  1. It is a bit like having an airbag - you just hope you will never need to use it!
  2. Nice job! Did you put a liner down to stop weeds?
  3. I think Top Gear tried it in car park and pranged the car! Not sure what make it was though.
  4. £500, 20 year old Lexus LS 400 – 140 mph! Lexus owners on the forums come from different financial angles. I saw an old Top Gear (2011? repeated last night) showing a yellow McClaren MP4-12C that cost around £180,000. They also showed a Nissan Pixo, which at the time was the cheapest new car, at around £7000. For similar money Hammond and Clarkson purchased a second-hand 8 series BMW 850Ci (£6700 17 years old) and Merc CL 600 (£6695 9 years old). http://www.topgear.com/videos/jeremy-clarkson/new-vs-used-part-12-series-17-episode-3 The argument against owning the older cars was the cost of repairs. When considering a Lexus LS400/430 – they are actually much better value AND more reliable than an old BMW or Merc. Driving my 1998 LS 400 is still a lovely experience and far better than many newer vehicles I have owned. I would rather put more fuel in my Lexus than spend half that amount running an Austin Metro (one of the most uncomfortable and rough cars I have owned) for example. The Lexus experience puts Bangernomics into a different league.
  5. I have been inspired by some photos posted on the forum showing members vehicles in various interesting and beautiful locations:- Here is mine:- A castle built by Henry VIII!
  6. My wife is so pleased we do not have more parking space! I am limited to two cars now!
  7. What Datsun have you just got? On your Flickr page I saw a red Datsun CJJ 211W, Laurel? Did you own that one?
  8. I am so pleased I can't afford one - as I would not be able to decide on Red or Blue! They are both stunning colours and go well with the cars.
  9. Do you not like the 460? How does it compare with your old 400?
  10. If you load them on the roof - BE CAREFUL! I am only 5' 8" !
  11. Disagree about the Tow Bar looking awful when detached. If you have rear parking sensors it is worth having a detachable tow bar - but they are a lot more expensive.
  12. I have used both and I know which I would always choose! I am not very tall, so putting them on the roof of a car is problematic. Trying to reach over to secure the bike on the roof rack (proper bike holder) it fell and dented the roof! Fortunately the car was getting on a bit so I did not mind too much. I would always go for a Tow Bar mounted rack. Advantages: Less lifting - quicker to secure - some can carry 4 bikes. Disadvantages - Tow bar is expensive to fit, but I also have a trailer. Bike carrier is also expensive depending on ehich one you get. My brother is a keen cyclist and he uses one like this:- https://roofracks.co.uk/thule-rideon-9503/?gclid=CIepzKKCmsgCFdXGGwodnZgDig. This type will fit a swan neck tow bar / detachable tow bar. I would recommend this one having seen it being used. I have used a Pendle Bike carrier but they are more fiddly and you need a seperate trailer board. http://www.leisurelakesbikes.com/p/2384/pendle-discovery-4-rack-behind-the-ball-mount-type?variantId=9634&gclid=CJHX84CDmsgCFQ5sGwodlq0E6Q Hope this helps.
  13. Saw this advert:- http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Lexus-LS-400-4-0L-V8-4-Door-Auto-Saloon-1995-N-Ocean-Mist-Grey-Leather-/121771441815
  14. Mike and I are having a senior moment! Must remember to check post dates!
  15. Glad you are pleased with it. Hope you are able to sort out the small niggles. Looks good!
  16. Sorry but I can't see any photos of the plate? Says photo not found?
  17. Gang, do you work in the EV industry? You are a very good avocate for them - you have made me think about my future car purchase in a different light. The BIG factor for most people will be cost. I will be looking at the second-hand market, probably something older than 5 years. Purchase Price / Practicality / Reliability / Fuel Costs will be the main factors.Choice, at the moment, is limited. I read a great deal about The Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV and found the technology stunning but in purely economic terms the ICE will be here for quite some time and will be the only choice for many people on a restricted budget.
  18. Like the colour combination - it looks a peach! Well done!
