Calm down chaps! We are all Lexus fans here! The debate over the merits of the 400 against the 430 are still not crystal clear. The radiator/gearbox issue has a fairly inexpensive preventative measure. The air suspension is another matter. It is not clear to me how many suspension "failures" there have been on the 430. Debate/argument/opinions is what the world is about but let's not fall out about it. I really value all the opinions on the forum because they are mostly from actual experience of owners. I am not mechanically savvy and rely on others for expert advice. My initial aim was to buy a 430, though to be honest I do not particularly like the styling, but after weighing up the arguments presented on the forum I opted for the best LS400 I could afford. Time will tell if I have made the right choice! Please keep the debate alive but let's not get too carried away and upset people. All your opinions are valued by me and I am grateful for any advice. I agree with Mike's common post - we are a friendly bunch so please let's try and keep it that way.

Did not know that! I have actually learned a great deal from reading this forum as I am not an expert in car mechanics. It is surprising the expertise on hand for Lexus owners here - 5 star rating IMHO!

I had a Volvo with a steering wheel misaligned - it was down to the mechanic doing the tracking - it was straightened easily enough but I would find it very annoying - something I would want to be put right. Good luck with the LS 460 if you decide to buy it. Would like updates on what you think of it compared to the LS400.

If you could "bottle" that new smell for older cars there is a fortune to be made out there! The best odour I have used is Autoglym car freshener, though it does not last that long.

I find the Lexus LS 400 has a very distinctive smell - the MKIV smells the same as my old MKIII.

Speaking to a mechanic a few weeks ago - he said he had not done any welding (where he works) for over 10 years. Has done some private work but very little. Cars seem to last a lot longer now. However, our LS 400's are getting a bit long in the tooth, so perhaps we will have more of these issues to come.

On my "other" car I have one fog and one reversing light. Even in pitch black conditions there is enough light to see with the reversing camera.
