  1. I bought my first car for £50 - then put in the first auto-reverse cassette player by PYE! That was £40!
  2. Gulls on my bonnet! Can I borrow your cats?
  3. I am not sure unreliability is going to sell after people have been bitten. If you personally experience a car that needs many visits to a garage for repair or spends weeks waiting for a software upgrade, I think you might have a different opinion on reliability. Possibly it may be an age thing on my part, as I remember the motoring experiences of the early 70's.
  4. I understand your viewpoint Gang but I must disagree to some extent. Reliability is a major factor if the car cannot be repaired. This is the case with some EV's such as the ID3. I am on the MGEV forum and the complaints regarding the dealerships unable to solve software issues is quite concerning. I seriously considered an MG5 but as I intend ti keep the car long-term I was put off by some of the experiences of current owners. You kindly provided a comprehensive list of issues with your Tesla. If you are a company car user, then I agree, it does not matter if you buy a pup. If you are a private buyer, who can afford to change the vehicle every three years then that is not a big issue. Unless you find your car constantly in the garage. One MG4 owner's car was in the garage for 5 months! Most Lexus owners stick to the brand, not only for reliability, but for quality. Toyota has not gone down the EV route, which is somewhat surprising, as they have lots of experience with batteries.
  5. Saw them live last night in Sandwich! Excellent!
  6. I think the process, if possible, would be very expensive and not worth the trouble. Did you buy the UX from a Lexus dealer? Cazoo? Cinch? Moral of your story is to check the specification carefully. Personally I would never buy a car unseen.
  7. They also own British Car Auctions - getting a piece of every pie! A good thing provided the service improves.
  8. Have you taken out the parcel shelf to see if the creaking goes on your NX 350h??
  9. Templates are fairly easy to make from newspaper. Sellotape sheets together, larger than the boot space, and draw carefully around the edge with a felt-tip pen. Suggest felt tip, as you do not have to press hard to get a mark. I have done this on a number of cars to get a good carpet fit.
  10. This is the essence of the forums - people helping others to enjoy their Lexus vehicles even more!
  11. A lovely LC500 passed me by the Royal Hotel, Deal, Kent. Was it you?
  12. Let the buyer beware! Not a car I would consider - no service history and no paperwork for the repair? Alarm bellswas done should be ringing very loudly. It may be genuine but can you afford to write off £7000 if it goes pear shape? Just my take. The RX400h above is a good, safe buy - surprised it has not been sold by now.
  13. I would be surprised, Adam, if you can't get comfortable in the NX. Provided you are not catering for rear passengers you can get lots of room in the front by pushing the seats back. Pop into a Lexus dealer and try one!
  14. Is it worth doing? If it is a simple procedure going into a menu, then yes but my guess would be it is probably more complicated than that.
  15. I am not familiar with the CT but I suggest changing the battery. Personally I would take it to a Lexus dealer for the battery replacement. They should sort out any resets that may be needed.
  16. Looking forward to some photos Paul - I appreciate it has been a labour of love!
  17. Very interesting thread - thanks. I presume all this would apply to the NX - except I do not think it has the S-Flow button?
  18. I have just heard that John Williams (Roy of the Rovers) has passed away. My thoughts go out to Margaret, his wife, and his family. John was a regular contributor for many years.
  19. That explanation is brilliant Herbie! And made me smile!
  20. Sadly, whoever fitted your number plate did not use a suitable lubricant. When fitting my number plate, I was advised to use grease on the threaded hole and on the plastic nut.multiple drilled holes when number plates are replaced. My dealer (Canterbury Lexus) adjusted the letters and digits so they lined up with the holes, using two black I was particularly impressed how Lexus supply the threaded hole in my NX. I coated the hole and bolt with waxoyl. From looking at your photo, you may be able to carefully get a pair of pliers or mole grips to turn the bolt. I would spray it with PTFE spray before attempting this. If that fails you may have to CAREFULLY drill out the plasic bolt. Others members on here may have better solution. Good luck - re
  21. Dealer, more expensive but would not trust Halfords with my car - sorry Halfords staff!
  22. I would want to brush off the surface rust and treat it with Kurust or something similar, then spray with Lanoguard. Reading the Lanogaurd website - you can spray it on your exhaust but not the manifold.
  23. Could not agree more with the above comments. I am on my 5th Lexus. The previous four were older cars (well over 10 years old) and were very reliable with only wear and tear items to replace - brake pads - discs etc. Provided you buy with due diligence they are wonderful cars to own. However if you buy a lemon, that someone else wants rid of, you will regret it. Plan for the worst hope for the best!
