  1. Herbie suggested disconnecting the battery - it worked for me! Thanks anyway.
  2. Herbie you are a STAR! Yes everything reset and working! I had forgotten about disconnecting the battery, as I have read this before but when things go wrong you tend to clutch at straws or fuses! Thank you! Well worth remembering. The old girl did talk to me for about three minutes, making all sorts of noises but all seems fine.
  3. Kieran, I know you have quite a list - but did you manage to fix the door window switches problem? I have a similar issue.
  4. Just discovered central locking and seat settings not working, so it may be a fuse? I have checked P RR Door and D RR Door both 20A and they have not blown. Have I checked the correct fuse for the driver's door switches? Any other fuses I need to check? The Drivers window switch works the drivers window? Confused to say the least. Any help would be appreciated.
  5. Just discovered central locking and seat settings not working, so it may be a fuse!
  6. Driver's controls not working to raise / lower windows. I have searched the forum for this issue but only found one concerning an IS 300h. I tried opening and closing the window from the passenger switch and holding it up and down for 6 seconds but no luck. I have checked the manual John! Nothing about resetting the window switches. Am I doing the reset right for the LS 400? I put all the windows down and left the car for an hour or so. No idea what I have done but they would not raise. Actually managed to get the drivers window to work but non of the others on the drivers switch - only on the corresponding door switch. Meant to be going away in her tomorrow! Any thoughts or suggestions would be most appreciated. Thank you.
  7. As Malc says living by the sea is not an issue. It is how the car has been treated / used that is important. Very rusty cars underneath might suggest it has been in deep water / flooded at some point. Or possibly kept on long grass. It is very hard to know what a used car has been through. As Steve says, it will come with consumer rights and these cars are now starting to get long in the tooth. I am possibly being over cautious. I like the wood steering wheel and gear knob.
  8. It was registered in the West of England - Bristol.
  9. To be fair the car does look in good condition for the money. Possibly I am being over cautious. The problem being I had an old 2004 RX300 that was immaculate underneath. It just depends where and how the vehicle has been kept.
  10. Let's say that they might conveniently miss some advisories, if they have a tame tester?
  11. The corrosion issue with the fuel pipe would worry me. Others with more knowledge might have a different opinion. The MOT is due to run out, so it would be interesting to see what is mentioned on the next MOT. My concern would be that it will PASS with no advisories!
  12. That was probably because of the Mankini you were wearing, rather than the car!
  13. Cassettes and CD's seem so much simpler! (I have turned into my father!)
  14. Insurance for younger family members is a real headache. The premium goes down if they insure it themselves and add a parent as an additional driver - rather than the other way round. Owning a car in a lower insurance bracket (Aygo for example) and fitting a "black box" telematics thingy, all help to reduce premiums. Unless it is absolutely essential to learn to drive (living in the countryside) the advice is to hang ion until after University / 21 years of age before you take your test. Many youngsters do not have the same drive (pun intended) to pass their test. For me, and many of my contemporaries, it was a burning ambition to pass as soon as possible. In my day it was not considered very romantic to go to the cinema on a bus! How times and attitudes change. We would take every opportunity to get in the car for a drive. Now, when teenagers want a lift, it is a pain!
  15. If you get a "silly" quote, it is probably because they do not want to do it - or are not sure how to do it. Worth getting a second opinion if that is the case.
  16. Sorry Jenny not sure what you mean? Do you mean the main hybrid battery? A Photo would be useful.
  17. Fully agree! I tend to have the sunblind open in winter, as it lets more light into the car and makes it feel more airy.
  18. Lexus 450h - Second hand dealer mark-up seems to be around £4000.
  19. Possibly off the road for some reason? Missing 2017 MOT
  20. The ISF guys met up a while ago at Bluewater.
  21. Out of interest when did you buy your 400h? What mileage did it have when you bought it? What mileage does it have now?
  22. That is exactly what I would do ...... keep it!
