  1. Dennis, Mileage is not as important as condition and service history. If the car does have a full Lexus service history and is in good condition I would certainly consider it at the price. Used cars have increased greatly in price since 2020 - all used vehicles appear expensive to me.
  2. To be fair Malc there has been no issues apart from consumables. The only "repair" I have had done was the parking brake mechanism. I was really talking about long term reliability - but as you have stated before, it will probably see me out!
  3. A bit heavy for me Boomer!
  4. Lexus cars do mend themselves sometimes!
  5. The first question to ask yourself is - can you afford to run the Jag throughout the year? If not a SORN for 6 months will help a little. The answer may be yes but other factors muddy the waters. The RX is a very practical car, compared to the Jag. Would you be able to live your lifestyle with just the Jag? The ongoing costs of the Jaguar might make you feel uneasy, even if you can afford it. You need to weigh all these ponderables and either let your head rule your heart or the other way round! I would be interested to know what you decide and why! I have a similar "problem" with my LS400. I don't really need to run two cars. I do a low mileage in the LS for the cost of insurance and road tax. Whenever I drive it - I do not wish to part with it. I will never be able to get another example like it. As I rely on garages to maintain my cars, the crunch will come when I need to decide whether to spend money on the old girl or say goodbye. As people have stated, the LS 400 is getting on in years and there must come a time when it gets to the point that they are either too expensive to fix or can't be fixed. If I had to make a choice between my NX300h and the LS - the NX would win for many sensible reasons. They main ones being practicality and reliability.
  6. I believe they were Dealer fitted. Mine only has 2 sensors at the rear.
  7. I LOVE Ghost Ship! But sadly it gives me terrible wind and rthe wife has banned me drinking it. I am on the wagon for November but am stocking up with Abbot Ale!
  8. A good itch to scratch. I would want to see the car first - a long way to travel unless you want a day out in Norwich!
  9. Welcome Mike. Which Lexus model do you have?
  10. It is perfectly reasonable and possible to run these cars fairly cheaply. I presume you know about swapping the radiator (100,000 mils?)?
  11. Yes, on my LS400. Also had them on previous car. I considered them good value overall. I don't drive enthusiastically, so can't comment on the handling. Decent wear intervals - depending on price, would have them again
  12. There is no denying they are lovely cars to sit in. The wait for an expensive repair to occur would drive me mad!
  13. There will be many buyers out there who have know idea about the thefts and insurance hikes. I doubt a Lexus salesman will warn them!
  14. I am on my 5th Lexus. The first four were all older cars (all well over 10 years old!) The quality and reliability of these cars has been exceptional. When it came to choosing my retirement car (5th Lexus) the make was a no brainer. I am not saying Lexus cars outstrip other makes on equipment but on build quality and reliability they must be near the top. I agree with Gray, it depends on how a vehicle has been looked after. Yes, you can be unlucky to buy a Lexus Lemon. The chances are slim. These cars are complicated mechanical and electrical devices and things will go wrong at times. Rarely do you get a series of issues. Older cars do wear out but I would put my own money on a Lexus or Toyota to give hastle free motoring. The only caveat would be if you needed a particular type of vehicle that is not available as a Toyota or Lexus.
  15. Had the same message - but it went off. Will give them all a quick clean.
  16. LS400 - 31 mpg RX300 - 27mpg RX400h - 37 mpg NX300h - 54 mpg
  17. Those prices are scary! Have you searched for a firm that specialises in aircons? Hopefully someone on here might be able to suggest somewhere?
  18. There would appear to be a case of having an EV for shorter journeys and a hybrid for longer trips, provided you need two cars. The other alternative might be to own one EV and hire a hybruis for holidays. The costing would need to be worked out but it is aa posible option.
  19. Autoglym works really well especially on rubber seals.
  20. Very surprised Mini is third?
  21. When they do go wrong, the LS400 will often repair itself!
  22. To the LS400 out this afternoon to discover "Left Front Door Open" warning. Got out and closed door. Still the message showed. Next the electric windows would not operate on the driver controls. After my short journey, Steering wheel motors became inoperative! The steering wheel would not retract. Deep breaths to allow thinking. USE THE MAGIC TRICK! Disconnected battery earth for 10 minutes. Reconnect - all working except VSC light - that went out after a short while. Amazing what electronic gremlins show up and sorted with a simple reboot.
