  1. Not that bad. With a full service the bill came to around £750 IIRC.
  2. Fully agree with everything Malc says above. I had my parking brake done a year or so ago - yes expensive - but in 9 years, that is the only "repair" I have had to contend with.
  3. I presume you have given the sensors a good clean with plain water?
  4. Good luck, I hope it works out for you.
  5. The hybrid system and CVT gearbox lends itself to driving economically. After running the car for a few months this will come naturall. Driving a hybrid to get the "best" out of it does take practice. People who moan about the CVT gearbox and fuel consumption, tend to be heavy footed with the accelerator. The RX hybrids can shift if you need them to but as Phil (Mudguts) says, those opportunites are becoming less for the factors he states.
  6. You will of course get better mpg. 22 mpg for a RX300 to 30 mpg for the 400h.
  7. Speaking to someone who has just purchased a Lexus ES 300h. He has had three previous Jaguar cars. He said that the Lexus build quality is far better than all his previous Jags. His last Jag - a 2.0 diesel (Ithink?) had to have the DPF replaced at a cost of £3000! He loves the CVT box and seamless changes from electric to ICE.
  8. An unusual thread, but Anthony you have given me a few smiles! Thank you!
  9. That looks a peach Chris. Were you particularly looking for a Camry? Or did this just come up?
  10. Well done Chris! There are always more out there! Photos please after you take delivery!
  11. I would say not a good advert for the dealership! Something to consider is the original rwetail price of the car you are looking at. If it is over £40,000 new, then it will be in the luxury car tax band for 6(?) years.
  12. When I were a lad............ our family drove to Yugoslavia and back in a Ford Thames 15cwt ex-Rediffusion van with bus seats in the back and a home made roofrack! Happy Days Indeed!
  13. A short school run is a real killer to mpg in my experience.
  14. Does this cover the side airbags in the seats?
  15. You might wish to consider Lanoguard - it needs applying once a year but it has a very good reputation. Belt and braces?
  16. I have the NX300h, bought my roof bars from Lexus. However, regarding the roof box - unless you are using it every day and are concerned about style then consider a Halfords Exodus or similar. Not particularly easy to fit but does the job! My only recommendation would be to buy the largest you can afford.
  17. Verey sorry to read your story Stuart. I am gutted for you. Did any other neighbours have damage to their cars? I will never fully understand vandalism.
  18. Picked up my LS400 after service and MOT pass. Surface rust underneath most components but nothing structural to worry about, I was informed. Pleased for a 25 year old car! Another year of wafting, hopefully more often!
  19. I am getting 27 mpg - it is winter and I am doing very short journeys. So I would not worry too much. Take it on a long run and see what you get. Last summer I averaged 45 mpg on holiday with a roof box.
  20. I never take my LS400 out if it is raining or the roads are wet, if at all possible. Does it do any good? Let you know when it is MOT'd tomorrow!
  21. I had a triple CABG (Conorary Artery By-pass Graft!) 8 years ago. my blockages were 95%, 85% and 70% if I remember correctly. You will not be allowed to drive for 6 weeks after the operation. The post op exercise classes are essential to get back your fitness - you may even begin to enjoy them! They will probably take a vein from your leg and use that as the "tube" for the by-pass. It is considered a routine operation, but not to the person who is having it! As Stephen said above, the main pain you get is from coughing - that is why they give you a rolled towel to hold against your chest. You will feel quite weak for at least 2 weeks. Please DO NOT attempt any form of exercise until you are told to. I got bored and decided to polish the car roof after 3 weeks - oh did I suffer! Be a patient patient and your recovery will be quicker! Try not to worry unduly and if they offer you an earlier appointment take it! Keep us informed how it goes please - all the best!
