  1. That now looks brand new! Compared with the cost of upgrading to a new car, it is good value.
  2. Anything wet with alcohol. I tend not to drink too much.... as I spill most of it!
  3. It is a compromise between size (inside), fuel consumption and comfort. I would find the UX, for example, too small. The difference in fuel consumption between the RX and NX does not appear to be that far apart. So my initial choice would be the RX ..... but I would never say never!
  4. This has been a very interesting and funny thread to read. It is fascinating to read what features people like / miss / want / from their cars. The BIG worry I have when buying a car is: "Am I going to be disappointed?" All the research and a test drives, does not fully prepare you for actual ownership. Lexus cars are initially underwhelming on first acquaintance. The longer you own them the more you seem to appreciate the cars. Regarding equipment / accessories; I am convinced there is a big difference in owner expectation, depending on your age. Younger Lexus owners require more tech - especially when it comes to playing music and phone compatibility. For older owners (like me!) what was once very important, is now no longer a big issue. There are features on my 1998 LS 400 that I am sure I do not use - sunroof / heated seats. My first priority, in buying a car, is reliability. An unreliable car would drive me crackers (try owning an old Ford!). Comfort and build quality would come second. What features do I like? ABS braking Air bags Automatic Transmission - Well I am also sold on automatics, provided they have a powerful engine. Air conditioning / heater – we forget that not many cars had these years ago Reversing sensors Radio / CD player Power Steering Trip computer Electric windows Electric door mirrors Remote petrol cap Folding rear seats flat Heated rear window ************************** What features could I live without? I am not rubbishing these features, JUST saying I could forgo them. Fast 0-60 times Lane departure / Radar cruise / Pre-crash system Self-parking gismo. Cruise control (It would not be a hardship to be without this feature here in the UK) Heated seats (I forget to put mine on in the winter! – Though they are lovely!) TPMS – Tyre pressure monitor (something else to go wrong) Air suspension Phone connectivity (answering phones, even hands-free I think is a real distraction from driving) Electric tailgate Electric adjustable seats and steering Sunroof Headlight washers Rear camera Navigation system (Use Tim Tim) Rear side blinds Handbook – complete waste of time! Too long to read! Just post on here if you want to know anything! (*)
  5. You could set Position 3 to push back your seat fully to allow easy access and exit of the vehicle? Just a thought?
  6. Yes, but only when I drink Ghost Ship Ale. Drives my wife crackers!
  7. I have a 2004 RX 300 and a 2008 400h, neither car, so far, suffers from leaks. Both cars give a comfortable ride for an SUV. My neighbour commented on how comfortable the 400h was. He drives a VW Passat. Perceived comfort is a personal thing.
  8. John Glenn is the only one I remember.
  9. I have noticed a vibration through the seat on my 400h. Have you tried (when it is safe to do so) slipping the gear into neutral? Is the vibration still there? Tyres are often a cause when they wear. My tyres are due to be changed as they are over 5 years old and showing signs of grazing on the rears. Years ago I had a similiar problem with a car and changed all four tyres. They did not need changing as they had plenty of tread but was recommended to try it. Unfortunately it did not solve the problem. If your tyres are fairly well worn or have been on the car sometime, I would change them. That is what I am going to do with mine. Will update if it cures the problem.
  10. Yes brilliant! You may be interested in this:- https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCMQv_O7i_iXMFBSbtolnpjA/videos An interesting story how it started, with the original puppets being used.
  11. I predict we will re-join the EU with a trade agreement, when a new generation takes over governing the country. Probably not in my lifetime. Do you mean, John, that people in Scotland will have to pay taxes if they buy a car in England after independence?
  12. That is the colour combination I would choose! It has HUD? Is the car an import? I have never seen that colour for sale - it is very similar to my LS 400. Yes I would have gone for that one! Sympathy Ken! Deep sympathy! That looks a cracker! Anyone on here bought it?
  13. Very sorry to hear that.
  14. It would appear to make sense to have a pure electric as a second car. Many households have two cars and where the second is used for short journeys it would appear to make practical / economic sense - running cost wise. There are good financial arguments for NOT buying an expensive car. The interesting thing is that most people set a budget for buying a car - whether new or second-hand. If your budget stretches to £11,600 you can buy a brand new Dacia or a 10 year old RX 450h. After the purchase it is just running costs (including depreciation and reliability). So if you had £11,600 to spend (cash!) on a SECOND car, what would you buy?
  15. The coupe is a lovely looking car. What mileage does it have on it Richard?
  16. £140 just to look at it? Seems a bit steep. I would consider going to an independent garage as it is out of warranty. Just my thoughts.
  17. We now have the best vacuum cleaner we have ever had. Having a Labrador that sheds hair faster than a barber, we purchased a Shark. Amazing how well it picks up dog hair and everything else. The only disadvantage is the collecting container is small and needs emptying frequently. We are looking for a cordless hand-held machine for small spillages.
  18. Nothing dreadful (apart from a BMW) but over the years my wife and I have have bought so many things we thought would radically change our lives for the better ............... they usually end up not being used e.g. Karcher Steam Cleaner - used twice!
  19. You will enjoy the car. If you have not had a hybrid before you are in for a few surprises - but do not worry!
  20. You may find the rear sensors are automatic and the front sensors need a switch to turn them on.
  21. Beige cloth interior - reminds me of James May! Will anyone admit to adding one of those green sun visors with your names in white lettering like "Gavin and Stacy" ?
  22. Interesting what "extras" could be fitted to cars in the 1960's - Radio - push button windscreen washers - seat belts - parking light - wing mirrors. there must be more?
