  1. Totally agree with that Malc. It does seem strange considering it is 1,000cc more but drag and weight are the main factors against the RX300.
  2. No took the RX 400h as we had the dog! The battery was around £130, so I did pay top dollar but was just so pleased to get off without worry.
  3. Thank you guys. I took off the battery but ended up having to do the "Window Trick" The memory would still not re-set. I checked the handbook (!) and I had done it correctly. I switched off the ignition and took out the key. Closed and opened the door - still nothing. Put the key in got to READY and made sure it was in park. I moved the seat to make sure the motors were working. Then the memory function worked! No idea why it would not to begin with. The main thing is that it has repaired itself AGAIN - very pleased - thank you for your help.
  4. I found my LS 400 had better fuel consumption overall than my RX 300 - around RX 22mpg - LS 25 mpg
  5. Reading Mark’s (m4rkw) holiday tale, I thought I would share mine. All packed, roof boot full, dog in the back – ready to set-off on holiday to the Cotswolds. Turn the key – nothing ………. Just lights! Battery flat. Jump started using then LS but decided not to risk a long trip with a dodgy battery. I had been using the car regularly. Phoned Lexus Canterbury. They had a battery in, but could not fit it until 4 pm! Decided to make my way there anyway. Lovely lady receptionist (I will try and find out her name) managed to get a new battery fitted immediately, so that we could get away. Excellent service! Only a couple of hiccups. The back hatch would not open. The receptionist knew the correct procedure to solve it! Only issue now is the Memory Seat positions do not work (?) Will try disconnecting the new battery for 10 mins. Does anyone have another suggestion? Thanks.
  6. 7 shillings was a lot of money then! John, how many bags of oats did you have to buy for your first horse?
  7. When I bought my first few gallons of petrol it was 35p a gallon. Very shortly after that it went to 50p during the fuel crisis!
  8. Anything mentioned in the handbook Brian? A cracking car you have there. It has been quite warm lately so that may be a factor?
  9. Flat reds are terrible for going pink! I had one that colour - lovely colour until it faded on the bonnet.
  10. Not just red Mercs John, many red metallic makes suffer - Toyota Carina for one.
  11. Interesting Malc, as My wheels are very poor. I decided to do them myself, as the cost of back to stock was going to be around £500. Someone on the forum did their GS wheels with Halfords paint. I have done one wheel and it looks much better than before. I used a BMW (shame on me I know) Titanium silver. Quite a bit of work for just one wheel but I have the time. Probably asking for the impossible but....... Does anyone know of a spray paint that has a chrome type finish?
  12. No, but he might see C3PO in gold!
  13. Thanks Paul, that is very useful information and reiterates Colin Barber's point.
  14. Are you suggesting that the steering setup from the factory may be at fault Colin? I have had cars (not Lexus) that steered to the left, it drove me crackers. I wonder how many NX owners are experiencing this?
  15. Lovely photos. What is the story behind the T-34 tank?
  16. Come on lads! You know the BEST Lexus was, and always will be the LS 400!
  17. Very interesting thread. Even after owning the 400h for a year, I find the technology fascinating. My battery indicator sometimes shows full after I have been driving for a while on main roads. I also find the car will run in EV mode for longer and at higher speeds if the battery is well charged. As in any car, a gentle right foot seems to afford the best economy. Getting around 30 mpg from a 3.3 V6 engine is more than acceptable to me.
  18. I still prefer paper maps but use a TOM TOM nearer the destination. Sat Navs give people no sense of direction. I am working on a road map that covers the garage floor. Basically to teach my 13 year old some UK geography.
  19. Sadly I will be ignoring some posts. You are right some people will not change but I do not like having opinion rammed down my throat as fact. Yes i am a bit cross with the way people's opinions are treated. Personally I try to be as forgiving as I can be, but sometimes one feels the need to make a stand. More than one member has done that already. I will continue to contribute but will refrain from commenting on some posts. This is the end of this issue as far as I am concerned.
  20. Really pleased the MRI went well Piers. I have the kit to do mine on the RX as they are getting a little glazed.
