to stop it dropping? I realise you can’t / should not drill the pressurised damper! But can you safely drill the silver rod (sorry unsure of the correct term) this would be a very cheap and very practical solution.
  8. Very interesting thread and well done for completing the work successfully!
  9. Some surprising results. ID3 came 2nd! Pity it does not actually work!
  10. That seems to be a common thread on this site. Age related no doubt but still a bit mystifying to me. Reliability, refinement, longevity, comfort would all come before - whether my Nokia 3310 would connect to the CD player.
  11. A very interesting thread chaps. Had not used my RX300 for ........... a while ............ battery flat. Used a smart charger overnight - now shows fully charged. If the battery will not fully charge then I would suspect it is on its way out and change it. If I leave my cars for more than a week somewhere other than home, I will buy a jump starter as has been suggested.
  12. Swapped the cars on the drive, nothing else to do!
  13. Who would have thought dazzle camouflage from WW1 would come back? It does make it difficult to fully see the lines of the car.
  14. I really like the Sportscross
  15. Why on earth would a country like Iceland, with all its fish stocks, buy scallops from Argentina? The world has gone crazy!
  16. Sorry I said what I did! Keep us posted. I am gutted for you.
  17. Some progress then. I will keep my fingers crossed for you!
