  1. I would like to see an EV6 in the flesh. Sorry if this question has already been answered but are all electric vehicles exempt from the £40.000 extra luxury road tax?
  2. Welcome to the Club Roger. From what you have said you have covered most of the points you need to be concerned about. Others on here who own an NX will be able to give you further information. Pan roofs mean it is not advisable to fit roof bars is the consensus - not impossible but with many caveats. Car registered after 1st April 2017, which have a list price over £40,000, mean you have to pay extra road tax for the first five years after registration. Others on here may correct me. Interior trims seam to be mainly black so you may have to hunt a different colour down. Colin Barber has some old price lists that I am sure he would share with you if that helps. I have attached 2016/17 price lists originally from Colin. Regarding the CVT box - they do not run on rubber bands! They are different from an ordinary auto box but as you describe yourself as a steady driver, I think you will find the seamless gear changes a delight - the test drive for a whole day will confirm if you like it. I am sure others will be along to add more than I can. The NX would appear to be very reliable with no major issues throughout the range. Good luck with your search.
  3. Welcome to the club Allan. You will find us a friendly bunch! Members here have a wealth of knowledge and information to give you the best possible owner experience with your Lexus NX. Did you buy new? Why did you choose a Lexus? What were you driving before? Photos are always welcome on here!
  4. Quite a few things seem more expensive "Down South!"
  5. The specification for the one in the advert seems quite high.
  6. Check the dates of the posts - 2005
  7. What Lexus cars do your future in laws have? The best way to calm your concerns would be to buy from a Lexus dealer with a warranty. Anywhere else you will be taking the risk as independent warranties are worth about as much as a Weimar Republic Deutsche Mark! Test driving a Lexus is not the same as owning one - owning is MUCH better!
  8. Thank you James for such a comprehensive post! I love these owning experience tales. Being able to do things yourself really makes a big difference to the cost of ownership - hence why my main concern is reliability above all - and the fact of the inconvenience of having the car off the road for repairs. A cracking story thank you. IF ........IF I was to go away from Lexus an Auris or Corolla hybrid estate would be my choice.
  9. How reliable was the Volvo? Did you spend much on it repair wise? Was it durable? I had a 240 GLE and it was very disappointing to be honest.
  10. Lexus Cheltenham - looks a peach. Does the Premier have air suspension?
  11. Cracking Nick! Really glad you are pleased. I did wonder if you would find the engine underpowered compared with your 450h.
  12. I agree Paul. I thought it was expensive until I saw the breakdown. Repairs can appear expensive but compared with depreciation can be quite reasonable. Newer cars should not need major maintenance and that is what you pay for when buying newish. The longer you keep a car, the depreciation is spread over a period to the point where the car effectively no longer depreciates in value - but on going maintenance will increase. I am sure there is graph somewhere which shows the optimum ownership length.
  13. That is very handy to know - thank you for the future!
  14. Approx. £800 - Parking brake kit - rear discs and pads. Hopefully no more wear & tear items for a while yet I hope. Most of the cost was labour.
  15. A full kit from Halfords. I have bought one for the RX as the lights are starting to mist. I have not used it yet but it includes the sealant to protect it afterwards. £10! I have done it before with T-Cut which worked really well. If they are bad you will need to use the wet and dry provided. Hope this helps. https://www.amazon.co.uk/Turtle-Wax-51768-Headlight-Brightness/dp/B004XZQF8O/ref=asc_df_B004XZQF8O/?tag=googshopuk-21&linkCode=df0&hvadid=310493449173&hvpos=&hvnetw=g&hvrand=12751847075575265197&hvpone=&hvptwo=&hvqmt=&hvdev=c&hvdvcmdl=&hvlocint=&hvlocphy=1007049&hvtargid=pla-683306416444&psc=1&th=1&psc=1
  16. Better than anyone else ............ built as the best! LEXUS LS 400!
  17. For me it would depend on, how much I bought the car for, how long I have had the car and its overall condition and mileage. I would consider taking it to a specialist independent - I believe Roy of the Rovers has a list of garages recommended by members. Give him a PM, but I am sure he will see this post!
  18. Reading your comments it makes me feel very privileged to be owning my LS 400 - even after a hefty MOT bill.
  19. It will be interesting to see the next motoring revolution take hold, which could bring in new players like Tesla. Servicing will be dramatically different and should be much cheaper.
  20. I thought they were selling an Lexus i-pad? Apart from the electric folding seats, there was not much about the car itself. Suppose we will have to wait for Saturday - Tomorrow! One more BIG sleep! Am I excited? Not as much as Christmas!
