  3. Yes of course, but even the LS 400 does not enjoy pot holes! All I am saying is that my RX cars are more comfortable than I expected from a large SUV. Ride / handling is a compromise and I feel Lexus have got this just right in these two cars. As I have stated, I have no experience of riding in or driving a 450h.
  4. I wonder if people read that the suspension is hard then they think it is? Herbie's experience of some very smooth cars and his two RX models, coupled with a bad back, seems to contradict this idea that the ride is harsh. I have never been in a 450h but was wondering how people, who have owned a RX400h and a RX 450h, compare the ride comfort? I find both the RX 300 and RX 400h very comfortable - particularly on a rough dirt track.
  5. CORRECT! Which THREE actors said these lines? (Hard one)
  6. "I want no one on this road without my permission!" "Not even me sir?" "Especially YOU Joe!" Also from the same film "Tell those shmucks to do this right and I'll meet them in Eindhoven! And don't forget to say please!"
  7. That was my initial reaction, especially as it has a personal registration. The MOT history did put me off. It may have belonged to someone who was ill / dead / given up driving a year ago and it has been stood in their drive and they have now decided to sell. The dealer may know the background story. If it is a SE-L RX300 then it will have air suspension. I agree Vlad it does look a peach. I am trying to be cautious for the potential purchaser.
  8. Yes it is a well known issue when the cars get older that can be expensive. If you search through the threads you will see it mentioned quite a bit. The important thing is that to correct can be very expensive. Some members with air suspension have had no issues. It is an issue though.
  9. It is a problem that will only be addressed when someone id killed sadly.
  10. I have PM'd you. https://www.check-mot.service.gov.uk/?_ga=2.156381432.2133495249.1621970292-399822042.1613999592
  11. Go to the forums tab and click on RX300 and scroll looking for items on RX 300. The link below mentions air-suspension problems - There are other threads, you should read as many as possible.
  12. As an addition I have just had rear sensors fitted to my RX 300 for £180 including colour coded matching.
  13. If you have the patience read the RX forum regarding RX 300. They are very good cars, I still have one but not for long! The air suspension can be a weakness when they get older. You also need to watch for corrosion on the rear sub-frame by extracting the spare wheel and checking underneath. If it has been well serviced and looked after they are cracking cars.
  14. Just checked the Government site - this is illegal. Their advert is false!
  15. Saw this on Fleabay and wonder if it is correct? Do you not need insurance for one of these? Not to mention tax - even if it is 0% ? https://www.ebay.co.uk/i/293766269122?campaign-id=90001&run-date=20210527023000&templateId=0bff632b-c44d-4b26-aa5d-5d92d3981176&templateVersion=530&co=14500&placement-type=mfe.piyi1v2P&user-id=43058023251&instance=1622107800&site-id=3&trackingCode=TE79002_T_ALL_CT1&placement-type-name=mfe.piyi1v2P&mfe-Id=101311&mkevt=1&mkpid=2&emsid=0&mkcid=8&bu=43058023251&osub=1370c95897ab7ebc2e45b047891750d0%7ETE79002_T_ALL_CT1&segname=TE79002_T_ALL_CT1&crd=20210527023000&ch=osgood&sojTags=osub%3Dosub%2Csegname%3Dsegname%2Ccrd%3Dcrd%2Cch%3Dch%2Cchnl%3Dmkcid
  16. One man's junk is another man's treasure. One tester's fail is another tester's pass! Without seeing the chip it is hard to known how "bad" it is. Keep us updated Paul.
  17. I really do hope you get the car Paul and it meets your expectations. I have not purchased any of my cars from a Lexus dealer. I travelled to Bristol to purchase my 400h from an independent dealer. I like to take the wife as she has a keen eye for detail, as I tend to just get excited if it looks good! I did see wear and tear issues and missed a couple as well. However, overall I appreciated that the car was 12 years old. I accepted that unless the car was a complete dog, I would not be able to travel back to the dealers easily - so I decided I might have to cover the costs of some extra items that needed doing. I decided to change the tyres as they were grazing due to age. Your situation is different as you are paying, I presume, top dollar from a Lexus dealer. I must be honest, I would be far more "anxious" if I felt I was paying a very large sum for a vehicle. Please let us know how you get on. I would presume, hand on heart, that if a main Lexus dealer was selling a 10 year old car, then it would not be a complete wreck - or am I being naive?
  18. Waxoyl properly applied will repel moisture and does not go hard. I experimented with a piece of bare sheet metal, coating one half with Waxoyl and leaving the other bare. After just a few days the difference was noticeable. After 3 months there was no rust on the coated part. My wife made me throw it away, otherwise the test would have been longer. What it will not do, is prevent rust from the inside. If water gets into sills for example - they will rust from the inside out. I sprayed a two-year old Mitsubishi Galant (1982) with Waxoyl - messy job but it kept it free from rust for many years. The only rust that came through was on the door seams. I took off the sill plate and poured it into the sill cavity, thinned down with white spirit. The only downside was the stink of white spirit for about two months! I have had my LS 400 coated by a garage but if you do it yourself, make sure you cover the exhaust with a cloth, otherwise your lovely ISF could become a bonfire. Yes I would recommend this product!
  19. Don't spoil it John! The economic vagaries of running a car are very complicated. If you are going to spend £40K - it makes sense to buy a car that costs less than a gallon of fuel to travel 150 miles?
  20. That puts the saving into perspective! The psychological saving is even more!
